What's a good controller for PC?

I've been using a Switch Pro Controller generally, but the left stick is having issues because the plastic of the joystick erodes and gets stuck under the joystick as dust. I'm looking at an Xbox One controller, but the price seems a bit steep. I've used third party controllers from Gamestop before, but the face buttons got stuck after a year.

Basically I've narrowed it down to either a 360 controller or Xbone, but I'll hear out any other suggestions.
Partial to my trusty 360 controller. Doesn't hurt that it's been a de facto standard on the level of the old Gravis Gamepad for years.

What kind of games do you play and are you a poor?
I use a third party xbox controller, PDP. Seems to be fine, been using it a few months now (daily, 3 or so hours) with no drift yet.
If you protest, it's because you feel your voice isn't being heard. If you riot, it's because you feel your voice is being ignored.
Wizard or druid tbh. Psion and seeker are fairly useless tbh.
Do you want to help set up sick frontline plays by your Defender or Strikers or do you want to be an aoe spamming debuff artist?
There is no success like excess!

Recently a lot of Monster Hunter, so I guess action games? 3D games primarily, seeing as that's what's messing with my Switch Pro Controller. Also I can afford a $60 controller, I'm just cheap.
I use an Xbone Elite Controller 2 and it's ridiculously nice

But also way expensive lol
I just use a dualshock 4 on mine.

Well I was wondering because you're basically talking about the cheapest controllers you can buy, so I don't know if you wanted to look into actual good controllers or not. If you're willing to spend more in the $150-200 range you can get a good Scuf controller or something, get nice features like adjustable triggers and back paddles.

Actually yeah, that's too rich for my blood. Definitely looking for something in the range of $30-70 that'll last me a few years ideally. I guess my other options are to get a quote on how much Nintendo wants to fix my controller, or try to open it up myself and clear out any debris under the left stick.
I'll also vouch for the Xbone. It's done right by me except the dpad, which is only an issue when I get wrangled into some SCVI.

don't compare games to feces -- if you've an opinion worth mentioning, do so civilly
depends on what you're playing. if you're play old stuff or just anything 2d, the xbox one controller is probably the worst choice because the dpad is really bad. if you aren't, its a great choice because of how comfortable the controller is.

i use a ps4 controller and the 8bit do sn30+.

there's also a version of this that has prongs so it's basically a better ps4 controller.
Ahem...there's SAND on my boots! -Kefka
Yeah, probably gonna go hunt for an Xbone controller. Got a quote from Nintendo that it would cost $30 + $10 shipping for repairs, so I ought to just get a new controller, while trying to fix the Switch controller on the side since I generally know what the problem is. If I mess something up I guess I'll know what it costs to send it in for repairs.

I appreciate the suggestions.
