I think the celtics should win because they were far and away the best team all season, they deserve it the most. Plus afaik there's not anyone hateable on the team.

as a counterpoint here, i think the celtics can easily be disliked because their style is so uninspiring. a lot of the time they look lackadaisical and they shoot tons of 3s and they don't seem to grind out wins vs good opponents or make inspiring comebacks. makes it hard for me to love this team as much as i've loved some others, even!

i think RBY have a pretty ageless quality. my partner played through multiple gyms of it recently for the first time and liked it in many ways more than sword and violet.

actually, amending this a bit - RBY definitely aged and lacks a ton of quality of life stuff. but its simplicity and speed are still incredibly potent.

yeah, that's a pretty reasonable take, though i think since the pandemic started, playoff records and injuries have just been weird in general. the bubble was super-weird and morey detonated the rockets; bucks and suns managed to face a bunch of injured teams; warriors lucked into the mavs and injured grizz; nuggets managed to avoid a single 50-win team in their conference. this specific celtics run might be weaker than any of those, but sadly it's kind of been par for the course lately. won't apologize if we win but man, losing this one would be devastating.

the question for KAT was never really if he could fill up the box score though, it's always been softness on defense/physicality and lack of team success. WS is a stat solely based on box score

there's no space for KAT to work inside with rudy now anyway

(and without having watched the games, i suspect that's why the wolves looked "better" without rudy - offensive spacing)

not saying that the wolves are going to win, but i don't think this is really a thing

i think it's just expectations - the guy is one of the highest paid players in the league and was picked #1 overall. people at that level just get fewer pats on the back. wiggins is kinda the same. it's also just hard to shake a whole NBA career of losing.

both the bucks and the suns are just pretty lacking talent-wise. they're old and depleted of assets. coaching isn't the issue there anymore but it's obviously easier to change coaches than to recognize that there's no clear path to contention anymore. (with the caveat that bucks have more of a realistic path because giannis is still giannis and the east is so weak)

G1-5 is definitely lacking as a finale because of its super-weak villain
