Do you ever feel like Democratic Party leadership is completely incompetent?I'd be more surprised if people ever not feel this.
Do you ever feel like Democratic Party leadership is completely incompetent?
It's always so weird that the ages of politicians only matters if you are a Democrat.I'm not saying the Republicans are much better (see Mitch McConnell), but the Big Beautiful Bill only passed because 3 Democrats died in office and all of them were at least 70. There is a direct relationship between geriatric Democrats refusing to leave office and the Trump administration being able to enact its agenda. Since 2000, Democrats dying in office outnumber Republicans 2:1 and since 2020, it's 10 Democrats against 4 Republicans. This is objectively and quantifiably a bigger problem with the Democrats.

https://x.com/kenklippenstein/status/1983245244742193461He can tell her anything he wants.
Do we really need a FOURTH geriatric Democrat dying in office in just this election cycle? Her position is purely ceremonial and you can't even tell her not to run for reelection?
He can tell her anything he wants. She gave power of attorney to her caretaker. She has ZERO business being in public office and everyone, especially "leadership", should affirm that. Leadership isn't just letting everyone do what they want with no input; that's actually what happens when there is NO leadership.
Ultimately its going to be her decision. Like he said.
There is no benefit to be had by doing it in public particularly with no consequences. Unless youre Ken Klippenstein and want to stir up shit.
If her position is ceremonial and holds no power, why do you care?If Democratic leadership won't lift a finger to draw a line on a ceremonial position with no power, what does that say about the efforts they'll make to stop other septuagenarians and octogenarians on death's door from staying in office? We are in an existential fight for the future of democracy right now and Congresspeople who die in office rather than cede power to a new generation are a massive liability.

Having dementia should be an automatic disqualifier from office. If it's near the end of a term, kinda whatever. But if it's mid or earlier, there should be forced resignation and a special election. It's not nice but I would agree with this.
It's kind of wild there are constant discussions of democrats just appointing people like Hillary and Kamala against voters wills and that being a bad thing but then turning around and wanting democrats to just straight up kick people out against voters wills. What do you think a politician with dementia brings to the table
Having dementia should be an automatic disqualifier from office. If it's near the end of a term, kinda whatever. But if it's mid or earlier, there should be forced resignation and a special election. It isn't though. There are no means available to force a resignation. Democrats cannot simply "fire" her. So what would you all like them to do?
It isn't though. There are no means available to force a resignation. Democrats cannot simply "fire" her. So what would you all like them to do?Pressure her to retire herself, or the person who has power of attorney over her?
Pressure her to retire herself, or the person who has power of attorney over her?To pressure someone you need to have leverage over them. What will be the consequences if she doesn't retire? Retire, or else... what?
To pressure someone you need to have leverage over them. What will be the consequences if she doesn't retire? She's not a conservative so she might be concerned by the Democratic base hating her if she doesn't step down, or maybe be convinced it's the right thing to do.
didn't the republican leader of the senate just randomly fall over about a week ago?Nah. The usuals love to focus their energy on getting enough people angry at Democrats. In an attempt to either distract from Republicans, or treat them as equally bad.

lets go after the people with real power first yeah?
Nah. The usuals love to focus their energy on getting enough people angry at Democrats.
Like just even using the tweet for an example, Klippenstein has a long history of being less focused on Republicans. Who's the President again, and just had what looked to be a dementia episode in Japan?
Its as simple as "While her long years of service are admirable its time for her to take some well deserved rest and let a new generation take the reins of her office."I feel like just saying "no comment" would have been better.
Not "Uh Idk no comment but with a lot more words then just "no comment"
She's not a conservative so she might be concerned by the Democratic base hating her if she doesn't step down, or maybe be convinced it's the right thing to do.Who are you or Dem leadership to tell a constituency "you picked wrong, you don't get the rep you voted for"
Whether there is leverage or not a lower l leader of the democratic party can use their voice.
I don't understand this "well we should just do nothing and say nothing" approach
There is a direct relationship between geriatric Democrats refusing to leave office and the Trump administration being able to enact its agenda.
My dude, you support a dude with an SS tattoo. You have lost the right to ever complain about who a Democrat supports. Ever. It's gone. She literally has dementia. You aren't this dumb.
She literally has dementia. You aren't this dumb.
So Dementia is more of a disqualifier than being a Nazi, according to you.Platner isn't a Nazi. And yeah dementia should be a disqualifier to hold public office that shouldnt be a real question lol
Platner isn't a Nazi. And yeah dementia should be a disqualifier to hold public office that shouldnt be a real question lol
she also doesnt vote. She should retire, sure. Its also not the biggest deal.Lol idk how many times i have to tell you this but I dont give a fuck what you think.
meanwhile you will support the piece of shit with a Nazi tattoo. Youve lost the right to flap your mouth about any other candidates flaws ever again. What part about that is unclear to you? You failed the most obvious moral test and now you dont have the right to this opinion
Platner isn't a Nazi. And yeah dementia should be a disqualifier to hold public office that shouldnt be a real question lol
You see it's very important we concern troll about democrats, because we can't let people focus on SNAP ending in a couple days.
Lol idk how many times i have to tell you this but I dont give a fuck what you think.
Ah, yes, the usual suspects are in here to tell us why we have to never criticize the Democrats
It's a ceremonial title. But she really shouldn't be holding it if she now has dementia
Maybe not but he is a moron and unfit for office. Going to bat for him is not the hill anyone should die on.
Ah, yes, the usual suspects are in here to tell us why we have to never criticize the Democrats. Ever. Here to remind us we haven't criticized Trump enough so therefore we're MAGA.
You clearly do tho.
I also dont care what a dude who thinks old is bad but Nazi tattoo is fine thinks about this.Cool idc. Glad we're on the same page.
you support a guy with a Deathshead. Nobody here is letting you forget that anytime soon. You can continue making up fake scenarios and speaking for other people idc. Its incredibly silly.
Platner could deny the Holocaust and youd tell us its fine because some other Dems are old
