man I really think this reboot is gonna bomb

everyone is sick of these universe-changing reboots. I mean big events are pretty unpopular and people only read them to keep up with the big changes, and I think this giant reboot is gonna change too much and people will be fed up.

I'm hearing nothing but hate at the shop. NOBODY is looking forward to it. they're pissed the status quo is changed and that their favorite books are being cancelled and that DC just doesn't seem to care

What are some good story arcs to read?

I kind of gave up on trying to keep up with comics like a year ago because I would get really bored with the filler between arcs. That and the marvel events were just getting overdone and bad.

Was looking more for Marvel, but DC would be okay (just I never really dived into the DC Universe, so I don't really know much).

Really liked X-Men: Annihilation, and have read mostly everything from the start of Civil War to the end of Siege.

start with something small like Planet Hulk or Green Lantern: Secret Origin

ALSO: What do you guys think about the Flashpoint pins? Do you have any? Do you CARE? Does your LCS just hand them out for free or do you gotta buy the issue with it?

We make you buy the issue but nobody even wants them unless we ask. We literally have about 200 Lois Lane and the Resistance buttons. Nobody wants the book and nobody wants the stupid button.

I have the whole set but just cuz I can knick them from behind the counter. I think I'll sell them on ebay or something

i'm gonna post about my annoying customers whenever they come in

we get this one guy who like comes in and never buys anything. he has a subscriber box but every week he only requests one book even though he ends up reading a good dozen or so. he just stands there crowding up the store and reads comics without paying all day. This wouldn't be HORRIBLE except he reads them OUT LOUD

OH NO HAL JORDAN RUN THAT THING IS GONNA EAT YOU

OH MAN SUPERMAN JUST DIED!!

and if you're talking to someone else he creeps in out of nowhere and butts in. he adds nothing except crappy opinions he read from the internet. he never actually does to see movies and he usually reads crap books

but the worst thing is when he goads you into a conversation. the kid can talk for HOURS to you about NOTHING. He'll just go on and on about absolute garbage that he reads, and you can't escape cuz it's a small store. the employees know never to acknowledge him, as rude as that sounds, but he "reels in" customers who don't know better

my manager downloaded a soundclip of a fishing reel spinning out of control, and now whenever this kid gets into a long convo with someone we play the clip and he looks around and goes "huh?! what was that?! did you hear that"

we also started hanging THIS IS NOT A LIBRARY signs all around, and my manager got a clip of thor yelling it from a What The video. He still doesn't get it, though.

Still, he makes up my shop's family. We have worse, too. this is why working at a comic shop is awesome even though it isn't at all

my manager told me a few weeks ago that Dan DiDio, who was co-head-publisher of DC comics, used to sneak into our shop with a hat over his head. he's ask what Marvel was doing, if it was selling well, and how people were reacting to DC events. then he'd buy some marvel books and walk out sneakily. always had his head down. apparently nobody ever called him out but one day a fan was like DAAAAAN and he went WHAT WHO WHERE and ran out without paying for some hulk comic he was holding

I tolerate Marvel crossovers, I look at them as being stupid blockbuster movies

but this one is REALLY BAD
