Also now I wonder if edwards would like Bryan more if he shaved his beard.
In stark contrast to Joe and Punk, Daniel Bryan LOOKS more like a serious professional wrestler. His ring gear all matches and has consistent style and panache, he's clearly in great shape and looks properly toned and athletic, and he carries himself in the ring like he's here to grapple.
The beard is kind of the ONLY "unprofessional" part of his image these days.

I also think that you could probably go back historically and make the case that Joe's biggest success has come when he is in his best shape, whereas the slumps in his career correspond to him not taking fitness as seriously.
Of course, in reality it's probably the egg before the chicken here, that Joe stops caring enough to BE in shape when he's not getting pushed, but hey. <_<

Well when he first started doing it as a heel gangsta rapper it actually fit his character's image.
He just never updated it upon turning face because he's just this Poochie-esque amalgamation abomination of a half-dozen "cool" character traits he's picked up over the years.

Mark Madden and Devon are arguing over Twitter about how lame it is that Devon wrestles in track pants and doesn't make the effort to look like a wrestler.
Well, "arguing" is a strong word, it's mostly Madden making the point and Devon saying "lol say that to my face"
I think it holds water. Presentation is a huge thing. Part of what Kevin Steen is currently doing in ROH is deliberately dressing in a t-shirt and shorts to wrestle in to piss all over ROH's image.

CrimsonOcean posted...5. Ashley Massaro (China)

Ashely would look so much better with a breast reduction imo. I guess you cant really see it in the pics I chose, but theyre just too much for me to handle. Aside from that, the lip rings are sexy and I like that shes a wrestler. I think her bad girl persona is super hot because, underneath that, Im pretty sure shes just kind of a sweetheart. And that makes her attractive to me. I mean, look at that second pic. Shes hot and adorable all at the same time. Also, I feel like having sex with her would be kinda like having sex with Kesha. Amazing and dirty, but somehow your whole body is just be inexplicably sticky afterwards.
Crimson Bang-O-Meter Score: Ashley gets 3.5 vags
out of 5. She actually got fired from wrestling because they found out that she was working on the side as a high-priced escort. $10,000 and you can have her!

And I'm fine with grudge matches ending in pinfalls, but only when the character motivations have clearly been fulfilled.
Take Punk vs. Jericho at Extreme Rules for example. Punk going for an inside cradle right off the bat would have been REALLY stupid. But 20 minutes into the match when Punk has battered and bruised Jericho and has clearly subdued him, I'm fine with just ending it there, especially as a face.
Unless you are some psychotic heel, eventually you do just want to end things and stop the war once you've clearly won.

Well yes, I was only half-joking when I said it was a credit to RVD's zen.
Gunner took away months of his career, and yet upon return he A.) had his priorities straight and didn't let a thirst for vengeance override his focus on a title opportunity granted him by Hogan, and B.) once the title opportunities faded and getting payback from Gunner now became a reasonable top priority, he didn't escalate the war, or show any belief in "eye for an eye" or anything like that. He instead took greatest satisfaction in proving that he was a better professional wrestler than Gunner (who most likely would have disagreed), and to me that's the sign of a mature and grounded individual.
Now apply that same sort of mindset to Sting vs. Roode. CLEARLY Bobby Roode values his status as World Champion above all else. He defines himself by his title reign. And yet here we have Sting, his enemy, consistently trying to place value in just beating Roode up in situations where the title isn't on the line. Roode doesn't care! You're not going to beat respect into Bobby Roode. If you really hate him that much, then the Hogan method is actually better: keep putting Roode's reign in jeopardy.

I'm pretty sure Vince would be opposed to it though.
Brock going to UFC 146 last night was a good move by WWE, whether it was on purpose or whether he just wanted to go. It helps sell the kayfabe angle of him quitting WWE and potentially going back to UFC, and it helps sell the angle to the smarks that Brock is unhappy in WWE and sees the greener grass on the other side of the fence.

They used 3 challenges IIRC. Kim/Rayne challenged ODB/EY, RVD challenged Gunner, and for his mandatory title defense, Devon challenged Bischoff Jr for eliminating him last week.
But again, ALL of those are logical matches that would regularly be booked anyway, since they all logically follow from established events. TO TNA'S CREDIT they logically make sense, but still it doesn't make the OFN stipulation night worth it.

As much as I hate to admit it, I think next time Open Fight Night comes around, a good twist next time around would be for Roode to challenge Hogan.
BY LAW Hogan would have to accept.

I think they should split up Gut Check and Open Fight Night. I'd rather those things be spread out to different shows each month.
Plus the actual Open Fight Night concept of Open Fight Night has been pretty weak so far. In two editions, nothing genuinely interesting has come from the "You must answer any challenge" deal. Everything except Borash challenging Bischoff has just been a regular match that would have normally been booked otherwise, and Borash challenging Bischoff was definitely not interesting.
I'm all for trying new things, but they should, you know, actually TRY a new thing instead of just renaming the old thing. It's a prime example of "lipstick on a pig."

