Across basically all agencies, probationary employees (less than one or two years) are being fired without cause, without justification, without notice, sometimes with not even enough time to collect their belongings.

This could mean up to 200,000 federal employees lose their jobs all at once. Agencies will be permanently crippled. Lives ruined. Services broken.

Now is the time to get out there and support federal employees and workers in general. If you're not part of a union, start one, join one, get them ready to take action to protect democracy. Join community organizations, get involved in mutual aid. Speak out to the media. Call your REPUBLICAN and Democratic lawmakers at every level.

You're watching your society dismantled in real time. It is NOT too late to do something about it. We have the numbers and we can tell them to stop. You just have to do it. I am, I'm going to be risking my neck a lot more in the very near future.

I work in state government and am in a union. so I feel for these people. I voted accordingly knowing the goal of Trump 2 is to replace as many federal workers with Trump or heritage foundation stooges.

One could say the government never worked for them. I get it. But now we get to see what that looks like in extreme terms.

I mean, let's say an extreme estimate of 2 million federal workers quit or get fired. I mean, they want almost everybody gone.

Can our economy and workforce suddenly handle that huge of an influx of mostly skilled workers entering the workforce? Kinda clashes with Elons H1B fetish, no?

But this could be disastrous and they don't care. Without saying(even though they did) it, we all know there are no grand plans after the firings. Things will just get shittier and worse.

It's not that they don't care, they literally want those people to be begging for unemployment. They are foaming at the mouth at the prospect of people who have been "stealing their money" being hurt, and they are too stupid to realize there is real consequence on the other side of this.

I'll be honest I didn't read all of project 2025. I knew how serious it was and voted against it because I saw enough. Or even just "Heritage" So I guess I don't know what these plans are.

I really meant there is no plan to deal with the after effects of the firings. They just want people gone and don't give a fuck what happens next

The next is permanent wealth transfer and low tax rates for the wealthiest.

The later is repairing the gaping holes in services paid for by the peasants. Rural hospitals, Medicare, Medicare, Pell grants, social securitypensions, consumer rights, worker rights, veteran care, and national parks are never coming back

Heard a group of people at our agency's help desk laughing and saying "oh are we supposed to be feeling sad right now, scared that we're about to lose our jobs" and I don't know if that was reassurance since we're DoD or one of the five stages of grief

They looked like they were Gen X when they walked through the area so I dunno

I used to want to work for the government sooo badly for stability. When Trump got elected the first time, I never applied for another government job. I've worked for too many companies with erratic leadership and I figured something like this would happen.

A bunch of my coworkers got fired all at once today after being promised that they wouldn't be. It's a dark day, but it removed any illusions I had about keeping my job, and I believe it did for many others too. So I'm released from any fear or desire to keep quiet and ride it out.

This will cause unseen anger and aggressiveness from the federal workforce.

I think they're going to gut USPS and sell it to Bezos and claim "see look we made the American people money!" then just having mail service will be a monthly fee and upcharges if you get more letters than other people.

There are going to be another round of protests across the country on Monday (for President's Day), so going to one is probably all you can really do, unfortunately.

One of my friends from undergrad just moved from Alabama to DC to start her job at NIH. She hasn't given an update since she mentioned that they were having an agency meeting this morning, so it doesn't sound great.

On top of that shit, her dad was murdered in a home invasion about a decade ago and she's had some lingering medical issues. So she's been through a lot and this is just making it worse. She also lost one of her friends in the DCA plane crash

I am a probationary employee with an agency that hasnt been nearly as impacted (DoD) as other agencies and im scared shitless. Ive never hated a single person as much as I do as president fElon.

luckily, my leadership is trying to get ahead of this. worst case scenario, I go back to being a contractor for the time being but my heart truly goes out to those who have lost their jobs.

the end goal for this administration is to privatize everything, which is dumb as fuck but this administration has no idea what theyre doing.

Talk to people and tell them what's going on (especially if they don't follow news or politics much).

Contact politicians.

Protest.

Stop buying from big business/companies (Amazon, Starbucks, Tesla, Walmart, etc)

The tariffs raises the prices on non-American goods, which raises a demand on cheap American goods.
The tax cuts for the rich means that they got more money to invest in American industry.
Firing federal employees creates an American unemployment fleet that can work in the newly invested American industry,which will lower the prices on eggs.
