Wrapping up end of Act 2 stuff.

So how does this quest to collect corpses work with the killing enemies using tools? Certain tools for certain results? Are drops guaranteed? Only certain types of enemies?

You use specific tools for the specific drops, they are guaranteed drops, and (as far as I know) it works against any enemy though you should do it against a group of enemies that you either want to farm for rosaries (RIP that one group outside Halfway Home) or are just super fast to respawn + kill as the numbers are pretty high.

Does it actually work on Pilgrim enemies or anything that drops Rosaries normally? I swear I tried to get some from guys in the Citadel and couldn't, so I just killed creature-like enemies.

Finding fleas in Act 2. This is the first tedium I've encountered, and I've done most of the sidequests. Some of these little shits are in the dumbest spots and I'm not mad in the slightest that I'm using a guide for them.

I found her and two other fleas from the time of this post. She charged me 150 Rosaries to mark my map for "Bonelands" which is either Bone Bottom or a zone I didn't get to yet, regardless my actual map has nothing on it. Taking a headcount of the fleas at the caravan, I think I'm missing two but this shit is giving me a headache.

EDIT: Nevermind, apparently one in Far Fields. I hope this is my last one...
EDIT2: Fuck yes that was all of them thank god

I posted in the other topic, but I finally reached the boss causing the problems in pharloom Grandmother Silk . I'm about to try again and hopefully finish the game for now. Not that I'll be done with it at all, but I'll feel better having at least gotten the basic ending.

Got stuck for an hour on the White Ward boss, then went exploring again and found a second pale oil super easily lol. I bought a bunch of stuff for my home before talking to the nailmaster again, but know he also asks for rosaries? Bruh.

Instead of grinding I just explored the citadel some more, then went back to beat the boss I was stuck in. My next session I willl be exploring the bottom area of Deep Docks.

Got to Act 3

It was driving me crazy trying to figure out what I needed to unlock the last quest. Apparently I had to talk to the guy in Bellhart after doing more quests to unlock my home. He never had anything useful to say so I ignored him most of the time and I'm mad I could have had a crib for god knows how long smdh.

Seeing as I'm getting closer to actually getting to it: Is there any use in Act 3 for rosaries if I've already bought everything in Act 2 beyond just turning it into shell shards?

Final boss is a little tedious I have to say.

I know they're going for 'hard game, git gud' but it's more like you get punished for the sensory overload of having a yet black boss launch jet black projectiles at you which eat up the fucking screen in the latter phases to where you have a hard time telling what the fuck is going on with about three overlapping patterns of attack all going on while I get roughly 0.02 seconds worth of breathing space to think on my feet and figure out the one in a hundred course of action that'll not get my health bar nuked in the blink of an eye.

I fought First Sinner , and I gotta say, that was definitely my favorite fight thus far, maybe by some margin.

There are a few things that set it apart. For one thing, it heavily rewards aggression. You pretty much have that ZR trigger held 90% of the fight, and yeah I appreciate that a lot, even though the boss' teleportation was excessive on the first try. For another, the boss fucking respawns you right outside the door, which should be standard and up to the player if they want to return to the bench for their tools (didn't need em anyways). For another, there's a very clear distinction of what is a 1 dmger and a 2 dmger, and that alone sets it massively further ahead of every other boss design in this game. You don't take 2 dmg from just slightly brushing against the boss, and it's pretty clear the blade is more dangerous than their body.

Somehow it took me 2 tries, and on the first try I was already able to get to 2nd phase, even if it did take me a bit cuz I was still learning the moves. The only genuinely threatening one was the side needles. I swear to god every one of these fundamental type bosses have that one threatening move that's just a needle skirting the ground. Either way, this was THE boss that actually rewards getting better at the game. I know for a fact older me would've taken way more tries.

