Dammit... and I've almost cleared my mangadex library when I migrated to comick. So now I have to re-add the manga that I'm following to mangadex again.

if there was a good way to read manga and comics online legally most people would use them

but the only thing is comixology on amazon kindle and it sucks

Viz literally makes chapters free and it's not enough for some people.

A lot of manga never have and never will receive official translations though

Stuff like Hajime no ippo would literally be inaccessible to America if people didnt translate it themselves and its not even available online officially

Even beyond the free chapters, when I subscribed to Viz to catch up on older stuff, it was only $2 a month

I didn't include that in what I was saying, it's not the same thing. There's also kind of a gray area there, IMO, but people who act like "if only it was easily accessible online" and then pirate it anyway when it is make me roll my eyes

Thats fair. Fan translations are genuinely better sometimes though. So while I do have a Viz subscription and support official works when they are available, I do read fan scans for certain series

Thats why it still sucks to see them get erased like this to me

Jump has their own app. It's very good and it's what I use. Selection though is limited to just what's in Jump but they got stuff like One Piece.

Yeah..most the stuff I read isnt even in English so there isnt a legal way to buy it. I totally would if I could navigate Japanese websites.

All the most pirated stuff is the stuff available legally. Service issues are a huge part of it but in reality there's a large chunk of the world where the prevailing mindset is that you're literally a fool if you pay for something that you can easily pirate.

Viz has maybe 2 mangas that I actually follow and care about enough to pay for them. The problem is, $2/month for maybe 2-4 chapters of this is actually more expensive than just buying a fucking volume (in Japan... in here volumes are like twice-thrice as more expensive so it'd be worth it by that terrible standards). I read a lot of garbage whimsically, and no paid manga hosting site has much of any of that. Their selections are either extremely geared towards the popular masses, but even considering that, the selections are absolutely miserable. It's harmlessly cheap, but it's also quite near worthless as a service.

Basically you gotta start reading their random selection of garbage instead of my own selection of garbage. I hate shounen stuff with a passion, and the problem also is that 90% of manga hosting sites basically use shounen as the basis for their appeal, which also makes a bunch of these services feel repetitive.

I also literally read 1 Webtoon, and I'm not crazy about it. Kakao was the biggest proponent of shutting these things down, and the funny thing is that I will never subscribe to their expensive service. Most people won't. They did all this for a couple hundred bucks a month at most, cuz ppl are just gonna find alt sites til they die.

Have you missed numerous mods post on this board? Im not sure why you expected to be able to post a link to anything like that, regardless of whether there are snitches or not. This isnt some secret board where rules can be ignored. Continuing to offer it like that isnt the smartest thing.

Someone brought up Viz and that means jackshit to me since Viz doesn't allow me to read Ultraman cause i'm not in the states.

Its really not that serious of a thing where most of the mods theirselves including this board's most frequent mod posters actually care.

I did not link to the actual pirate sites theirselvles. In past posts about manga reading sites I have had way, way more blatant posts about this subject and nudging someone along to those sites compared to the 2 wikipedia articles thing I did last night.*

We even have some posts blatantly talking about the ex in the open with no one batting a eye. (I know we aren't supposed to bring up things like "well, XX user's post did this, so why am I getting moderated for my XX post when they did it?? in moderation disputes so I'm not even going to bother disputing my deleted post myself).

The problem is this websites rules' is in no way consistent combined with most people+mods theirselves being pretty lax in what they personally consider mod-worthy. Actually enforcing the more minor things is just at the whim of the one mod who apparently does think those sorts of hints in this inconsistent atmosphere is a problem.

Now if we had a easy, no-bullshit rule that states "don't mention piracy websites. Period." Boom. Problem over. You will no longer get weird-ass eyebrow raising things like post 22 mentioning the ex in the open like it is (and honestly should be. I ain't no rat so I'm not marking poster 22 or anyone else) casual conversation yet my very next post is kicked in the nuts for hinting at just another one of those post 22s.

Its the exact same thing with horny posting. No one truly, genuinely knows what in the fuck it even means. Most of the time its thirsting over posted images, but there has been times when someone got hornyposted modded for just......talking about how attractive a physical character is. (I got modded for this one myself. The post actually was reverted by the mod without me doing anything though......and a user went out of their way to mark that post in the first place).
