Do the Mario + Rabbid games count?
Yeah, I'd count them. Then those. Currently playing through Sparks of Hope and loving it.

I remember hitting a difficulty spike in the first one and giving up on it. I think it was the big dudes with the shields?I know which enemies you're referring to, and they're not so bad. You can't attack them from the front, so you need to get the from the sides and behind, or stomp on them with Mario, and use Rabbid Peach's or Luigi's Sentry. Plus you can reallocate your skill tree at any time outside of a battle to deal with the situation, like having more HP. If you still have Kingdom Battle and are willing to give it another try, I'd say go for it.
They remade Front Mission 1 on Steam
Good game
Jeanne dArc is a hidden gemSeconded
Didn't get to finish it before my console died some years back, but I was enjoying Saiyuki: Journey West .
Sukioden Tactics isn't bad if you liked 4
Troubleshooter: abandoned children is the best and deepest one you can get rn
I bought that, but I couldn't quite figure it out. I probably need to scour some wikisIt has a steep learning curve, but the first few chapters are easy enough you can get away by equipping basic masteries and play it simple. Only the violent cases require extra effort. However the story's difficulty ramps up later
Troubleshooter: abandoned children is the best and deepest one you can get rnI did buy this one myself, the translation seemed very bad when I originally tried it though. Has it improved since then?

Shining Force 1 and 2. CD and 3 if you are able to "obtain" them. The Sega genesis collections have them. Pretty cheap too