If every boss was like this, I'd give this game a clean 9/10, but I think there are far too many stinker bosses in the game that are literally just annoying and nothing else

I did 2 try Groal. I've read enough precaution to know exactly what to do, and well I guess I won't ever know how bad the runback is cuz I only really did it once, cuz my first attempt was with like 5/8 hp and running back from a side quest lmao. But Groal would be a boss that's just annoying. Yeah you can pogo him, but you can also just get gimped by his repositioning. Why even risk all that when there are cheeseable strats. I didn't care for the design enough to engage it when the runback was like 5 min

5 minutes of torture.

Considering how deliberately evil Bilewater is designed to be, I'd say cheesing the boss fight, after going through all of that, is fair game.

Groal took me 3 tries. One, I just fought him the intended way, tried to figure his moves out, ended up dying. Decided to look up strats for handling his moves because dealing with most of fucking Bilewater for each attempt felt like a really good way to put me off the game forever so I found the cheese and beat him on my third attempt. Second attempt I knew what to do but I entered that fight in bad health so I ended up dying before I could make a proper go of it.

it wasn't really a tough runback just a long one. I would prefer that over the gauntlet.

Just beat the Act 3 boss. Easily the hardest I've fought so far, but didn't take me as long to beat as 3 of the DLC bosses in HK1 (you know which 3). Still was a good 3 hours, but I wasn't really using tools and I was tired and hungry and dehydrated so my reaction times were just a bit slow lol. Only got through because cogflies are busted and let me basically just focus on not getting hit in the final phase.

This game kicks ass. Not perfect, and there's some stuff I like about HK1 more, but still EASILY a 9.5/10 for me, no question. I still need to find some stuff (1 mask piece, 1 spool piece, and two slab keys + whatever is in that section of the slab), but I'm more than satisfied with my purchase and game time.

It's really impressive that they made a sequel that's familiar enough to get back into the flow of things and feel like an evolution of the base they had, while also making it different enough that it doesn't feel like going back to HK1 would feel like a downgrade.
Look, I can name a few instances in MY life where I tried to reach mutual understanding
and i can TELL you, always faster and easier to just kill em. Just is!
Runback being long IS the difficulty. It's more about getting frustrated and bored out of your mind. I don't think there's a single runback in the game that can cause a death. But if by any chance you take a bit of damage, then you also gotta find a way to recover, which can extend the runback.

Also the secret bench in Bilewater doesn't really help that much lol. It's a pre-req but it doesn't really cut down the really boring pogo parts. It's still the longest runback that requires the most repetitive actions.

I did the Cogwork Dancer boss and that is probably the coolest one so far. Such a simple, ongoing concept that escalates in small but significant ways. It murdered me like twenty times and it was so fair that I didn't rage even a little. People say the Mantis Lords feel like a dance once you get it right and fittingly enough, I think this one does too. I don't usually pick up on stuff like patterns and stuff, but I was kinda getting to the point that I could predict where they were going to go.

Except for when they dive into the corners. I think half of my deaths were just because I could not internalize that they were going to dive into the corner.

I did finally have to crack a shard bundle on them. I mastered the first two phases enough that I could do them with no problem, then I just threw spike traps and caltrops around as fast as possible.

His mobs are honestly the worst thing about him.

I actually found the phases were it's just you and him to be incredibly satisfying. Then the little bastard calls in enemies that fucking kite and nuke you from orbit and the one brain cell I have to make decisions with gets pulled in too many directions.

Ive found I often resort to this strategy with these bosses: Lock in for the first part of the fight, then when the gotchya moment happens (see: second boss shows up, new phase, etc) I whip out random bullshit go with all my red tools.

Seriously getting skill checked. I watched my boy on stream clear both when we were up to about the same point. Cleared Karmalita then went to Coral Tower and cleared that, where we both started on Karmalita and I'm still stuck there.
Just go to Mount Fay and I have to say it was a beyond moronic decision to make the Claw Shot essential for traversal and then add in the fact that it costs Silk.
