From: SmartMuffin | #103 The pool segment was just hilarious though, the fact that Mickie was apparently around just hanging out in her bikini ready to jump into the pool and defend Traci was a nice touch.
I also liked how it re-enforced the old TNA trope that the women are in reality far more vicious than the men.
Madison and Gail were trying to DROWN Traci Brooks. I mean yeah, Bully Ray was hanging Abyss by a chain at the end of the show over the ropes, but you never felt like it was an attempt to murder him. <_<

That's the great thing about where TNA has positioned itself (here I go again pimping them) going into Genesis. EVERY match has interesting, logical, and practical directions that could result from either potential result. I can sit here and say how I would book the show, but this isn't like Bound For Glory where every match was pretty much locked into "This match can only go one way or else it's a disaster."

From: Rad Link 5 | #093 Because their new TV show has terrible production values and doesn't even come on in most places. TNA, awful or not, can be turned on in the background on a Thursday night while you do whatever else you're doing that night!
Not that I've done that in a month or two, but maybe JaKyL does.
Hey I'll have you know that I watched every episode of Impact in 2011, plus all 12 TNA PPVs, and even went to a house show!
But that's not just limited to TNA. I also saw every episode of both ROH shows in 2011, plus ordered all their iPPVs and went to see ROH the one time it came through here last year.
And for WWE I saw every episode of Raw, SmackDown, NXT, and Superstars (even downloaded the episode that was never released in America), watched Tribute to the Troops, ordered all 13 PPVs, and went to a house show.
I am thorough in my fandom if nothing else.

You would think that Triple H stealing Test's wife would lead to a big feud between the two, right? Nope! They might have had a match on Raw or something (I don't even really remember), but Test was shuffled back down to the lower-midcard fairly quickly, never to return. They capitalized on his prominence in the storyline by...having him win the Hardcore Title from the Bossman.
With Vince out of commission, Stephanie and Triple H took executive command of the WWF, calling their reign "The McMahon-Helmsley Era." With the rest of DX as their muscle, they ruled with an iron fist, and one of the first orders of business was Triple H regaining the WWF Championship from Big Show on the first Raw of 2000 to become a 3-time WWF Champion, only the 8th man to accomplish that feat.
Also in a clear abuse of power, they had Rock face off against Mankind in a Pink Slip On A Pole match, where whoever grabbed the pink slip would keep their job and the loser would be fired (which is thematically backwards but still). Rock won and Foley was released, but the next week on Raw, the Rock and most of the roster held a sit-in to force Foley's reinstatement, to at least prove to Steph and Hunter that the locker room would not stand for extremely gross abuse of power, since they couldn't fire everybody or else they'd have no show. I appreciated the attempt at showing why the heel authority figures still had to operate within a certain ruleset that they could bend but not break, given that they essentially have god powers over the company.
The IC Title situation is murky. Jericho had a rematch with Chyna in which no winner was declared due to a double-pin (the old german suplex spot IIRC where the person giving it has their shoulders down too). Steph and Trips declared that Jericho and Chyna were now co-champions, each having claim to the title, with alternating title defenses, and that at the Rumble they would have a match to determine who would be the sole Champion moving forward.
WWE has since retconned this. OFFICIALLY now, as of the double-pin, the title was vacant, and the match at the Rumble is for a vacant title, despite how it's presented on the PPV itself. Because how can two people hold the same title? That's just silly and assuredly would never happen again in WWE. <_____<

From: voltch | #085 This may be just me being barking mad, but over the past 2-3 months hasn't WCW had a really good shot at making a push against WWF?
Austin, Taker, HBK are out of the picture and right now it looks like The Rock, Triple H and Vince are your rotating main eventers, surely with such a lack of depth WCW coulda closed the gap.
You do realize that WCW countered with unfiltered Russo running a storyline about how he was now in charge of booking and all the wrestlers had to follow the script or else they'd be beaten up.

Well I think it's pretty established that WWE has no idea how to build faces.
They just try to get people over as heels, and then once those heels become "cool" enough that they stop getting heat and start getting popular, they turn them face.
Looking at the current roster, that's how Cena turned face, that's how Orton turned face, that's how Punk turned face, and that's pretty much how Sheamus turned face, and those are the top 4 faces in the company right now.
Beyond them, the best way to be a top-level face is to just be a long-time veteran who'll get cheered just for being recognizable (Triple H, Big Show), or to be Rey Mysterio. And then beyond them, you have Zack Ryder who WWE had positioned as a heel a year ago who got his own damn self over as a face because WWE has no idea how to do that.
So I will agree that turning Bryan heel is kinda dumb and counter-intuitive, but given how this creative team operates, it's probably the only way he'll ever get to main event face status in their eyes--by serving his time as a main-event heel until he gets more popular than other heels and forces them to turn him back, like Truth is doing now.

