Welp, it's that time of the year again: ArchangelBaruch's silly overcomplicated mini-contest-inside-the-contest game thingie!
The name of the game this time around is
Easter Egg Wombo Combo !
The rules, while a bit more complicated than other times, are still fairly straightforward:
- Create a list of games in which each game has a reference, cameo, or easter egg to another game franchise. Longest chain wins!
Fictional example: In Mario Sunshine there is a Master Chief poster > In Halo 3 Cortana mentions being a Hatsune Miku fan > In Project Diva F Sans from Undertale blatantly appears in the title screen = chain of length 4
- All the games in the list must be of different franchises, have a different developer and a different publisher.
- You must provide proof of the reference in question for each reference/easter egg in the chain, ideally a picture or if not possible a video (timestamped).
- Since this is an information war, please send me a PM with your entry instead of publicly posting it here. To help with my sanity, please use the following table format (you can use any upload service, cryptpad happens to not require an account in case you don't want to register elsewhere so that's why I used it as the example; though do mind that it's a bit finnicky so you may lose your work if it crashes): https://cryptpad.fr/sheet/#/2/sheet/view/T2xqWUCOVdHHWsRK5SX7qL8CuVWSfXG47gffDv0F7ps/
- Since there is some work to do this time around, I am also upping the prize to $60 for the winner (or split between participants in case it's a team effort, which I do encourage).
- The limit for this will also be longer than usual: deadline is
Sunday 6th, 9AMish CET
.
Nitpicky clarifications:
- Character reference will send the chain to the franchise they're from. For example, Luigi will send the chain to the Mario franchise, not Smash Bros.
- The developer and publisher is the company, not the regional division. Nintendo of America and Japan are the same publisher.
- The publisher is the one either in the original country or most commonly globally. A local publisher for a very specific country in the world won't count.
- "Franchise" is a very loose term, so unless there are some shenanigans clearly afoot I will be lenient. Mario and DK are two different franchises, but Mario Kart and Mario Tennis is the same Mario franchise.
- If any of the chain elements is wrong or doesn't fulfill all the criteria (and it's not obviously abusing the system to unnaturally extend the chain), it doesn't invalidate the whole chain. I'll just substract the point from that particular link.
With all that said, have fun! Do not hesitate to ask any clarification questions, but do mind that for the sake of fairness to all participants I will answer publicly.
