Im a pop crazy homosexual so I dont say this lightly, but the boring songs on this album dont match the glittery and sparkly party vibe shes using in the marketing for the album. And false marketing makes me grumpy. The songs are mostly meh and hookless.

I heard there's a song about Kelce's dick.

I used to be a huge Swiftie. Life got in the way around Midnights and I haven't been as avid a listener but am still a big fan. Need to check this out over my lunch break.

I really liked the opening track but other than that i'm kinda bored. I might try to listen to the second half of the album later but yeah. It comes off as very juvenile

None of the lyrics I've seen seem that much worse than the rest of her "poetry".

She could never write. She might have had "help" before, but this is just the best she can do. Just doing basic similes like "Draw the cat eye sharp enough to kill a man".

1989 was the last album she put out that I found even remotely interesting, and anything after the Folklore/Evermore stuff has been embarrassingly bad

It gets convoluted as fuck because she went back and re-recorded her earlier albums and some of the "Taylor's Version" recordings are better than the originals. 1989, Folklore and Evermore are her best albums.

I finished listening to this. It's a decent album. There are some good songs. I think Opalite is my favorite one. But it's definitely not one of her best albums. It's pretty good but nothing special.

My wife is the biggest swiftie you will ever meet, and she hates the album so far. She said the writing is bad and there are none of the good hooks that Swift is known for.

I told her maybe it will grow on her with time. Her music has never been my thing (although she is clearly talented), but I just always hate it when someone looks forward to something and it doesnt live up to the hype. It is a sad feeling when that happens, so hopefully my wife will like it better with more listening.

Yeah, this is really good. Probably best since Lover. Really strong hooks where expected. Some of the songs are a bit more guitar driven which I've been missing in her more straightforward pop songs. Each song has an identity, where I thought TTPD was kinda samey.

It was actually you mentioning the hooks in your opening post that inspired me to comment, because my wife said the exact same thing. I assume others are feeling the same.

I hope it gets better with repeat listening for you too! And, if not, that her follow up is more to your taste.

I like some of the songs but it's not among her best. The Fate of Ophelia and Ruin the Friendship are the standouts for me right now. Maybe it will grow on me more but I listened to it last night and again today and it didn't happen yet. Being a grower has pretty much been the norm with most new albums I've heard this year that I had been looking forward to, other than Biffy Clyro's Futique, which I loved on first listen.
