How about Millennium from Hellsing?
What dey doThey're a group of undead Nazis (except for their leader
They're a group of undead Nazis (except for their leaderSo, no, then. Because there's tons of Nazi weebs IRL who probably idolize Millennium.who's a cyborg) who want to invade the world and basically just slaughter as many people as they can
Give me a rundown on what makes them vile and hated iyoThese guys are the tippy top of the World Government. They control the Marines as well as most other nations. Celestial Dragons themselves are all supposed to be descendants of the rulers of the 20 or so nations that united to repel some great evil. (I forget the specifics, but I'm pretty sure it was pirates). Today they are almost all ugly slobs so detached from reality they literally wear space suits to avoid breathing the same air as commoners. In the modern era they're the main proponents of slave trading, with many of the Strawhat's allies having direct ties to having escaped the slave trade or survived a genocide. The time skip literally happens because Luffy punches a Celestial Dragon and the fallout from that ultimately forces his crew to temporarily disband and start training.

As for why Vegy made this topic. It's because The most recent chaptersare about how the Celestial Dragons every 3 years choose one lucky island to become their private hunting grounds. The Marines capture everyone on the island, swap out their clothes for ones with targets on their back, and then set them loose. The Celestial Dragons then compete to see who can score the most points, with certain bloodlines being worth bonus points over the common folk. The manga straight up shows children being victims of this too. It's pretty fucking dark. Like, one of the God Knights literally creating a field of deadly spikes under a child and taunting the child to jump down. Only for that kid's father to show up and then the knight kills him.
So yeah. Slavery, multiple genocides, and tons of historical erasure.

Like this scene is Hachi literally gets shot by a Celestial Dragon . I think mostly because he was begging to not have his friend sold into slavery, and then blaming himself for getting shot and begging Luffy not to do anything about it, because Hachi deserved to get shot for daring to impose on them.
Too likable. Even if you hate them, and you should hate them, they have some level of respectability just because they aren't bigots, they are just war mongers who are looking for a place to die and an enemy worthy enough to fight and kill them.Yeah, I wasn't sure if the topic was about how evil they are or how much the fans hate them. In the latter case, their over-the-top villainy makes them entertaining, and they only really use Nazi aesthetics so they aren't exactly hateful towards real groups (though the Major is prejudiced against monsters)
Not even close. Celestial Dragons are a bunch of powerless morons protected by the higher ups. Made in Abyss, Children of the Whales, Blood C and Dungeon of Black Company have far worse groups. And that's only the ones that pop immediately into my head.I feel like that makes the Celestial Dragons worse though. Like Bondrewd from MiA is like morally one of the worst characters ever going by how much suffering he's caused, but he also looks really cool and is fun to watch. Celestial Dragons are ugly rapists that wear fishbowls over their heads and have Superman on speed dial.
Cause I'm sorry, if the Marines know just how horrifying all this shit really is, like I have an entirely different viewpoint of someone like Garp who spent the vast majority of his life propping up that system. He refused a promotion to admiral due to having to be at their beck and call and occasionally mocks them. Granted, the most recent manga chapter has got people angry at Garp.
Rocks and Roger are all "We're here to end this genocide!"
Garp:Not if I have anything to fucking say about it!
He refused a promotion to admiral due to having to be at their beck and call and occasionally mocks them. Granted, the most recent manga chapter has got people angry at Garp.I think its a lawful good type thing. To Gary, my guess is that
Spoilers below.
He shows up to God Valley during the genocide of 100K innocenr people by the Celestial Dragons to fight against the likes of Roger and Rocks, who have the best chance of stopping said genocide. Considering this is Rocks's homeland, this is particularly poignant. I mean, LightSnake put it quite blantantly in the Chapter 1160 topic...
Making matters worse for Garp, his own son Dragon (who is a marine at this point) and his squad disobeyed orders to go to God Valley to try to rescue people and/or oppose the Celestial Dragons...and all of Dragon's squad died doing this. Dragon himself is still risking his life, having saved Ivankov/Kuma NY tranqing their would be murderers and rescuing Shanks/Shamrock following their mother's wishes to not have their incredibly evil father (who murdered said mother) raise them...although I guess he fails with the latter.
He refused a promotion to admiral due to having to be at their beck and call and occasionally mocks them. Granted, the most recent manga chapter has got people angry at Garp.He still works for them. He still defends their power structure.
I think its a lawful good type thing. To Garyp my guess is thatI can see it. Someone has to oppose the pirates, most of whom are malevolent. As the Revolutionaries have noted, their goal isn't to destroy the marines, but the Celestial Dragons that are rotting/have rotted the World Government from within. A World Government without the Celestial Dragonsthe evil World Government is the only thing standing in the way of complete anarchy and hed rather have tyrants rule and try to oppose the more evil of the pirates than the evil pirates ruling, which he sees as the alternative.
He still works for them. He still defends their power structure. He does have a brutal side to him alright. The next chapter or 2 should show us a lot more about Garp's character.
He gave his grandson brain damage as a child and still encouraged him to join the Marines, knowing what they are. Garp is a terrible person with good intentions.

