I feel the odds of it being a good game are higher if it's not freemium and you just straight up buy it like a steam or console game, but I'm not opposed to free games that are actually good.

I prefer suggestions of mobile exclusive titles but ports are fine too; just need aware I've probably already played a lot of them.

tl;dr good android turn based rpg suggestions please, ones that cost money to buy are fine.

No stupid film for me.
I'm not familiar with that game, tell me more about it.
Slice & Dice

Oh, Roguelike, sorry that's not really my thing, I wanted a more classic turn based jrpg kind of thing.
Reddit being down right now really sucks because I could probably find a couple dozen threads about this and not even have to post
a turd based rpg??? what the hell is wrong with you?
I left with nothing but the thought of you
I went wandering
Are there even any paid turn based rpgs that's for Android only? Feels like all of the paid turn based rpgs are ports of some console/PC game

I remember really liking Final Fantasy Dimensions, but that was years ago so it's possible that the game was ass and I just forgot lol

A Turbam based RPG sounds like ass in the best possible way.
Philosophy major in the academy of Nope.
I've never heard of a game based on turbans, but if I find one I'll let you know

Oh and to be serious, Caves of Lore is pretty good though it's more CRPG than JRPG.

Doesn't need to be android only; mobile platforms in general is fine, just wanted to make sure I could run it since I have an android and not an iPhone.
Came in to highly recommend Slice & Dice
move all remaining groundhog mercenaries to the front lines. Have sheep troopers squadrons A and B flank the cows. They're using DC-17 hoof blasters.
FF Dimensions.

Yeah those are definitely good suggestions, unfortunately I've basically played all of those. More plot and character based (even if simple plots) turn based (or atb) conse style jrpg is really what I'm looking for, and I don't mind paying.

Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy games are my jam, well before FF tried to bean action rpg series..but then I liek Mana games.

I think the FF4 remake is on Android. Sega also released Phantasy Star 2-4 for free with like one ad per play session. Which in spite of being free, is not the F2P garbage that I assume you're trying to avoid by specifying paid.

I have liked them in the past but it's not my first goal this time...that said I might try them anyway if they have decent plots. How are the plots compared to Pokemon games?

Aren't the Phantasy Star games still on app stores? Highly recommend if you haven't.

Does Slay The Spire count? It is a turn based Roguelike. Technically because you do play as a character, it is an RPG.

Ok, Slay the Spire. That game is dope af.
I'm gonna be honest. Slay the Spire is so good it doesn't matter what genre it is. I freaking hate roguelike, but I make an exception for Slay the Spire.

Like, in any topic asking about any genre, "get Slay the Spire instead" is a valid answer.

Good racers? Get Slay the Spire instead.

I haven't finished the phantsdy star games yet other than 3 abd online (man i loved thst on the dreamcast back in the day) but I have the Ps3 Genesis collection that has them on it, with iirc now the exception of 1

How old school is 1? Does it have a decent plot and good quality of life improvements?

Does slay the spire have a plot like a jrpg?

If it's a turn based rogue like with a Storyline and even in engine plot cutscenes i could be up for that. I don't know much about it, but I've heard it called a great game a lot.
Huh?

It does not. Cross Blitz, on the other hand, does (it is also not on phone so it is moot as well).

If you're talking about Sonic's Ultimate, Phantasy Star 1 is actually on it, but it's unlockable. It's a pretty irritating unlock though; you have to beat the first boss of Sonic 2 with Sonic and Tails co-op, and they actually enforce this by requiring both characters to land at least one hit on him. It's dumb enough if you don't have a second player, and it's downright stupid if you don't have a second controller.

Nah, it doesn't. It sorta has a story, but in the same way that Mario or Metroid do.

FF Dimensions was awesome. Reminded me a lot like FF5, with a bit of Dragon Quest 4 mixed in the way the chapters were handled.
<<<Living is the chaos of existence, dismantling itself, instant by instant>>>
I was considering Dimensions nit the graphics were kind of rpg maker final fantasy looking..and I heard the plot was ff1 level basic. Is that true?

Tbh it doesnt need to be super elaborate; story events where you meet npcs with personality, the party members at least having defiend personality as basic as " this is the tough guy who is impulsive" "this is the smart wizard woman who is sort of the party mom since the tough guy is a bit dim" etc is plenty
I mean it was a basic story, but way more elaborate than FF1. The story is probably on par with FF4 and 5.

Not in the slightest. It is overtly more complex than any of the NES games could possibly even fit on the cartridge, and is most directly comparable to the SNES games. The graphics are definitely pretty lame, but that's just something that sucks about phone FF's. Def don't sleep on it just because of that.

Those Steven Universe games are pretty fun
If your mobile device can play Final Fantasy dimensions play it. It's pretty much the last traditional turned based Final Fantasy game Square ever made. I would so buy it again if they remastered it and released it on consoles.

Problem is they really have not updated the game and now gives warnings that it might not run properly on later versions of the Android OS.

It's plot is derivative of Final Fantasy II but it's not that bad.

I like to pretend that was not something that existed. Alongside Airborne Brigade (the actual worst phone FF), Tactics S, and that one XV ripoff game.

Ok, mow I'm pretty sold. Still going for more game ideas than one but I'll try Dimensions. Thanks for the info.
Valkyrie Profile is on Android, that gets my vote.
Square actually porting their older games to mobile is nice as it gives us something other than gacha crap to play. And they do sales often.
