Yet another reason that Im glad I dont live there anymore.
Brits might be even more obsessed with immigration per capita than Americans, and that's saying something.
Time is a funny thing, you know? I guess in the big picture of my life, you were only a blip. But oftentimes, those "blips" make the biggest impacts.

1984 is categorically not the USSR. Orwell wrote a different book on the USSR.

Successive governments have been wanting to bring in compulsory ID for at least the last 40 years.

But they always had to abandon their plans because the policy was an incredibly unpopular vote loser. People associated it with the 'papers please' mentality of Nazi Germany. Most European countries have ID cards.

Once again, it seems that hating immigrants is the thing that will get people to embrace authoritarianism.

So... we all lose our freedoms to deal with a small number of immigrants. Make it make sense.

(It's a plot by Palantir to control the UK population. Given they already have access to our health data and many other things. )
The bells haven't stopped ringing yet.

It's literally about Stalinism. That said it's not really meant to be a communist vs fascist argument but a warning about totalitarianism.

Again, Animal Farm is the book that is explicitly about Stalinism. Let's take a look at what Orwell said about 1984:
https://www.the-independent.com/arts-entertainment/the-savage-satire-of-1984-still-speaks-to-us-today-1098810.html
Orwell said that his book was a satire - a warning certainly, but in the form of satire. When Nineteen Eighty-Four was published, he read the American reviews in his last bed. Many of them took the work literally, as if "Ingsoc" represented Attlee's socialism as well as Stalin's, and thought that the writer had deserted socialism. He replied to an American trade unionist, worried at the tone of the initial American reviews, with a press release: "I do not believe that the kind of society I describe will necessarily arrive, but I believe (allowing, of course, for the fact that the book is a satire) that something resembling it could arrive." In the same letter he calls it "a show" of the "perversions to which a centralised economy is liable and which have already been partly realisable in communism and fascism".
If it was about Stalinism, he would have said it was about Stalinism.

1984 is a book explicitly about how Stalinism failed because they weren't thorough enough.
It says right here in Matthew 16:4 "Jesus doth not need a giant Mecha."

UK is like "No one can come here! We can go to other places though. That's fine."

No no you don't get it

We're just not hating gay, brown, trans and Polish people ENOUGH

Thats all

Who needs a silly little thing like rights, education, healthcare, infrastructure, a stable economy or a clean environment so long as Muslims and trans people suffer for no reason
^ Hey now that's completely unfair!

Kinda wild considering they are a fucking Island Nation.

They don't have a land border with a fuckshitload of other countries like most of the rest the planet nor do you got some stupid ass big several thousand miles landborder like the US or a few others do.

I post clips of my cool, stupid and glitchy MH Sunbreak and Tears of the Kingdom gameplay here just for fun.

Look.

Just because we take less immigrants than others AND refuse to offer than a safe and legal way to get here isn't our problem.

We truly suffer more than any other. /s

UK doesn't like the consequences of its colonialism. They can send their populace for past 'immigration' wreck your country/land after taking its resources then say it's your problem to fix don't come here.

No. It wasn't really needed.

The issue was not as politicised as it was in the US. The right wing government was fully in favour of vaccination.

Do it. Best decision I ever made.
As long as people vote in people who want to harm their country, absolutely LOTS of people asked for it.

And he was never anti vax in the first place.

It was all just a fraud to promote a vaccine that he had a financial interest in, over the existing one.

Yes, most do. Which in a way explains why the British always rejected it. It was something that petty Brussels bureaucrats wanted, and the noble, free Englishman didn't need (so nationalism and xenophobia, as per usual).

In reality most people have no objection to carrying ID. They walk around with driving licenses, bank cards, and passports. What makes this whole thing so fucking awful is that a) it will be massively expensive, b) it isn't needed, and c) it's only real aim is to target immigrants.

So it's another case of Starmer dedicating huge amounts of time and money in a doomed attempt to stop the people who hate immigrants from voting for Farage.

They dont' want to get rid of them, they want them to live is fear. The more afraid they are, the more likely it is they will accept how the companies treat them without raising a stink.
The ball is round, the game lasts 90 minutes. That's fact.
Everything else, is theory.

They will never go to those companies. That only works for the people currently there.