Nah, Garp's out of excuses.Yup. Im just spitballing about why he started down that path. He may not have even known all that shit for much of his life. At a certain point I think the sunk cost fallacy took over. The government he serves does WAY more damage than almost any pirate ever could.
Also, most countries in the world aren't even part of the World Government and even then, the Government lets countries be fucked over anyway if it suits their purposes.
They would if they were this consistent in the anime from the beginning. As most of their crimes are from recent flashbacks mostly. What? Basically the first things we see of them are being slavers and shooting a dude who tries to stop them from enslaving his fiance / wife.
And in modern OP that havent done a fraction of what theyve done during the current flashbacks. No idea why but its just ruining Garza character at this point.
Yup. Im just spitballing about why he started down that path. He may not have even known all that shit for much of his life. Spoiler tags for Anime only watchers.
I think Shou Tucker might just be more hated despite how popular One Piece is and all the horrible things that the Dragons did.Shou Tucker
I checked back on 1096 and it seems Garp only knows CD go on field trips but asked why on "such a remote island"but Kong didn't want to tell him(fuck kong, he knew). So its safe to say dat dis(god valley) will be da 1st time he sees whats going onIt is possible that is the case, although it begs the question how a marine grunt like Dragon (at the time) found out about the "hunt". I presume we will get answers to these questions soon enough.

That seems like the most likely explanation, although there are a few parts to this that should be dissected. Spoiler tags for Anime only watchers.Yeah, I meant way before that, more like when Garp first joined the Marines. Im guessing he didnt know all that when he was a rookie like Koby and probably advanced some ranks before finding out how heinous the WG was.
1.Based off recent chapters in the Manga, Big Mom has heard of the "hunts" of innocents that the Celestial Dragons have performed, even if she dismissed them as rumors. Dragon, a low ranking marine grunt in the current flashback, is aware of the "hunts" as is the rest of his platoon (They tried to interfere and Dragon's whole platoon got executed for this). Considering a pirate and a low-ranking marine know of the "hunts", there isn't much room for doubt that Garp (a Vice Admiral) indeed knows of them.
2.The next few chapters will elaborate on this more, but Chapter 957 gave us a lot. Garp dislikes the Celestial Dragons and refused the admiral position due to not wanting to be placed under the Celestial Dragon's direct command. Sengoku goes further with this though. The insubordination of refusing to do their bidding actually is implied to put his life in danger, with only his accomplishments/stature preventing this. If Garp goes any further than just ignoring their wishes, he would probably get eliminated. Also, only tangentially related, but it is very much in doubt that Garp actually protected the "Celestial Dragon's Slaves" as Sengoku implied, considering the "hunt" that was going on.

3.Just an irritating thing that I've noticed, but Oda always has the "good marines", of which Garp is implied to be, absent when the Celestial Dragons are being...Celestial Dragons. I mean, Garp escorted Shirahoshi and her family to/from the Levely. Not too long after escorting her to the event, he is missing both when Saint Charlos tries to enslave Shirahoshi and CP9 backs up this attempt to enslave her as well as when later he is MIA to prevent presumably Lucci from abducting Vivi not too long after Vivi wished Garp was protecting her instead.
I don't believe that having Garp not realize/see what is happening at God Valley is realistic though...and considering they are on speaking terms even in the present day, Dragon at the very least must have definitely told him what happened with the "hunt". So yeah, hopefully Oda does show Garp having to face this. It feels...cowardly not to.
4. Not as relevant, but Garp right now is Blackbeard's prisoner. Considering the God Valley incident, both were there and that may be relevant...although Blackbeard just sees him as a bargaining chip. That may change of course.
Wait, who's Kong's son?I thought he was Monkey D Kong so I assumed Garp was his son. Apparently I was mistaken on both counts.
Probably the GodhandYeah but they look cool, well three of them do anyways. Ubik and Conrad are too same-y for me, but they're alright too I guess.
They aren't misguided, deluded or raised to be the way they are. Even the Celestrial Dragons at least had peer pressure to be the scum they are.
The Godhand are like we are evil we serve evil so like give us a fucking sacrifice
I just got to saboady archipelago in the manga where this mermaid was kidnapped, like chapter 500 thereabouts.
they try really hard to make the celestial dragons completely irredeemable pieces of shit but are they even the worst villains in one piece? Theres definitely people in the marines that seemed worse, likethose involved with the buster call and slaughter of civilians on Ohara
anyway I havent finished one piece but what Ive seen so far of the celestial dragons at chapter 500 is nothing compared to what Ive seen in Made In Abyss
The ones who ordered the Buster Call and the destruction of Oharathough interestingly enoughare Celestial Dragons. The highest ranking authorities among them
As the newer translations reveal, Dragon and his platoon were not even supposed to be on the island. They went there of their own free will. Why risk that unless he was aware ahead of time of what was going to happen, especially considering all of Dragon's platoon got massacred.
Plus, Pirates also have heard rumors of the "hunts" like Big Mom.
