Nah, Wesker is top tier, but he's not broken nor overpowered. People aren't used to countering him and abusing his weak spots yet.

Longsword +2...that's a weapon Euri could use, I think. And maybe Vance? Everybody else is tied to their weapon of choice though.

EDIT: Incidentally, imagining our russian dragonborn housewife charging into battle with a frilly pink sword in hand and a deadly serious look in her face is hilarious to me for some reason.

So during all that time, let's say Ashara was disenchanting those sickles, trying to figure out what that heart blade is, and making some potions and alchemy stuff.

I'm afraid you can't disenchant the sickles. Disenchant Magic Item only lets you disenchant items up to your level. The sickles are above level 5. As for the identification, what do you roll for that? And what potions do you want to make?

Actually, I'm pretty sure you can disenchant above-level items - you just can't ENCHANT them. And there's a feat to get around that, too.

Today, ITC:

-Euri tests Raita's acid powers...on herself. Gets predictably burned (there were controlled circumstances though).
-Gets help from Winter.
-Lots of poking into the Fury's past ensues. Valerian and Euri keep up the psychoanalysis on her, trying to understand why she still wants to go back to the Furies. Turns out Raita pretty much worships Queen as a paragon of everything she is, and wants to be.
-Much coaxing her about what she wants to do, and can do besides killing ensues. Turns out she used to while away the hours staring at the ceiling.
-Winter gets fed up with the psychoanalysis, and asks why Raita hasn't been punished for her crimes yet. Much back and forth on morality and circumstances ensues.
-Said back-and-forth ends when Val dares her to kill Raita herself. She doesn't go through with it, and breaks down. An attempt to comfort her is made, but isn't very successful.
-Small breakdown from our heroes. Euri tries to help as best as she can, but isn't sure of what she can accomplish. Val realizes that several of the things Winter accused him of (shying away from his responsibility over who deserves to live and die, being a hypocrite) are absolutely true, and that he just proved her point by gambling on her nature not being that of a murderer.
-A little bit more psychoanalysis as it's pointed out that, when Winter threatened to kill her, Raita didn't want to die, in spite of her words to the contrary. She's untied and given a chance to get some sleep outside the bag.

...And then nobody slept that night (AKA, Val and Euri didn't). Purely a talky session, but totally worth it for dat character development, son.

The trait of being a villain you love to hate, yes. Also, remember what Algus did? He killed Teta. Sonya just dumped Marial back with Rael, effectively killing her for our purposes (unless some seriously crazy shonen **** happens and we get to her). Also, they use ranged weapons. That, like totally counts! :P

pffffffhahahahahahahahahahaha people will f***ing cry about any goddamn thing they can these days. Beta males being beta males.

This EXACT same topic got made before 13 came out and this whole board whined about the game being a hallway. Now Square gives you all exactly what you want and the same people cry like girls. That map isn't even complicated, either; it *is* the happy medium people have been whining for since FFX. Have any of you people actually played a JRPG from the Playstation 1 era? Vagrant Story and Xenogears absolutely crap all over that map for complexity.

It isn't Square that "doesn't know what they're doing", it's Square's whiny mainstream hipster fangirl customers who want to have their cake and eat it too. This goes to show that casual gamers should never be taken into account during any game's design process because they are all completely clueless as to what they actually want. Whoever coined "the customer is always right" was living in Bizarro World.

13 was great, 13-2 is going to be Hall of Fame caliber. Can't wait to play it.

Ninja'd like crazy, man! Got there way before you did! :P

But yeah, more or less agree with everything, though less aggressively. This is Square Doing It Right, really.

-A second charge hit.
-Two action-pointed attacks with a WIS bonus to damage.
-An extra bonus to damage equal to +15, if properly positioned. This is per hit.
-Potentially, a punishment attack off-turn.

This with two rolls per attack except the double hitter, hitting on a 2, and before adding in Euri and Ashara's buffs, or the owlbear's aura. If we fight a single fight per rest, we will decimate it. We've got three strikers and two leaders. If we're not making mincemeat out of a target, we're doing it wrong. I would honestly suggest keeping the Furies within two to three levels of us *at most*, but giving them phases like Final Fantasy bosses - otherwise, we're going to trash them. Our focus fire damage is obscene.

