I'm mostly into normie shit and edge into some weird adventure stuff that isn't really particularly popular with regular people. So my tastes are like a solid shit that requires no whipingWhat would you consider "weird adventure stuff"? Just curious if I know any of em
honestly I just figure all of the modern popular Shonen anime seem so unappealing to me because its just not my demographic anymore, and that's ok.Frankly that mindset means that the memes aren't aimed at you. They are aimed squarely at people who attribute "good = what I like", and ignore that demographics or tastes are a thing. If you cannot recognize when what you like is trash when it is trash *that* is when you are elitist.

Replace Cowboy Bebop with Psycho Passok YES. the lead male and villain endlessly quoting philosopher names at each other as though that's dialogue
Forgot about this topic, but recent entries are like Ranking of Kings, To Your Eternity and The Fire Hunteroh i had a lot of fun watching Ranking of Kings, the writing kinda fell apart near the end, but it had a lot of likeable characters and the art style was unique (in a good way). I think there's a mini sequel coming up in April or something: https://osama-ranking-treasurechest.com/
The overly cutesy slice-of-life stuff is not and never will be my cup of tea.The only one I like that might fall under that umbrella is Nichijou. The art style is cute, but the girls aren't written in a way that feels like they're trying too hard to be cutesy i guess? They are just dumb kids doing dumb stuff and i like that. Definitely took inspiration from Azumanga Daioh, but I prefer Nichijou more
I've slipped on a lot of slopes, but not this one.
Not for nothing, but how is liking three shows that aired on Adult Swim elitist per the top left? Cowboy Bebop, Evangelion, and Code Geass are pretty mainstream. Obviously not as broad as stuff like DBZ, but that's like acting you're a fan of rare sports and they just like hockey.I think those 3 shows are often seen as classics, but it doesn't feel like they are "mainstream" anymore, at least with the younger crowd
Here's a good, non-elitist anime meme.I recently revisited azumanga daioh after watching it subbed like 15 yrs ago, Osaka's english voice is actually so good lol i love it
