I don't get this...
All the stars in the sky are waiting for you.
I'm not being serious. But dang, visiting Wormways and then doing the "Hero's Call" side quest was pretty sad
while you slept, the world changed
Oh yeah that's the sad part. The rest of act 3 isn't that sad tho iirc?
All the stars in the sky are waiting for you.
Green Prince was sad but overshadowed by the complete lack of reasoning for Hornet's actions that it takes to find out about it and end it.

Haha yeah I just didn't do that because it would've been wrong.

okay I take it all back fuck Act 3 so hard fuck the goddamn Coral Tower. YOU MEAN TO TELL ME there's a fucking THIRD GAUNTLET after the last two and I'm clinging to walls for dear life!? I thought those two big guys was pure evil and that had to be the end of it

I have conquered the Coral Tower and Crust King Khann. Truly some of the most insane shit I've ever done in a video game. Beat him on only my second try though. The journey to him was definitely the hard part.

Act 3 is insane and brutal...but it has my respect. Architect Crest ftw.

You need the double jump. There's a shakra ring near where you double jump. It's north of the bell station

Act 3 spoilers

Beginning to think I should have done the Courier's Rasher sidequest before the whole...y'know, the thing
I didn't do guru this year but azuarc can be in my sig anyways.
I don't think Courier's Rasher changes too meaningfully since you'd want to be dodging everything anyway, but holy god do I not want to imagine doing the Witch sidequest in Act 3.
Let the voice of love take you higher,
With this gathering power, go beyond even time!
The secret is I act frustrated about something in this thread and then without fail I do it successfully on the very next attempt

There are definitely a few extra enemies and some enemies now have range, but you're probably right that it's not too much different. It also might be that the extra enemies are only around void masses and they'd all have gone away if I just went and cleared them first
I didn't do guru this year but azuarc can be in my sig anyways.

I am not a fan of Mount Fay
Pro tips from someone who recently finished it
Get a second silk heart or the tool that adds a second silk bar, so your harpoon silk reloads faster

Dont mind the freezing damage in the first area, you can usually replenish most of it in the midway point and the area after that has freezing death waters anyway so health is of minimal importance.
I think only the first area is one where the freeze timing is really tight.

Never jump after you harpoon an enemy.

Never harpoon a lamp

Yeah the very first big climb has the tightest freeze timing and makes you think the area will be super hard (hell it made me assume I couldn't do it yet) but then the rest are fairly lax
Just go one bench at a time (the second one is hidden)
The final segment is not even long

Really what Silksongs main problem is to me
Is that it makes 100 % certain you will have to die to learn what the hell the game even wants you to do

Case in point, Sands of Karak
Now that level is bullshit in its directions

Huh? Sands of Karak is a platforming section that spawns platforms where you are supposed to go. Like it's difficult but the "where" could not be more telegraphed.

Unless you meant finding it at all. But even that is an issue of remembering to go back.

I beat it last night after 43 hours of play and 88% completion. It hit similar highs to the original, but had so many low points that I just found myself frustrated and exhausted a lot. Still loved my time with it on the whole, but it's not gonna be an experience I find myself wanting to go through multiple times over like I did with the original. Maybe a hot take, but they needed to shave the world down a bit. Multiple areas feel a bit tacked on and underdeveloped.

My biggest issues were:

The harpoon isn't very consistent and it taking silk stops you from healing (why does it take silk anyway?)
The freezing water sucks and if you fall in there you pretty much have to go back to get your silk after you die and it's a pain (and also you risk falling in again)
If you fall you have to waste time running back to a lantern or risk taking freeze damage

Overall it's just really annoying to play through (I did make it through though)
Wait that was it
Trobbio cmon man, you gotta have a third phase
I was finally getting to understand your moveset and having fun and then you die on me

Nah I mean some platforms get created while you are already in mid-air so I dont know where I am meant to pogo or harpoon until I am already falling to the worms
Its mostly the section after the bench that annoys me tho, because there you have to do it twice in a row.

The harpoons consistency can be improved with 2 silkbars at least and by remembering that harpooning enemies lifts you up immediately without button inputs required
I agree the freezing water is the worst, but there's only 2 long sections of those and none in the end. I just wish they were at the start of each bench run, not the end
Yeah, but most lanterns are forgivingly nearby

I think the only parts that got me in Sands were the part where you needed to use the Clawline or get a second branch going while you were still platforming on the first

Also the Raging Conchfly runback sucked

I will say I wish I'd had double jump for that area

The funny thing is they literally did shave the world down which is why we got things like the coral tower being a memory instead of a full area

Given it took place in one of those aforementioned areas, good. Still needed more shaving

I've come to really like the odd little bits of the map. I honestly don't know what I'd shave. A lot of the areas that feel underdeveloped still tell pretty interesting stories.

Take Putrified Ducts for example, on its own it's a nothing kinda filler area. But as the connective tissue between The Citadel and Bilewater it's genius. You could maybe cut a room or two but the role it's playing is good. I can say the same about most of the other areas. Really, I think if these areas weren't considered their own separate maps and were instead sub-areas like The Hive or Isma's Grove in HK, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Funny enough the biggest oddball zone in the game is just considered a sub-area ( theWisp grove ) but I think they gave that one exactly the amount of space it needed to get its deal across

So for K armelita , did y'all pogo bounce on her or fight her from the ground? I did the former but both seemed to have pros and cons.

Yeah I can relate to that. I think sometimes it's better to wait a bit at the start for 2-3 to spawn before you jump to the 1st one, so you can see ahead a bit more. But it's not super intuitive to do that.
While I tried the first game and couldnt get into it, have now started Silksong out of FOMO and I have to say Im enjoying it more. Not sure exactly why, maybe its less aimless. I still dont like the way these hames do the map though.
I just decided to change this sig.
Blaaaaaaargh azuarc
The most annoying thing about the map in both games is requiring an equip to show yourself on the map. I'm curious if there are any players who played through either game without that equipped.

I actively avoid equipping the items that show your location on the map even with no alternative because somehow it adds to the immersion for me.

I dunno, the climb from there still sucked. It was not as bad as Bilewater, but it was worse than any other runback I can think of so far.

yeah I did not equip that shit for the entirety of silksong

needed those slots for magnet and shards

The actual game design opinion I have of it is that it's intentionally a training wheels equipment you're meant to take off because you are supposed to become familiar with the map. There's enough craft put into every room in the game that I respect the decision, and I personally know I AM going to play to that point, but I can see it being annoying for anyone who is gonna do one playthrough and be done.

(also if you're on PC you can just mod the map)

i totally forgot there's a +shards charm. i never used it because i always used map+magnet but i can see how if you removed the map marker maybe tools become a lot easier to use? idk how many shards it gives. most of the other utility charms just weren't very enticing anyway. (though the one that reduces the damage you take at random is crazy OP for only using a utility slot, it's just free health basically, i can't believe how good that is)
uhh so weve had plenty of discourse about mt fay which imo is not that bad

but JEEZ does the double jump totally fuck up my entire platforming vibe. can I put the cape on a separate button than the second jump please
she/her
ooshkanor
i did hate that yeah i never got used to it (and in a few areas like where you're tightly maneuvering around spikes) it's really frustrating
Nah, even with the charm the tool economy falls apart in the mid-lategame if you use them frequently. All it did was staunch the bleeding. Genuinely the best strategy is probably to hoard them and occasionally go nuts with Architect Crest until you go broke again.

and yeah blue dice is just the best yellow slot item