It does kind of amuse me that SD begins with roughly the same sort of dilemma and on that show they actually WRESTLE to see who gets the shot.
I will give TNA a pass there though because the quest to stop Roode from breaking the record was extremely time-sensitive and they'd rather have someone fresh fight him than someone on match #2 of the night.

Amusing except from an interview with Nasty Boy Jerry Sags
On a shoot incident involving Scott Hall and Kevin Nash: "The guy I punched in the mouth was pretty powerful in the company, my old buddy Scott Hall, I wish I could take that punch back a million times. Hall and Nash came in, I didn't know Kevin that much
he became friends with friends of mine, Shawn, Triple H and Scott
Scott was different when he came down to WCW. I don't know if it was chemically altered.
"Everyone changes when they come out of that pressure cooker in WWF. It's stressful, some of the guys turn into backstabbers, some guys deal with the pressure in different ways. We were doing a thing
I felt this blow to the back of my skull, it knocked me out, I had a concussion, the whole nine yards. I was mad about it, almost the kind of thing I was gonna fight him then, but I let it go.
"JJ Dillon called me and said, we just need you to make the rest of these bookings, you're on the marquee. So we get into the match, I tried to stay out as much as I could, it got all screwed up because Six Pac was supposed to run down and do something, but he never showed up. Suddenly, I didn't know what hit me, I went down, I'm seeing stars.
"I feeling like there was a cut on the back of my neck, but I'm feeling back there and there's no cut. I look around and I didn't know who hit me from behind, I see Scott with a chair and he throws it in my face. I go that's it, I walked in the ring and just started hitting him with punches, knocked him out. It just happened like that, I didn't wanna fight him, it just happened.
"Something was building up there from the first time he hit me, then it happened again
. I hear this noise from the shower, Kevin Nash came in the locker room with a bat and was smashing above Knobbs head with a bat and was saying "we'll see who has the stroke in this company
that was pretty much him telling us we were getting fired. At the time they were practically booking, and I've just knocked the bookers teeth down his throat. When we watched the tape back, we see Oh my god! It wasn't Scott with the chair, It was Kevin Nash with the tag belt."
I am heavily amused by the fact that such a goofy wrestling trope actually works in real life.

Odd fun fact:
If you count someone entering the year during their first reign (such as Bryan this year) as counting, then 2012 is already covered, and there are thus only 3 years in WWE's 50-year history of having a World Title during which no one was in their first reign at any point during the year.
1974-1976. These are the three full calendar years of Bruno Sammartino's 2nd WWWF World Title reign, where he came into the year as Champion, and held it the entire year without losing it.
47 years out of 50 is still pretty good!

I just realized that a 14-year tradition may be in jeopardy this year: WWE's annual crowning of a first-time WWE World Champion!
The last time an entire calendar year went by without a new 1st-time (in WWE) World Champion was 1997.
Last year we saw an unprecedented FIVE 1st-timers walk home with one of the golds. Dolph Ziggler, Christian, Alberto Del Rio, Mark Henry, and Daniel Bryan. A staggering amount of fresh blood at the top, but it leaves the field thin for 2012.
So who will it be? Will Cody Rhodes dash to the title? Will the winds of change blow Wade Barrett to glory? Could trumpets blare for Santino Marella?
Or will the tradition end?

Allow me to indulge in some scheduling theory.
After reading the FCW taping reports from last night, and cross-referencing them with the calendar, the final tapings would seemingly bring the show to an end the week before Raw 1000.
What I theorize is that between now and then (the next 8 weeks), we'll keep the status quo. Since Raw will still be 2 hours, Superstars tapings will continue to be split half pre-Raw and half pre-SD, and FCW will still air on Brighthouse every week, and NXT Redemption will continue to be taped pre-SD.
Then there will be a wholesale shift to the new status quo all at once. 3-hour Raws, no more FCW, Superstars taped entirely pre-SD, and the NXT tapings from Full Sail will begin to air (on YouTube).
If my theory is correct, then that would mean 8 more episodes of NXT Redemption before it gets scuttled off.

From: Chronic1000 | #412 It's unusual enough CM Punk came out with the Brazilian Flag. The fact that he could "apologize" to the fans not get in trouble? Please. Punk came out with the Brazilian flag probably JUST SO Jericho could mess with it and get heat.
They just didn't grasp that they'd get the police on their asses about it.

Exactly.
It's like Finlay but with less dire consequences.
Jericho will be back for the PPV I imagine. He'll just get an extra couple weeks off before his European Fozzy tour prior to No Way Out.

It's not storyline, but he was supposed to leave for like a week in early June and then be back for No Way Out.

Turns out that the NEXT FCW tapings in late June will be the last ones.
You've received a stay of execution Biscuit. You still have 2 months of shows left to recap!
