It's been out a couple days and I'm still indecisive. I just can't tell if I'll like the full game or not. I'm coming here from new Fire Emblem but people can't make up their mind if Unicorn Overlord is like Fire Emblem or not if they compare it to series I've never even heard of like Ogre Tactics or whatever.

I'm not super into strategy games, I play specific strategy games for character moments (and waifus) mainly Fire Emblem. I've only played the ones starting from Awakening and upwards though. I played Blazing Blade on NSO recently but tbh it was just too old for me and while I like the characters, I am probably too used to modern Fire Emblem.

Only other strategy games of note I've played are Pokmon Conquest on the DS and Persona 5 Tactica on the Switch. I'd be playing Unicorn Overlord on the Switch too if I buy it. To reiterate, my main interest in most games are the characters, I like getting to know them and maybe pretending they're my chums (or girlfriend) and the gameplay is usually secondary. I'm not terrible at strategy games but I'm admittedly not the smartest person so it's not unlikely I'll feel frustrated if I'm forced to think too hard. I don't play puzzle games for example. But I hear Vanilla Ware makes good stories and Unicorn Overlord has something like supports from FE (called rapports in Unicorn Overlord)

There's a 5 hour demo for the game, and your progress carries over to the full game. Plenty of time to figure out if it's for you.
It is impossible to live in the past, difficult to live in the present, and a waste to live in the future.

Im pretty sure ill like it, but its still in the plastic wrap lol. Im in the middle of a modded original ff7 playthrough atm.

its good, i've bought and played all vanillaware games regardless of genre since grim grimoire.

my only relatable experience is probably FF tactics, maybe growlanser? never played fire emblem

Stated in OP not sure even so. Hence the topic. Generally have this problem with demos, it usually isn't enough for me to decide and even if the demo feels meh, I could end up liking the full game, it has happened before. So I usually prefer asking around for opinions, even spoiling myself if necessary. My track record is pretty good as I like most of the games I own after extensive investigation.

Yeah it's getting tough. If I do buy it, I'm gonna put down a preorder for SMT Vengeance while I'm at it, that's one game physical I don't want to miss out on.

If you only like FE for the girls, its really hard for me to imagine you enjoying Unicorn Overlord.

It plays almost exactly like Ogre Battle, which you may not be familiar with. As said, try the demo out, you get to play a good bit if not all of the tutorial.

Buy it, it's great. There's plenty of difficulty options, so you can just play it on story mode if you want.

Depends on implementation. I hear some people didn't like Majora's Mask because of the 3 day cycle but I didn't mind that.

I know that's why I said I probably would not mind, not definitely wouldn't mind. I liked Ryza ok, I don't think it having a time limit would have affected that. So it depends on how cute the other girls are, I haven't bought the other games cause the ones on Switch, some you have to buy three at once, they're not listed separately and that's a bit pricey fam.

If you like like waifus then yeah it has an abundance of those also I think you can marry them or something, dunno haven't beat it yet just heard you can give a ring or something.

Also it's vanillaware so jiggle physics and heaving breasts abound.

Gameplay wise it's pretty fun.
If you're so great then why do you corrupt those who are just as great?
