This is a mushroom playing in the wild in some woods near Glossop in Manchester. The attached sensors measure bio-electrical fluctuations in the mushroom. The fluctuations are converted into signals that control the robotic arms. The keyboard playing a synth in Ableton Live. Our art reveals the hidden world of nature. Plants and fungi are often overlooked, but they're not so different from us. Scientists have found they can communicate with each other, remember things, and solve problems.

If you made an EKG monitor play a note from a scale then it would sound like a human heart was "composing" music.

I don't really like their experiment, I find it highly misleading by using the little robot arms and keyboard to make it seem like it's aware or "doing" anything at all.

No one ever said plants and fungi weren't alive, just that they are not conscious, despite attempts to personify them.

Plants "scream"? No they don't. Their cellular tubes make a popping noise after they are broken. That's not a scream that's the sound of air bubbles and sap popping.

This "experiment" might prove Mushrooms are alive but that's it. Big fucking deal everyone knew that already.
