TLDR: Cat game was announced at TGAs.

The game looked a little off (IE: possibly with AI generated assets).

The game description is almost certainly AI-generated with a lot of absolutely meaningless AI-like phrases.

The company behind it is led by a guy with a shady, Crypto & NFT-filled history that makes this look like a scam.

Also it's an open world game that's supposed to be released on Apple Watch...? Which doesn't sound, uh, good, but that's beside the point.

I'm not sure if anyone was really buying into this one, but if so, you might want to approach it with some caution. At best, it's looking like a lot of the game was likely made with AI assets. At worst, it's an outright crypto or NFT scam.

This reddit thread brings up some other points in the comments. The biggest one being that the company behind it didn't really seem to exist before today. They have no web presence. Their LinkedIn page apparently 404's.

The weird thing is that they've got enough money to throw some relatively big names behind it like Pokimane, Ninja, Felicia Day, and Ben Brode.

There was this optimistic comment, but it's almost certainly just a little scam game.
Something about it gives me a vibe of Yes, this game is fake, but it isn't what they are actually working on. I could see a second trailer released next year where "Catly" is just a fake program or something within or related to the world of a different game.
I could be completely off the mark here, but this game seems so blatantly fake that I can't believe it's not part of a different project or something along those lines.

Superauthenti? Seriously? Nothing sets off my bull shit alarm like putting any variation of "truth" or "honesty" in your branding. Just reeks of "I'm not a cop" vibes.

I feel like there was another fairly blatant AI-generated scam game that was in the news recently and which also featured influencers as part of it. I'm sure Ninja was one of them. Can't remember what it was called but it was a GTA-style game.

A lot of the trailer looked pretty damn bizarre, honestly.

Was suspicious that it was AI generated, but as soon as the human character showed up I knew it was. Looks like the same generic person in every AI slop mobile game ramming ads everywhere they can.

Where are people getting the idea that it's an MMO where you're a cat?

The trailer didn't convey that at all.

I can see media in the near future being flooded with all kinds of shovelware low effort slop like this. And it's not going to be limited to just video games.

I'm not even sure if I remember seeing this during the Game Awards. If I did, I must have automatically tuned it out or focused on other things when it came on.

Eh, I thought the game looked cute during the game awards, but I also had a couple beers in me.

On second viewing, not so much.

Following the reveal of Catly at The Game Awards last week and speculation about the game using generative AI, SuperAuthenti's PR representative has now issued an official response stating "AI was not used" in the trailer or game.

Here's exactly what IGN was told:

"A PR representative authorized to speak on behalf of developer SuperAuthenti said that generative AI was not used to produce the trailer, nor the game. Furthermore, the representative said the developer was "very surprised by such speculations," adding that "We do not think there are any existing AI tools that can produce a video like that. Industry experts have echoed this opinion."

The same outlet has been shown a version of the trailer from The Game Awards that includes some extra footage:

"The PR representative also showed IGN a version of the trailer from The Game Awards that showed in-progress shots interspersed alongside the final version, which did seem to confirm the lack of AI use in the actual trailer production."

SuperAuthenti's PR representative has also ruled out blockchain technology and NFTs:

"Our company/project has never issued any blockchain currency and any NFTs. Our company does not and has never owned any blockchain currency and NFTs."

If it's not AI generated, then it's something that an actual human produced and directed from start to finish under the assumption that it was an effective way to sell a new AAA franchise / concept. Which is somehow worse.

This hand appears to have fingers merging together which is something AI does.

Her right hand is very suspect of being AI.

At the very least they had AI generate the models and they had a human animate it. But between the trailer and the steam page, it's very clear AI is being used.
