If it's just for gaming, you can probably just go with an i7 processor. I'm not sure if you'd be gaining anything with an i9.

Z series board is overkill. Just get a good B series with an i7 or even i5 to save a lot of money, or spend that savings on a higher tier gpu

Do you really need an i9?
What are you using your PC for? If it's just gaming, get 7800x3D from AMD, no need to waste money on Intel.
Looks pretty good. You could save a bit of money by going with the 14700K over the 14900K. It's $180 less for only 4 fewer E-cores. And I agree that the mobo is something you could save money on as well.

But it's not the end of the world if you don't do any of that. That build will stay relevant for quite a while

Splurging on an i9 seems weird when going with a 4070
This is a signature.
The cooler might be unnecessary, and you're paying an unnecessary premium for a Samsung drive. Look into Team Group and Silicon Power brands. I use a Team Group drive in mine.

you should probably go with a full case instead of a mid case
This is almost never a concern for a gaming PC

I'd second building around a 7800x3D. I'm on the previous gen and I'm still eyeing a 5800x3D as the final CPU upgrade for my main gaming PC

Personally I'd rather spend more money on a better GPU than have a liquid cooler.

Cooling honestly isn't really an issue unless you're overclocking which I don't think people do much anymore.
It says right here in Matthew 16:4 "Jesus doth not need a giant Mecha."

This. Don't know how long you've been out of the PC building Crimsoness but AMD is well worth it these days and less power hungry along with having an upgrade path because it's the first gen on these chips.
Trying is the first step towards failure, so just dont give it a shot and you cant dissapoint.
Id say try to get a bigger case but thats just me.
Metroids Suck
I would forget the liquid cooler. The only one I ever bought was a hassle to install and failed just after two years. Get a Noctua air cooler.
"It was horrible," guard Jeff McInnis said.
"I took 100 naps and we were still in the air."
I don't know. Sorry, I've got a pretty good gaming laptop but I understand any of that.

sometimes you can save decently if you hunt around for prebuilts w/ specific parts you like
i got (and still use) a pretty stellar mid range rig for ~$900 a few years back bargain hunting on newegg and amazon. it was like a $600 discount and about 25% cheaper than buying the parts individually and building it myself. dunno if anyone has any good discounts atm, but worth a shot. and the hate against prebuilts is overblown. i've bought nothing but prebuilts for the last 3 pcs i've owned (so... 15 yrs?), and the only problem i've ever had was a fan wire having to be repositioned.
What are you planning to do with that build? You are overspending on the CPU and motherboard, and are underspending on the RAM and GPU.

Roughly $700 cheaper and others can feel free to modify.

You'd save even more going to an AMD GPU

Do you have a microcenter nearby you? They have great bundles for the price. But it's in store only unfortunately

Nearest one to me is 3 hours away but depending on the savings that might be worth the gas (and making a day trip out of it by doing things in the area or in-between)

Excuse me for hijacking your thread but its better than having multiple ones. Any advice on this build?

this is pretty close in specs to what you picked and ~$500 cheaper (benchmark says GPU slightly better, CPU slightly worse) currently $800 off. can prolly find a better deal w/ better specs if you hunt around a bit (i filtered by GPU). dunno much about omens, but i got one for my adult stepson and he loves it

I edited it for you

Similar CPU in performance but it's quieter, generate less heat and power and cheaper.

Since it requires less power you don't have to spend a fortune on your cooler so I recommend just a good air cooler. And there's almost no reason to spend that much on your motherboard.

I put some of the money you saved back in the GPU

what are you planning on using it for? I think the i9 is overkill for 99% of people. Best off saving a few dollars to use towards other things you might wanna upgrade or peripherals

Also, water cooling is a meme and a waste of money in my opinion. I have a heatsink + 2 fans as my cooler, and I very, very rarely exceed 40C for my CPU temps. The highest it's gotten was 47C under 100% load for over two hours.
Obv your mileage may vary, especially because my case is designed for airflow and not exactly compact. I'd only recommend water cooling if you have one of those micro cases where multiple fans aren't a viable option.
?
Probably you will get better performance and prettier graphics if you swap to the 14700k and use the money to get the 4070 Ti Super.
