All the more reason not to bother with their stupid voting system anyway.

Why in the world would you think that it was anonymous on the back end? Did you think that Reddit operated on the honor system for people not just upvoting/downvoting as much as they wanted?

It turns out that when you reveal to society that you're willing to put on a mask and gun down people you have problems with they are uncomfortable with your presence. Whod have thought?

Could be many reasons. Maybe endorsing Luigi, maybe because it had posts about openly killing Elon Musk.

Probably a knee-jerk reaction for their stock dropping? Idk.

They plan to do this with all rule-breaking posts eventually. There's also issues with their AI moderation taking out posts that aren't violations.

Idk why the internet keeps having to learn this lesson. Advocating violence or openly discussing killing public fillers is all fun and games until one of those nutjobs goes and does it, and then the site gets scrutinized, shut down, censored and everyone suffers. This has happened multiple times on the internet and on reddit. Reddit is not some dark web sector, it is a public message board with plenty of impressionable people on it.

Perhaps if reddit was known for taking such stances against the MAGA crowd advocating violence.

Meanwhile, Twitch has streamers openly advocating for violence and they get at most a 1 or 2 day ban.

Reddit might be making a stance now because they might be cracking down on botting, because some main subs are/were incredibly astroturfed.

And then they just moved to the other MAGA subs and continued to do the exact same things.

Such an extreme stance. Only going against MAGA when it makes it to the news that there is an active terrorist group being open about their terrorism.

Duh? They would have gotten rid of Ida Wells' posts as well.

And it has nothing to do with Elon. Right-wingers have to do something pretty heinous to get a slap on the wrist.

They banned subs devoted to Trump and even some rightwing-sided gaming boards. What do you want Reddit do now?

"Call for non-violence" is pretty above partisanship. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of call of violence posts (be either rightwing or leftwing) are mostly bot trying to stir shit in the platform.

Judging by the admin's responses in the original thread I posted, I really don't think they've put any more effort into this whole thing than just a basic text filter catching anyone saying the name "Luigi".
https://i.imgur.com/TGkNCva.gif https://i.imgur.com/8mWCvA4.gif
This new rule doesn't make any sense. What is "violent content"? What do the warnings mean? The idea that down voting content "bad" content is what "responsible" users do is asinine because it's about even odds whether something unpleasant or unhinged will have a ton of upvotes or a ton of down votes. I have never once actually thought that upvotes down votes was indicative of what anyone actually thought, and I've never been too careful myself with what I pressed.

I wonder if I should be worried?

Luigi was a reminder that they are mortal and going to have hundreds of millions of angry people wanting them dead in the very near future when the world starts to end due to climate catastrophe (less than five years till 2.0C warming folks, buckle in).
