He wouldn't be so bad if he wasn't calling constantly.
Like just 2 of the regular objectives in each region, look for the protorelic and the summon crystals. Protorelic has 4 stages, crystals have 3. He calls you before and after each protorelic step and sometimes in between. So that one objective alone has at least 8 calls from him. The crystals have 3, with another optional 3, plus another one when arriving in the area and after completing the materia. So 8 for that one as well. That has you taking literally 16 calls from him just for those 2 objectives alone.
The other ones aren't quite as bad, with him only calling every other objective, but that still equals out to like 4-5 other calls, plus Mai's calls on top of it. So if you do the optional stuff you'll be dealing with like 25-30 phone calls per region, plus whatever parts he calls about for the main plot. Plus his long-winded explanations when you stop by to do vr battles or grab materia.
I honestly would not be surprised if he has as much, or more dialogue than any of the main cast. lol
