iirc, he's finally awake (his wedding ring is his totem?), and he sees his kids' faces, when he initially couldn't, but the official answer is that it doesn't matter, from what I've heard.

that he's finally able to move forward with his life, or something like that.

that's an extension of what we got from the Soulsborne series (it might have happened in other games, but I haven't played them), where you had a version of asynchronous online cooperation, and could leave items in other people's worlds.

obviously Death Stranding expanded on that concept, but it's not something Kojima came up with.

...a movie:

Hideo Kojima has returned to his once dormant YouTube channel, HideoTube, after seven years to discuss Death Stranding 2, his recently announced return to the action-espionage genre, and to talk openly about a difficult time he went through during the height of the pandemic.

During the PlayStation State of Play January 2024 showcase, Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima announced his return to the action-espionage genre with a video game and movie hybrid codenamed Physint thatll have "near life-like graphics.

We dont know much about Physint, but what we do know suggests a PlayStation 6 launch is a distinct possibility. During State of Play, Kojima said production is expected to begin "in earnest" at Kojima Productions after Death Stranding 2 and in partnership with Sony.

In the new video, Kojima again bigged up Physints visuals. It will be both a game and a movie at the same time, he said. Thats why we were at Sony Pictures. A new action-espionage game. Of course, it will be a game. However, if your mother walks in and sees you playing this game, shell think youre watching a movie. Im not sure how far we can take it yet.

Kojima is of course famous for his fancy cutscenes and hyper-detailed character models. The way hes talking about Physint, it sounds like we can expect another leap in visuals.

Kojima then went on to discuss why he decided to make Physint, pointing to the many requests hes had to make another Metal Gear game. ... because I became independent, I wanted to do something new with my own IP, he said. So to challenge myself, I first made DS. Then, to create a franchise, I made DS2. And I wanted to do something even newer, so I started working on OD. And since then, there have been a lot of new ideas. But in the last eight years, every day on social media, from users all around the world, people have been asking me to create another Metal Gear and stuff like that.

Kojima then talked about a moment in 2020 during the pandemic when he became so ill he had to have surgery and even wrote a will. It sounds like a serious moment in the life of the 60-year-old, so much so that he considered leaving video game development behind. But it was a message from Hollywood director Guillermo del Toro, who starred in Death Stranding, that Kojima credits as saving him.

I fell ill in 2020, Kojima said. It was also during the pandemic, so I was sick and isolated during all of it. I even had surgery. And I thought, I cant anymore. I was at my lowest and felt like I couldnt go back to making games. I wrote a will, too. And in that moment, I realised that people die. But, I turned 60 last year. Ill turn 70 in 10 years. I hope to never retire.

Having said that, if the users desire it so much, I thought I should change my priorities a bit. I still want to do new things, but I decided to make an action-espionage game. I get many requests from Hollywood to make films, but Ive refused them. Because I have my own company now, I cant leave for one or two years to go make a movie. The company would collapse. I was in a tough spot.

And I talked to Guillermo del Toro about it. And he said, Hideo, what youre making is already a movie. Keep going as you are. His words saved me.

And since well be working with many creators in the business, though the output is a game, it wont be too different from movies.

Kojimas video is worth a watch as it goes into more detail on Death Stranding 2, revealing various story and character details while retaining much of the mystery hes famous for fostering.

Its a busy time for Kojima, who is working on Death Stranding 2, OD for Microsoft, and Physint for Sony. Theres also an untitled Death Stranding film in the works.

sounds pretty vague, but hopefully it means a summer/early fall release:

Konami producer Motoi Okamoto has confirmed Bloober Teams Silent Hill 2 remake is in the final stage of development.
Silent Hill 2 remake in the final stretch
Speaking to Famitsu, Okamoto, who spearheads the Silent Hill revival, was asked how development was going on the Silent Hill 2 remake, and while he wasnt going too in-depth, he did lead with this fact.
we are at the final stage of development. Unfortunately, there is little I can tell you at this point. As a game, you can imagine Silent Hill 2 is the same as everyone imagines, and is easy to play in modern times, and can be enjoyed with beautiful visuals that look like a direct form of memory correction.
The description of how the Silent Hill 2 remake will play backs up previous comments from Bloober Team that it was being safe with the game.
As aforementioned, we take a very safe approach to any changes. We remain faithful to the original title. Nonetheless, we are applying adjustments to certain areas where things need modernizing due to the passage of time.
Silent Hill made its return recently with a combat trailer for the Silent Hill 2 remake and a brand new free game titled Silent Hill: The Short Message, which was released on PS5.
The Silent Hill 2 combat trailer was the first time fans had seen the remake since its initial reveal trailer in 2022. The game has been in development for over four years now, and it does seem like it should be close to wrapping up at this point. A 2024 release still looks quite likely.

Okay but like... ignore that part. Pretend for the sake of argument that vaccines only worked on your child specifically, and didn't have anything to do with other children. Really try to imagine that scenario.

Would you get your child vaccinated still?
of course, if there was a possibility they could contract the illness(es) they were being vaccinated for.

there are a lot of other vaccines that we, people living in developed, western countries, forgo, though, and don't have to worry about unless if we're traveling to areas where those illnesses are a factor.

I say that to say, I would not vaccinate my kids for stuff like, Yellow Fever, for example, unless if it was necessary.

Don't forget that it reduces penile cancer, reduces giving cervical cancer to female partners during sex, reduces UTIs, and just looks better
I'm not sure if I'm convinced about the cancer part, but I'll check more sources on that.

the cervical cancer and UTI stuff is related to using protection and/or hygiene - I could be wrong, but I think males can also carry HPV which they can pass on to females, which can lead to cervical cancer. obviously it's nice to be less likely to infect someone with something, but if you're using the proper care, you're already mitigating most of the risk.

as for the "looking better" thing, I hear it's a cultural thing, where people are more likely to prefer ones that they're used to. like, if you're from a place where it's common to have people be circumcised, then you're more likely to find people who find it more attractive.

It's still a preventative procedure that guards against health issues. I didn't ask about the occurrence rate of those health issues, so I'm not sure why you felt that it was relevant to bring them up.

Most unvaccinated kids don't get polio, but I'm still glad my nephew is vaccinated against it.
I brought up how likely things are to happen because it should be relevant to the debate.

that example still doesn't fit because if some kids don't get vaccinated, then they can become sick and infect others.

if some kids aren't circumcised then... they might have issues if they don't clean themselves? might be likelier to get STIs if they don't practice protection, when they're (hopefully) old enough to decide on whether they want to be circumcised in the first place?

One could argue that circumcision is equally as beneficial as vaccines when it comes to preventing health issues later down the line.

Did y'all get vaccinated as kids?
not really as the majority of uncircumcised people don't suffer health related issues related to being uncircumcised, and the issues they might experience are largely related to lack of hygiene.

it would be like someone said, where you remove your nails to avoid issues related to not cleaning them.
