Hardest thing about living there would be the cut throat work culture
True yeah work culture is brutal. We had a view into an office building from our hotel and there were some poor souls in there until at least 8pm most nights, some as late as 11pm one night.

I'd like Tokyo a lot more if it wasn't so crowded. I couldn't imagine living there and having to deal with commuter traffic every day...
We did end up on the train during rush hour once or twice on weekdays and yeah it was pretty nuts. I was like uhh ok i think we're full now! and at the next stop 15 people would still make it in

It wasn't a huge deal to be crammed like that for a few minutes, especially because when it gets that bad you don't even have to hold onto a handrail/bar for support. If that's the hardest thing about living there then sign me up today.

Is there any trick to not paying a fortune for a flight? From my very brief research, that alone seems like it'll be more than half the cost of the entire trip
No real trick or secret unfortunately (if you find one, tell me). Set a bunch of google flight trackers and you'll be able to get yourself down to at least a small fortune rather than a large fortune. But you're absolutely right, the flight alone cost me more than nine nights at a decently nice but basic hotel (think like a mid-tier Mariott). Granted, I did splurge for Premium Select on Delta, but that was only an additional $400. Flight was still around $1,200 for basic seats. And with how weak the yen is right now (or even in normal conversions), everything is insanely cheap too. 6000 yen (around $40) covered the subway for the entire trip.

If you can get the flight, everything else will feel like pennies.

I would say change my mind but that would be a waste of time because it would be impossible to do so.

Maybe it's still my tourist goggles from getting back last week as a filthy American, but I've never been so astounded at how such a massive city can be so nice, clean, and well-oiled, while also being extremely vibrant and fun at the same time.

I'm sure there are downsides to living there, but with technology making things super easy for getting around the language barrier, I'm really struggling to think of anything. Not was was I thinking, "hmm I like this back home more!"

EDIT: And cheap too. Maybe it's because the yen is weak, but everything was insanely cheap by comparison.
Cupcake
Nothing. I let nature take its course. If I die it's because I'm weak.

The pool is 5 feet deep in the deep end. It looks shallow because it simulates a white sand beach. I'm not sure if you've been to one before but I've been to one once in real life and it's super hard to tell the depth in a white sand beach. It always looks pretty shallow because the water reflects the white sand and stays pretty clear to the bottom. You can tell it's getting deeper because the blue gets more intense in that area.
that makes sense
Cupcake
Can you explain the pool / water feature? I'm a bit confused. The way it slopes it looks very shallow. Is it just meant to be for aesthetics? Because if so, it's passing there. Just hard to tell if it's really something for swimming.

I reported one of these on 4/27 and my feedback ticket hasn't been addressed yet. Since this goes through the feedback system, if I needed to report another one, I wouldn't be able to since my first ticket is still open. Great system they have here.

App overload is annoying, but mcdonalds has a daily $1 any size fries on their app.

But generally speaking, yeah fast food has gotten so insane that I just go to sit down restaurants and really only spend another $5 for exponentially better food.

Let's be honest, though - literally no one is going to just post "hey, this is happening" without adding their own snide take on it. Which is where the political part comes in.

Like it or not, realize it or not, accept it or not, pretty much everyone adds their own biases when discussing current events. Even choosing which stories to mention and which to ignore (let alone which news sites you choose to link to) is playing into bias.
Generally speaking, I agree with the rest of your post, except this part.

I regularly would simply post a headline of something, link the article, and paste the article text. Nothing else. No bolding, no editorializing, no additional input from me. My entire topic creation style for newsworthy articles was designed to avoid TC slants and just let people talk.

Under this new regime, I don't even know if I can post news anymore.

I'm getting the sense that "news" and "politics" are being used interchangeably in terms of moderation. E.g. If someone posts news, it's probably got a political slant in some way shape or form, which allows the mods to delete it.

I went to Costco to get a few things for dinner and food for the weekend. At checkout, they were running a donation drive and asked if I wanted to add any additional money to donate. I said not today, thanks.

I then went to get a couple bottles of wine from their liquor store. They asked the same question about donations. I said I already donated inside (as I had a cart full of food and stuff with me at liquor checkout).

The cashier now thinks I am a saintly person.

Yeah ultimately his body his choice indeed, but make sure this kid conversation has been had. Not gonna pretend I know how long the two of you have been together, but better to find out now vs. later. If you don't want kids but he's hesitant to get a vasectomy, that might be a sign that his mind towards kids might change.

Yeah this really. It's disappointing, especially in a place like Las Vegas, but evidently it's not profitable to keep a restaurant open overnight when there are only a dozen patrons from 1AM-9AM, all the while you still have to pay a full crew of chefs, waiters, hosts, bussers, etc.

Probably the same with Walmart. Wasn't profitable to service the dozen people who came in overnight.

Nowadays maybe once a month or so, I just use some earwax dissolvent to keep them from getting too clogged.

Watching: NFL > MLB > NHL > NBA
Attending: NHL > MLB > NFL > NBA

Admittedly I am biased because I live in a town that only has NFL and MLB.

NFL is king for watching and offseason and fantasy and whatnot. That will never change.
MLB is a ton of fun to go to the park and watch in person, especially with the pace increases.
NHL is very hard to watch on TV, but I went to a game once and it was absolutely incredible. When you can see the puck, it becomes so much easier to watch.
NBA is really unwatchable to me, in person or on TV.

People should support (or not support) any religion they want, so long as they do not force their support (or lack thereof) onto other people. That's it. Be a Satanist if you want, so long as your beliefs don't impede on anyone else's.

Really not that hard, but unfortunately religion wouldn't be as profitable as it is without getting people to recruit more followers, and by extension, donors.

And all that doesn't even include the violent aspects of overzealous religious folks. When literal wars are breaking out over religion, something's wrong.

As I recall people were pretty excited about the sliders giving them more body type options as well, which also tends to tick off jerks.
No one is looking at this and saying "holy shit they added sliders I hate this because of that reason." If they just added sliders and changed nothing else and people were mad, you would absolutely have a point.

People are mad because they destroyed the way the avatars look in addition to implementing poorly designed body sliders. The sliders are just one part of the bigger whole.

If they actually removed existing customization options then that would be a legit gameplay reason to be upset (non-gender related), but then why wouldn't the TC have mentioned that in their first post instead of waiting for people to question it? Coming in on a bad note.
Because I legitimately didn't (and still don't) see it as a gender issue.

There's nothing transphobic or whiny about this. These new avatars are genuinely hideous. The new models look like developer pre-alpha placeholders and/or like someone pushed "random" on Fallout's character creator.
Yeah I legitimately didn't even notice that the outrage is being attacked for being transphobic... that's not how I see the changes at all. They ruined the faces, trimmed back the skin colors, removed shapes, and made the sliders essentially break everything. I'm 100% pro trans rights and can't understand why hating the new designs means people are being transphobic.

Make it make sense to me. I really don't get it.
