Absolute madness. They act like it's a problem of cars being abandoned.... No, it's a problem of car theft! They strip the car for all they can, then dump it, and then the city pays a shit load to store these effectively totaled cars in a lot and tries to get the crime victims to pay the lot fees to get them back.

My favorite part is when they talk about how openly the gang members operate and ask why they don't just arrest them.

"Not a priority. We only deal with violent crime."
EDIT: Right after saying to hide the camera for safety. Totally not violent criminals...

O_O
Crazy.

These people are pieces of shit.

The Camaro groups im in on Reddit, Facebook and elsewhere are all full of posts about cars getting stolen. Im happy I have a garage but feel terrible for the people who aren't a fortunate/ live in apartments. And its not just muscle cars.

Of course it's a problem and of course it needs to be dealt with.

So, will they start arresting tons of gang members stealing cars and actually hold them in jail?
Comments section is filled w/ people saying they try to report this shit happening and the cops don't care, the judges toss out the cases anyway.
Doesn't sound like it's being dealt with.
So what I am hearing is right wing nut jobs are trying to claim abandoned cars as stolen to raise the crime rate and the police and everyone else is like no crime has been committed. I don't like to believe the police but even they realize how insane it is to pretend an abandoned car is stolen.
The people doing the car thefts should be dealt with, but they also need to figure out who is buying these car parts. https://6abc.com/bucks-county-da-catalytic-converter-stolen-converters-tdi-towing/13433581/

Who wants to move to Oakland
What's the context? Is that a lot? Is that significantly more than Oakland saw in the past?

From the comments:

California: Find yourself here.
Oakland: Find your car here.

3:35 in the video.
As for Oakland car theft over time I'm not sure, but the fact it's becoming such a noticeable problem now implies that it didn't use to be this bad before...
There were 23,000 car thefts in Chicago last year. The arrest rate was also the lowest. Democratic cities are a joke.
With cops like that it is no wonder their team is called the Oakland A's.

Jk.

It's wild that there are 2 major car brands with a known vulnerability to thefts and there have been no recalls over it

Chicago spends like 2 billion a year on policing. Should they spend more?

For reference, Oakland's budget is 370 million. So Chicago is spending 5x more.

Perhaps these officers should earn their pay and stop crime or something.

Honestly, would more police really even help the situation.

people are poor, Oakland is expensive and car theft is easier than its ever been.

if you have limited morals, thats exactly what youd do.

so is there actually any evidence or enough proof to convict those people, or is this like many other crimes that never even go to court because of lack of evidence
I could see you, but I couldn't hear you You were holding your hat in the breeze Turning away from me In this moment you were stolen...

Why would they want to increase costs. Cutting corners makes their CEOs richer.

Yeah its almost reaching 2001 levels of theft. That's bad. They should see what was going right in 2015/2016 when thrifts were at their lowest in the last twenty years, and arrests and recovers were much higher too. They seem to have returned back to old habits and should get back to what use to work.
