I really loved MKWii. I don't know if it's The Best One but I think it's my favorite. Like I'm sure later ones improved on it and probably 8 Deluxe is the actual best from an objective point of view but Wii was the one I enjoyed the most at the time.

Gotta love Battle mode Skyscraper. If you connect with the star at the right time, your opponent will lose 2 balloons, the hit and eventual building fall!

DS would be the best in the series if it were on a console. But it's held back by the DS controls (and by extension, the lack of easily accessible multiplayer). The content in the game beats out every other one.

Wii is top tier. 8 for Wii U is disappointing. Oddly enough, I enjoyed 8 for Switch.

The thing that killed DS for me more than anything was that they forced A as the accelerator. That button was so uncomfortable to hold for an entire race. Literally any other button would have been preferable.

Hmm, I don't really remember being bothered by that. To me the mission mode helped make up for the obvious multiplayer deficiencies - that was a great addition.

I don't understand why MKW gets hated on as much as it does (Blue Shells aside) or why MKDD has been climbing the ranks in people's hearts (two drivers weren't that special).

Actually I think I like DS more than 7, hm.

And as for Wii, I just wasn't too much of a fan of the level design and the feel of the game. It didn't really seem like a step forward

and it's also that I happen to like all the other games in the series, even super circuit.

Of the ones I've played extensively

DS > 64 > SMK

Although if I was rating them in terms of personal favorite games SMK would be ahead of 64

I agree with the first point, but on the second, 2v2 multiplayer is super fun. Like, try it again, it's way more fun than you remember.

I'm curious as to why 7 seems so unpopular. 7 and 8 are both top tier, but 8 is largely just improving what 7 was already doing. Is it just the handheld factor + weird roster?

Also really surprised at DD popularity.

8 > 7 > DS > 64 > Wii > DD > SNES

Well isn't that it? 8 was a refinement of 7's ideas, so if you liked what 7 had to offer, 8 was even better. Whereas DD was very unique so it has its fans who will vote it over everything else.

Eh 7 was on 3DS too. Without single player content and no realistic local multiplayer, had no lasting appeal. Also I prefer 12 player kart by far.

Eh, the multiplayer in DD isn't really anything special. Fun, yes, but not more so than any other game in the series.
