I'm not gonna spoil anything because the last 10 or so hours of the game are brilliant (at least until the last 5 or so) and should be experienced by anyone who enjoys storytelling in video games, no joke. It's among the best tales of revenge I've ever witnessed, showing how it affects the psyche of the avenger, and how easily will can be broken. It is unfortunately bogged down by a finality which goes against what every part of the story seemed to be trying to relay, but sometimes the journey is more important than how it eventually ends, especially when the ending boils down to, s***, I guess we need to have a final boss for our video game though.

Would love to hear more detailed thoughts on this. Though it's been 7 years since I played the game, I remember loving the final hours of Berseria, particularly the final moments between Velvet and her corrupted brother. I saw it as climatic moment where Velvet makes peace with her pain and ultimately surrenders her desire for revenge in order end worldwide suffering. I might be misremembering details, but the ending hit me as hard as any game ending outside of MGS3 and TLOU1.

Best JRPG since Persona 5. Ichiban is the Rocky Balboa of video game characters. Love him to death, and the cast is so good that I don't even mind the plot getting silly toward the end with the locker swaps and whatnot.

How is John McClane an anti-hero? Is this an ACAB thing?

He's not a traditional hero. Foul mouth, takes pleasure in killing terrorists, is generally a jackass, etc.

Made it to Last Judge and this run back is god awful

Just beat her last night. Absolute pain in the ass. I genuinely considered quitting the game, but now I'm in Act 2 and enjoying the exploration.

The sad part about this game is that the exploration is amazing, yet the bosses/runbacks repeatedly grind the momentum to a halt.

Abyss, Symphonia, and Vesperia are the holy trilogy. Berseria is next and after that there's a decent fall off in quality

Vesperia hasn't aged well at all. I played it for the first time in 2021 and tapped out after 2 hours.

Abyss and Symphonia were fantastic when I played them back in the mid-2000s, but I haven't touched them since.
