Down bad?
this meme is silly. lady d is definitely designed to be attractive to fans.Referring to the comments about the RE9 monster and some about Marguerite Baker (specifically pointing out the insect form). I know it's mostly memes though lol.
this is all kids shit compared to the chris-thirsting anyway
Oh fuck, is "down bad" the latest zoomer jargon?Down bad is a pretty old term at this point
I'm too old for this shit. By the time I'm 80 I'll have to relearn the English language.

Oh fuck, is "down bad" the latest zoomer jargon?Bro what? Down bad is millennial slang. It started over 10 years ago in hip hop culture and spread beyond that around the pandemic. I don't know how you and multiple others have not heard it in the last 5 years, it's been everywhere online.

How tf y'all not know what down bad means
This is literally the first time I recall seeing it and I've been online practically every day since the early 2000s.Getting self-righteous about not knowing common slang isn't a particularly great look
Maybe some of us just didn't pay it any mind or keep up with hip hop.
Getting self-righteous about not knowing common slang isn't a particularly great look
Or are you unfamiliar with the phrase "not a great look" as well?

Mate, theres nothing self-righteous about the post you responded to here and the fact that you think there is says something about your own insecurity.Oh my, it's projection all the way down. Who can even say where it will end?

Mate, theres nothing self-righteous about the post you responded to here and the fact that you think there is says something about your own insecurity. While I agree with the bolded part in principle (I admit that I would not know a ton of metal-head related terms because I don't normally talk with people a part of that culture in my day to day), I disagree with down bad in particular being a part of a group of slang that only those who normally communicates with those in the hip hop culture for example would know about.
Different people in different areas (and countries), who socialise with different communities and who take part in different hobbies and have different interests may have different vernaculars. And thats okay .

Down bad genuinely is that common of a slang in the united states at least. Not just with random people of all races and genders (like I said before I have heard it commonly enough among fellow 40s peeps, those in their 20s, 30s, teenagers, and hell I've heard people in their 60s say it before), but no matter what culture or hobbies they partake in I have definitely heard it used on a regular basis.
*Because of this topic I actually asked my brother if down bad is slang that his co-workers use a lot (with him having more white guys and ladies than black n' hispanic peeps at his texas roadhouse). He said "to me its something that everyone normally says. Is it supposed to be somethin' rare? (I just mentioned this topic and how some peeps seriously never heard it used before).*
Like its a common slang used on video game, anime and manga related subreddits so its for sure not a slang that those who partake in the nerdier hobbies wouldn't have heard, lol.
The only difference between reddit and gamefaqs when it comes to hearing this slang used by the same type of communities is that reddit is way more of a bigger site so will have a vastly bigger variety of posters compared to our niche website and even more niche message boards.
Like I can believe someone who gets the vast majority of their social interaction on this particular forum not knowing what this slang is. Not because we are a bunch of anime, manga, video game, boardgame, and/or card game playing peoples, but because our user numbers is so damn small these days that we just have a higher average of those that don't socialize much (or with a variety of people. Like those who only have their parents around normally to talk with off the net. No shame in that) offline.
*And with how many times I see "who?" posted in response to articles talking about sort of recent yet well known among most of the general populace celebritites/music artists etc. like bad bunny and D4vd for example, I easily believe we just have a ton of these type of posters on the gamefaqs current events boards.*
You may even be right about all of this. As Ive said, I have heard it before (though not as commonly as you claim to have). But were also on a forum which, while predominantly American, has people from all over the world on it. I just dont find it so crazy that people might not have heard it.It's fine to not know every slang term - most people find that kind of stuff out through hearing it used and understanding its context. But also you don't have to draw attention to yourself with "how am I supposed to keep up with all this slang" and then get incredulous when people point out it's commonly used nowadays. It's also clear what "down bad" means within the context of the first post, so there's no need bring attention to it at all.

The normal response to seeing vernacular you aren't familiar with is to either figure it out from context, or keep it out of mind until you see it again. Or you can just look it up if you care that much.
Youtube is full of videos where popular classic rock or metal songs are played for a younger audience to get their "first time" reaction, and they seem fake to me since the songs played have been in various forms of media for years, but I guess it's possible they really never heard anything by Guns n Roses or Slipknot.
