And it's apple pie.

Good choice imo.

Also in Vermont, one must make a "good faith effort" to serve apple pie with either a glass of cold milk, 1/2 oz of cheddar cheese, or a large scoop of vanilla ice cream.

The little Vietnamese bakery near me makes amazing small apple pies.

Its a good morning when I have enough time after dropping off the kids to have one for breakfast before starting work.

I don't know anything about Vermont (as I'm not from the US), but now they seem to be way above average for the US States.

It'd be great if not for the ingrown racism.

Like, there was a time I strongly considered moving there. Great forests integrated into the borders of towns.

There is almost no one there to be racist against.
I would not consider Racism to be Vermonts greatest issue.

Its greatest issue is probably illicit drug use, which is true in every state.

When the issue is true in every state, that's more of a country thing, whereas I'm speaking of an issue that is less universal and more state-based.

Well, Racism is, but to equate whatever Racism occurs in Vermont to anything the south has is crazy.
Like what? Someone looking askant at a Chinese food place in Rutland? ~That they are going to order at anyway?

It might be true that Vermont is mostly white, but that's not as planned, it's just how it turns out.

Another useless fact:
Maryland is the only state to have created a breed of dog recognized by major kennel clubs (American Kennel Club, UK Kennel Club), the Chesapeake Bay Retriever.
Insert some witty line here
Apple pie is great, but that's also the borderline default, basic bitch pie that celebrating it as a state thing is worthless. It'd be akin if a state bird was a random generic grackle or cowbird. Nothing wrong with them, but couldn't be a tad more creative there?
Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.
Also, an old Vermont "joke" about the term "Yankee" that is topical:

To foreigners, a Yankee is an American.
To Americans, a Yankee is a Northerner.
To Northerners, a Yankee is an Easterner.
To Easterners, a Yankee is a New Englander.
To New Englanders, a Yankee is a Vermonter.
And in Vermont, a Yankee is somebody who eats pie for breakfast.

The food here is terrible. My steak was so tough it attacked my coffee and the coffee was too weak to defend itself.
Four states have official state pies. Additionally, three states have an official dessert which is a pie. Maine has both an official dessert and official treat both of which are pies. Louisiana has an official meat pie. Oklahoma has an official state meal that includes pies.

My favorite part about the legal serving requirement of apple pie in Vermont is that it's not a vestigial law from the 1800's that still happens to be on the books. It was passed in 1999 and is really there.

Hehe, Nice.

It does however, leave out the fact that, The Yankees as a Team, are Reviled in New England.

I say that as someone who has attened partys where I was basically the only Yankee fan.
It was actually kinda funny when it came up.

~Ya, I'm that far upstate NY, and not that far from Vermont at all.
Fun fact, it was fucking cold as shit last night...
