"the most iconic Pokémon ever" vs. "the most iconic legendary AND evil Pokémon ever".

Except how is it a rivalry if they have no connection at all? This is literally just trying to get Pikachu and Mewtwo onto the same team by any means necessary. A commendable effort, but there's no rivalry in there at all.

In fact, the Pikachu Mewtwo interaction in the movie is basically this:

"Pika Pi-Ka, Pi Pi Ka!"

"I can't enslave all these Pokemon and create superior clones?"

"Pika!!"

"Hah, that's a good joke. GET IN MY DARK POKEBALL!"

Yeah, some rivalry.

Ok, admittedly, Charizard/Blastoise don't have the most direct of rivalries, but they are the boxart icons of the most influential handheld game since Tetris. (And the Ash/Gary battle they had was epic.)