I'll keep that in mind. It's okay, though. You may have taken out two, but they were the weakest two, anyway, and the others have gimmicks that will be, I expect, more problematic.

PS: Incidentally, what about Marial's fight would have made her so horrible for Valerian? Or was that miss Barbarian you were thinking of?

It was Shursh, yes. You'll have to wait and see what makes her a problem, though.

Sonya didn't get a chance to grant combat advantage. That would have been a considerably easier battle had Valerian hit on 13s and 12s instead of 15s.

(Also, I think that, given all the enabling power we loaded, taking her down like that is fair. Had any part of the combo missed, that would have been a hellish fight.)

You don't understand. Marial had silly attacks like an arrow that dazes the target it hits and then ricochets to other targets, dazing each of them. And she goes down like a punk.

I mean just look at the first map. If you want to explore all of the pointless branch-off hallways, you have to backtrack through the same hallways like twenty times. That's just ****ing ridiculous. Someone trying to get 100% could spend way too many hours in just that one dungeon, unless some of those hallways have nothing in them, in which case someone without a guide could spend way too many hours exploring absolutely empty hallways. The only remedy to this is if you move extremely fast in this game, in which case someone just trying to get through the dungeon and ignore all the exploration would get through the dungeon way too fast.

Again: Deus. You lose. Leá Monde. You lose again. This isn't a complicated map. You just grew less skiiled at games and less patient as you aged.

EDIT: You're also missing your armor bonus. Also, how'd you get six skills trained? Shouldn't that be five? And your damage mod looks high. A +1 weapon comes out to 4+1+2+2 (if you picked the bugbear), which is 9.

I care. I care a hell of a lot. Why would my character, who is a psionic armsmaster, have reason to take the armor and weaponry of his enemies (especially the weaponry: Vae Damno was a gift given to Val by another member of the Crisis Band, and has plot and sentimental value to him) for himself, instead of simply refining his craft? Valerian is not Rei. He doesn't collect trophies, and in fact he's more likely to bury someone with the treasures they wore as they died than take them for himself. It just doesn't fit his character, honestly. That's what it comes down to. The tried and true D&Dism of "random loot, get that phat gear on yo' ass" doesn't fly with him.

So he's stupid? >_>. I understand your point, but if items that granted magical abilities to their wielder were commonplace, it would be foolish not to take what you can get. It's not a matter of trophies or treasure, it's about power that you, as a character as well as a player, need to have a chance at success.

Yes, if you want to call him that. He's stupid. He's not practical, not interested in succeeding at any cost, and willing to take dumb risks if necessary. He fought to disable an inordinately powerful warrior instead of killing her, and prevented the rest of the group from returning her to a life of slavery because it didn't sit right with him to take advantage of a potentially irreparably damaged psyche for gain. I, as a player, do not particularly care about having a chance at success if it means taking out of character actions. If items are commonplace, we'll do some refluffing. It's not like we can't say that his Persona levels up and becomes more obvious or something!

As for inherent bonuses + boons, I was considering going that route for my own campaign.

PS: Boons and inherent bonuses are the bestest thing. I think you should still leave some room open for specific enchantments if the player is invested in them (like a Captain's Weapon, for instance), but handling most items as "you train under a master who teaches you hax tricks" or "you become more skillful!" is much cooler than random magic items.

More importantly, my issue isn't one of power - it's of style. I hate, hate, hate, ****ing HATE random items because I refuse to let my gear define my character. I had enough of that in all the games of 1st to 3rd Ed. I played. It CAN work, but I don't want to do that in this game. As far as I'm concerned, Valerian's magic items are reduced to a single one - Vae Damno, his blade, which is only magical because I liked justifying its effects as being imbued with void essence. The rest occupies a slot and is dutifully recorded on my sheet, but in the gameworld, it doesn't exist. If somebody throws Val a military badge and expects him to care, it won't work (to explain this, my neck item is a Badge of the Berserker. This badge does not exist except as an effect). The reason Valerian doesn't generate OAs on a charge is because of his martial experience, not a fancy schmancy item. Wishlists let me stick to the character concept I want, instead of forcing me to make Valerian into a dude who looks like he got his clothes at a rummage sale just to vaguely keep up, because Anagram decided that what was good for me was not only X items, but also a certain apperance as well (sorry for calling you out Ana, I don't think you will do this. I'm just mentioning you because you're the DM, that's all. We''re cool! :) ). That's all it comes down to. If I have to choose between item abilities and inherent bonuses, I will take inherent bonuses. It will hurt my capacity to contribute a metric ****ton, but it will also mean I am playing the character I want to play, not the character I'm forced to play. And that's what matters to me in the end.