But anyway, yes, most of my TNA praise is because they have a solid event THIS WEEKEND that people can watch, and also because it's not the wrestling that's abnormally good, it's the booking. To me, TNA booking being > WWE booking is extremely noteworthy because it does not happen often!

From: Lopen | #495 Like... don't they not really tour the entire US? I was under the impression TNA still did most of their shows from the Florida area and just branched out occasionally to places nearby. Do they go around the entire US like WWE does?
Not sure about how often they hit the West coast (although I know they HAVE been there), but yes, they hit everywhere notable in the Eastern and Central time zones at least annually.
EDIT: Those are by-and-large house shows though. Impact and PPVs are still at the Impact Zone 90% of the time.

From: Lopen | #492 Why are they going to London don't they not even have full US coverage yet.
They're much more popular overseas than they are in America, proportionally.
Not sure what you mean by "full US coverage" though.
And dammit people TNA is good right now. If they can pull off Genesis with no LOLTNA ridiculous turn of events happening, then I'm fully prepared to go on a topic-wide promotional blitz for them for as long as they keep it up.

From: User728 | #079 My 78 post Obama topic and 40 post Pokemon topic say otherwise. Hell, I even have you extremely mad at me which is why you are implying I have poor trolling skills (the common reaction by angry people). When my friends are even mad at me, I know I can pat myself on the back pretty hard.
Atta boy! Maybe there's hope for you after all!

From: ExThaNemesis | #015 Lame. I'm not really ready for the next gen yet. I'm just really finally settling into my PS3 and 360.
Oh well I'll wait awhile until they get all the launch kinks out and get them both after a couple of years probably. Or maybe I'll stop gaming and finally grow up this gen. Who knows.
You've still got 2 years!

I think the WiiU will be a success, but obviously not a Wii-level success.
I think the next gen will be a repeat of this gen where all 3 consoles are ridiculously successful, just the final placement ranking will shift.
Barring some drastic misstep, Microsoft should win Generation 8, and then it'll be a battle for 2nd between Nintendo and Sony depending on a lot of issues that we don't know yet at this time.

From: User728 | #069 Funny you say that since I just sent out a few resumes today. Using lawjobs and lawcrossing mostly...but also looking at craigslist even though it's extremely shady. Anyway, just because I have responsibilities, doesn't mean I don't have some spare time to keep refining my trolling skills. I usually get a goldmine topic either by discussing Obama or Pokemon.
As someone who enjoys replying to trolls as much as trolls enjoy trolling, IMO you have a lot of work to do. Although to be fair, I don't remember you before this topic so maybe your past attempts were better. Where's the constant spin? Where's the fight against the masses? Where's the edge-of-insanity-but-still-logical counterargument to people throwing logic back at you? I saw one attempt at belittling the opposition in an attempt to enrage them into destroying their own arguments, but I need more.
Ulti and SephG need to teach a course on this or something.

From: User728 | #061 You people don't understand. The Obama vs. GOP candidate is using the current candidates. The Obama vs. Republican states thing is just going by the parties, and not by the specific candidates themselves. GOP candidate can be any of the 8 candidates listed and it won't change.
I just linked to data that suggests that it does change when GOP Candidate is replaced with Mitt Romney.

From: User728 | #045 Problem with that link is that it only tells us about partisan lines...doesn't tell us about the individual candidates themselves. Just because a state is usually more liberal, doesn't mean the specific candidate (crappy 2012 Obama) will take the state. Also, Obama just needs to lose 1 big state, such as Florida, and then it's pretty much over for him.
It quite literally says that the blue states are for "Obama," not just "for Democrat."
And your math is quite horrid.

Because they consolidated the belts, and because in WWE language they aren't "women," they're "divas," the Divas Title remained.
Same reason the World Tag Team Titles got abandoned after almost 30 years of lineage in favor of titles that still aren't even 10 years old yet. Consolidation to one set of titles, "WWE Tag Team Titles" got chosen over "World Tag Team Titles" for branding purposes.
