No, I was too busy watching There Will Be Blood, No Country for Old Men, The Departed, The Prestige, Gladiator, Up, and the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
I think it was the best decade as far as originality. Also all the great movies that were good enough for sequels.

My favorite year would be 2001 movies.

Was a mixture like every other decade.

It brought us the best love story to ever grace theatres. For the first time we watched a college kid and a Texas waitress hook up over Spring Break. Not brought together by their love of boning and lack of ever needing to see the other person ever again, no. They were brought together by their love of something half as pure, but 5x as wholesome. That's right, song!

"From Justin to Kelly" launched Kelly Clarkson and Justin Linguine into super stardom and more importantly launched my heart into an area of my body where it can actually have emotions enter it. Doctors say it's pushed into my ribs and has spent the last 20 years not getting enough circulation to the rest of my body. If I had to lose my extremities for the chance to understand romance, then it's an even trade.

Thank you, Justin. Thank you, Kelly. Thank you, whatever year between 2000 and 2010 that this cinematic masterpiece came out. You the best!

That's the same movie that came out the same year as Pirates of the Caribbean, yeah?

For me it was probably the best decade for films. Many of my favourites were released between 2001-2006.

2000s also had a bunch of those dumb comedy movies, like not dumb in a bad way but just like this isnt serious at all, Im literally sitting here for 90-120 minutes enjoying life and laughing my ass off and wont spend the next several days having an internal monologue analyzing the meaning of every fucking line of dialogue

Feels like everything that comes out now is either some big budget action movie or a serious thought provoking drama

Give me dumb fun movies again damn it

Scroll this list of '01 movies too. Great year for movies and games (GTA3). Also I didn't know Super Troopers was an 01 movie too.

Na it was fine.
There have always been good and bad movies. We just don't hear about the bad ones from the 1930's because nobody talks about them.

these are not great movies lol some of those are even trash (like the Friday sequels and 2001 planet of the apes movie, for the record Rise of the Planet of the Apes was 2011)

also surprised you'd list comedies like white chicks but left out mean girls (neither are good movies though)

There was certainly a lot of bad movies in that decade but there were some really cool bright spots too. For all those crappy superhero movies, there were things like Spider-Man 2 and The Dark Knight. I liked Pan's Labyrinth too and I thought Casino Royale was a banger. Pixar had some pretty amazing hits that decade as well (especially compared to nowadays).

The Phantom Menace released in 1999... and Revenge of the Sith (2005) is good.

Michael Bay Transformers movies
The first movie (2007) is a fun and [mostly] true-to-form adaptation of the original animated series.
.

Edit : The Illusionist (2006), which released a few months before The Prestige (2006), is a great movie.

You could literally just take Russell Crowe and Leo's movies and they'd stomp most other decades best films.

Wrong on both counts. You might as well say The Illusionist sucked, too. I mean, it isn't true or necessary--you don't *have* to--but you probably will. :/
