My parents have been putting egg shells, potato skins, coffee grounds, orange peels, and even fuckin apple cores in the garbage disposal for decades without incident. They must have an ultra-powerful garbage disposal.

Kale, pasta. The garbage disposal is fine, but with how things are configured under the sink it doesnt take much to clog the pipes. Ive had to clean out a couple blockages with those and it wasnt fun.

Ive never put anything down a disposal my entire life. Anything on my plate just goes in the trash. I dont care how good that disposal is I dont want to risk clogging the sink. Easier to just put it in the trash.

I'm really good about the garbage disposal. One time tho I had some friends over and didn't realize a corn holder had gotten in there somehow. That was a bitch to fix.

My wife broke a glass cup in the sink. Claimed she got all the pieces out. Of course she didn't tell me this until I did the dishes and there were some small bits of food left. I turned the disposal on and it burned out, because there were huge chunks of glass still inside.

All this to say, I removed the disposal Saturday morning and now we have a double sink. Minus the disposal. Let me tell you, it smells a lot better in the kitchen now that we don't have that 15lb mass of stink in the kitchen.

But thats the whole point of having one, so you dont have to put food in the garbage attracting animals to dig through them.
