When Luigi Mangione killed a health insurance CEO whose company denied claims at twice the industry average, it was all you heard about for weeks. It feels like the media stopped talking about the murder of one Minnesota Democrat and attempted murder of another just as soon as we learned the killer was a "strong" Trump supporter. If the former demanded such intense coverage from a responsible media, surely the latter demanded at least as much, no?

The latter was a Trump supporter killing democrats, so no.
Who is? I am!
It was a slower news week when Luigi happened.

It is insane to me but yes the assassinations dropped out of the news cycle like a day after they happened, just like the military deployment to Los Angeles to overthrow elected officials is also not really reported on

How long did the media talk about that Trump supporter who tried to kill him once they found out he was a Repug?

The cowards aren't gonna stand up for journalistic integrity, what do you think they are, journalists ?

The media is complicit. Democrats dying just isn't something they care about.

If a Mamdani supporter killed a Republican politician, it's all you would hear about on every news until the end of time.

If the attempted shootings were done by a Dem, the media would have covered that exclusively for the rest of the election.

There a debate? Every question is "why did one of your people try to kill Sleezus Christ" and nothing else.

The mainstream media is the enemy, with remarkably few exceptions.

As another example, just imagine wha the mainstream media would have done if Obama had lost in 2012 and then did everything Trump did after his loss (i.e., Big Lie for months, and turning his mob loose on Congress to try to illegally stay in power), with the full and complete support of at least 95% of the D establishment.

Not only would Obama be treated in the media as the worst traitor since Judas, the entire Democratic party would face that accusation (as they rightfully should, in this hypothetical).

But none of this happened in real life vs. Trump and Republicans.

To be fair, there was an active manhunt. News fell off when he was caught.

This guy was apprehended quick

The comparisons with the Luigi case and the Trump assassination attempt are still valid.

The pattern is clear.

It's not just you, the media dropped that story as soon as it was revealed the assassin was a right-wing nut.

Israel/Iran happened. That knocked it right out of the news cycle.

Especially once Trump got directly involved.
Yeah it's wild to see a president enabled fascist murder a house rep and a week later the media is over it.

I've seen multiple things about Biden showing up to the funeral, the dog being interred. If you mean why aren't they sensationalizing it 24/7 it doesn't work like that. They can't just report no news sensationally.

Does a tan suit ring a bell? Or are you too young to be in compliance with the GameFAQs TOS?

Do you just... not watch the news? For your entire life?
Everything in the US makes more sense when you realize the mainstream media identifies with CEOs but not with Democratic politicians.

You know what I mean. NBC News isn't going to get anyone to watch with "Coming up, we sit and talk about Luigi for the third time this week with another psychologist... AGAIN! Also, we look at the 38 day countdown timer until he is deposed in court! Breaking News, we haven't learned a single new thing since yesterday!"

I didn't say news doesn't turn NOTHING into news like when they sensationalize things like Dijon Mustard and bending too low. They already had multiple news reports, multiple website articles. But what are they supposed to do on 24/7 constantly on news? Have a seance with their ghost? Talk to their pastor? Talk to the last grocery store clerk who saw them in person and ask them 20 questions? When there's a man hunt they can run it as a news story constantly. When they find the man how are they supposed to continue to squeeze blood from a rock if they're still awaiting a court date?

I never ever understand this goofy knobbly kneed "Umm uhhh ummm does aAAanyone think they stopped talking about thing TOO SOON?" They just had the funeral 2 days ago and every single news outlet was reporting about it, especially because Biden was there.

They, uh.

For weeks.

Yeah, kinda. I mean, MJ would do stuff like dangle Blanket from a hotel balcony and shit. I wasn't watching the news, I was watching cartoons. I only remember a little bit of the "Wacko Jacko" news zeitgeist.

The story is impossible to cover without painting the right in a bad light, so they've stopped covering it.
