More or less moderate, but the current political climate feels like it's ricocheted me pretty far to the left.
Congratulations to BK_Sheikah00 , this year's guru to achieve contest enlightenment!

This, honestly. 2 years ago I'd have called myself a left - leaning moderate.

Are the greens that far left in the United States?

There was a time my rep was literally "the reasonable conservative guy"

How far weve come.

Of course the Republican Party isnt conservative anymore (just look at how blatantly anti-everyone who isnt a millionaire that tax plan is; thats not conservatism thats just corruption) so i shouldn't feel too bad.

I was brought up left-of-Democrats and that's how I've stayed. At the very least, that group seems to know what's wrong with the status quo.

Liberal but I wouldn't say Democrats because a lot of them seem to be abandoning liberalism too.

I was probably raised centrist democrat, but since 2016 and doing my own research I don't really know where I'd put myself.

Classical liberal? Definitely don't care for the socialism movement on the left, but definitely don't want much to do with the right all the same either. Maybe that's the same as a centrist democrat, but I really like the principles of limited government.
I don't know, maybe closest to libertarian. I value personal freedom but I'm back to thinking that the worst addictive drugs should remain illegal. I like limited government but I still want some government. I'm more pro-business than most people here, because I know that most business are small and the Apples and Wal-Marts are the exception. Liberals tend to care much more about the employee than the employer.

Classic Liberalism is "high taxes, low tariffs, limited regulations and social programs" using a lot of assumptions like "a great existing infrastructure" and "international competition being primarily in the realm lf luxury goods" its not a political ideology that reflects modern conditions at all.

this isn't shocking, but keep in mind many cons probably have me blocked
Why do people invent narratives like "More or less moderate, but the current political climate feels like it's ricocheted me pretty far to the left."?

Does it make you feel better/more enlightened/reasonable/obvjectively justified in your political beliefs? How does a political climate "ricochet" your political beliefs? Like oh hey trump is an asshole now i believe in gun control?

Just embrace your shit.
Burns then confronted him about the fart and Willie became agitated, telling her to shut up
It's more that I think the relative importance of certain issues has shifted. This is probably the wrong way to look at it, but if you took an average of my stance on the politically left/right scale it would probably fall somewhere in the middle or slightly to the left (which is still the case now). However, right now I consider social issues (which I was always pretty clearly liberal on) to be disproportionately more important than they have been in the past, when I placed them on more equal footing with other issues.

There's also the fact that for better or worse, "left" and "right" in modern American political discussion don't strictly refer to political beliefs, but also have some association with the Democratic and Republican parties respectively.

There is very effective pro-moderate pro-compromise propaganda that is ingrained in people. They do think moderate = objective. As if they are above the "two sides" because they are standing in the middle, oblivious to the fact that it's the "two sides" that defined their precious middle in the first place. And if mention all the countless positions that are actually above the "two sides", they'll get real "objective" with you then.

yeah, not taking the libertarians numbers at face value they would obviously be much lower.

still interesting though. pretty sure most people in general haven't even heard of "libertarians" (though of course they got a massive boost in popularity in '12 thanks to RP).