PS: Seriously, if possible, I don't even want to see magic items unless they are artifacts or plot important. At all. If I can get inherent bonuses and boons from here to eternity, I'll be a happy man. The only, and I DO mean only item that is going to be physically represented from my wishlist is the Power Jewel, and even that one will (I hope) have special flavor linking it to Val's style. Don't force me into begging or scavenging for magic items man. It's not fun to me.

Interestingly enough, FFXIII-2 is apparently, if not a full return to form for the series, then a massive upgrade from XIII. One of these days I need to play it and see if it's as good as it sounds.

Yeah, there's a feat I can take that will let me create items of my level +4. So enough of this wishlist stuff. I'd honestly prefer getting somewhat random hand/arm/waist/foot items.

I'd much rather not force a fellow PC to burn feats just so the party can function normally, honestly. It rubs me the wrong way to ask that.

(And on a different note, I HATE random items. I don't want a christmas tree if possible, either)

"I don't consistently have friends available to play the game clearly means I don't have social connections"

Stop defending the godawful system with your idiotic retorts. The fact that you are forced to do duo to progress is terrible.

There's never a good reason to pass up an opportunity to snark. And good golly, this was one great opportunity to comment on a very silly argument.

Except for the fact that with a good duo, you're raising your chances of winning a good deal, while playing solo you have none of those advantages while still having to deal with the russian roulette of dealing with duo queues.

So yes, it is damn unfair because it basically means if you care about Elo, at all, you have to duo queue. And that's a horrible, horrible way to have it, but Riot lets it continue to be this way because they're an awful company with little real idea what to do with their game.

People who have social connections progress? Gee, what does this remind me of...

Level-appropriate items, of course, which I think in your case is any item up to level 6 in power. Correct me if I'm wrong, though.

Up to level 8. We only get one of those though.

Use whatever criteria you want.

I personally don't see how you can view this as only a matter of voice.

Because you're comparing a man who was part of a four-man unit that all worked together and fed off of each other against a solo artist. It isn't a very accurate comparison unless it's on their instrument, vox. Make this Queen vs. Bowie and you'd get a full package look.

Remember that Ditzie is an option.

As for my items:

-Boots of Adept Charging
-Horned Helm
-Upgrade to Vae Damno (not an item in fluff, but it is for the parcels)
-Power Jewel.

Incidentally, should we make wishlists for our items?

Like what? "Here's what I'd like to see in the future, maybe it'd be cool if we happen to run into a bad guy with it or a friendly NPC with crafting skills?" I had just kind of figured the party would meet someone capable with crafting.

Pretty much. The items we want to get.

Or that!

Doesn't work. Only crafts items to level, and you get items up to level +4. I'd really not sell a +4 item because nobody can use it, as it then gives us as much gold as a..level 4 item. One of the cornerstones of 4th Ed. is that you're supposed to get the items you want. Random loot pretty much screws the balance over.

Mercury. No question if we're discussing voices (George Michael is way up there too if that's what's up), but it's much closer if it's just music in general.

The problem is that Boxcars just...gets no spotlight. If he had some more time he'd be ranked third for sure, but he kinda gets glossed over.

2/10 what

Best song in The Felt.

BTW, was Sunsetter ever used?

Nope, I don't think so. As for the better songs, Swing of the Clock would be one of those for example.

I'm listening to Cascade Beta and Descend one after the other, and watching Descend with the volume off and Cascade Beta playing instead, and....I'm really just not even seeing a remote similarity here.

Do I really need to point out which parts of Beta are lifted from which songs, in a manner that parallels Descend? Because I really don't feel like doing it but I will if I must.

Flare has Dave and Rose drifting to oblivion, it's a very emotional part of the flash. Perhaps it's undermined by the fact SotDD and Jade going Dog Tier is so uplifting and such a memorable moment.

But see, that part isn't linked with Flare, to me. It's linked to an album track that encapsulates the moment.
