ETA is just taking the claims made by 2020's Trump acolytes and trying to rework them to attack Trump for the purpose of grifting money. It's an extremely bullshit thing and while I mostly like Pakman him platforming this guy and this organization is embarassing when the claims, as they never have, explain split ticket voting that undermines the function of the rigging nor the matching of historical vote patterns.

When combined with the correct acknowledgment that figures like Musk and Trump and their most dedicate acolytes are incompetent and skirt by on influence or detail, the premise they can so convincingly rig an election comes into question if there are no obvious signs.

For the Democratic leadership, it is an unleashed partisan dog they can refuse to acknowledge but hope for assist, because it absolves that establishment of its blame in losing an election (or) the decisions that made it potentially unwinnable. Question's of Biden's health and ego can be ignored and thus questions why people followed this can be ignored if only you say, somehow, Arizona was "rigged."

It made sense logistically for Trump to employ this as a defensive strategy but a lack of willing voices and a court system unsympathetic made it thankfully doomed from the outset. I believe his intent was always to retain the Presidency but was simply told by many appointees and judges "No." under immense pressure even he could not discard with the then-existent military leadership.

For some to play this card feels more like a grift than an earnest attempt at anything. Even the most ardent "2020 was stolen" diehards conceded via contradiction they will simply win the next by "overwhelming fake votes," a premise that makes no sense given their explanations of how it was "stolen" in their propaganda fueled worldview.

This solely exists as fringe apologia for the current slate of Democratic leadership and acts an attempt to stay infighting ahead of primaries. Given the current leadership's weakness, it's a whole batch of trash that makes no sense. Even Bush 04 conspiracies, frankly, had more juice to them, and I think those are absurd.

Elections in this country are stolen by vote suppression and partisan court rulings. While it's unlikely Heitkamp was ever winning 2018's senate race, the decision to discard voter rolls on street addresses that didn't apply to native reservations when these votes were key to her victory in 2012 is a blatant act of voter suppression. When Florida's republican government and a conservative Supreme Court sidewind Gore for asking for a recount, it is a partisan electoral decision by the judiciary to falsely elect a president without a proper vote.

You can find no shortage of things things plastered in electoral politics but the precinct data spells it out loud and clear: Harris ran a bad campaign, either because she was not given time to define herself or because Biden's ego made the race short. Elon Musk kiddie scripting retreads of 2020 conspiracies isn't why.

1: He's an old guy and presumably has an undisclosed illness requiring semi-regular treatment. He is the President and has make believe money. There are no barriers here logistically nor is this unusual for someone his age nor does it indicate imminent death.

2: This is in the same mold as every "Trump is finished" story from his first term. The most likely answer is he needed a few days as a result of whatever illness he's refusing to disclose he has.

3: The Republican Party would not go back to Bush Era Republicanism should Trump die or lose influence. It will likely be even worse than it is now, and demagogues will take full helm in a race to be as depraved as possible on topics the moment Trump is no longer hovering over them. The only question is if this turns out voters like Trump did and that depends on the nominee.

4: Vance would be the same as Trump but present with a less harsh face and more eloquent words. He will be every bit as ruthless, likely be more successful in his job, and he less electorally poisoned if given the opportunity to helm at all since he won't have to endure as brutal of a primary.

I don't get why people do this to themselves. The party will get worse and we have to hope voters have a red line, and the premise any of this occurs because Trump isn't as active for 2-3 days and gets monthly IVs is absurdist.

As someone who has been an alcoholic, I still think it's ultimately appropriate. It's not an honor to the idea of being consumed by alcohol, it's just an honor to the person themselves.

I lost my mom in 2017. My only recommendation, and I know it's not much, is to try and get as much sleep as you can for a day or two. I hope you do well, and rest in peace to her.

Whenever I go back to watch GitS:SAC, I forget just how out of place the Major's lack of clothes are. The original's is still pretty heavily saturated but it veers into yellow more than white. Point essentially is that the style is sacrificed a bit for graphical fidelity which is a huge problem with a lot of modern games obsessing over minute graphical details when graphical limitations unto themselves led to stylistic ideas that people enjoyed unto themselves. It doesn't totally destroy its identity (the point of the scene appears retained in the top image with the light) but it sacrifices it somewhat.

I think even MGSV suffers from this so it's not like Kojima himself is immune to this lol

That all being said, I don't think the top image is horrendous. It retains the idea to some extent but not the stylistic intensity. I would just generally assume the game flubs a lot of this since it generally looks like it lacks a lot of visual identity from stuff I've seen. Does it ruin it inherently? No, but I think criticisms are fair.

I don't have a ton of stake in this whole debacle but yeah, the bottom one is more reflective of the game's stylization and is intending to demonstrate an emotional state. The entire ending sequence of the game stylizes through saturated colors like this. "It looks pretty" isn't a style unto itself and it can make things feel quite a bit emptier if environments don't reflect characters, and this is a game where they explicitly do and are intended to.

I think a BIG reason why Trump lost was because of Covid, and I'm worried the swing back won't be as strong this time. Despite everything including constant negative media coverage, his approval is still high. I don't personally know a single republican or person who voted for him that's regretting it, and I work with quite a few.

Trump doesn't need to be in office to win for Republicans, his endorsements constantly won, even when he wasn't in office. The Trump effect doesn't just vanish in 2028 unless he dies of old age.

His endorsements are strong on interparty conflicts (outside of Georgia) but his 2022 endorsements in contested races are probably the most generationally bad in the last 30-40 years. I think he has strong sway over who votes what within Republican spheres but cannot turn those nonvoting blocs out in midterms at all like he can in general elections.

For me this is a question of can Vance just materialize random guys like Trump does and I don't think he can, and lacking that, I don't see how he can win. He has nothing going for him and his one statewide campaign had the GOP effectively surrendering multiple contested senate races by pulling funding and giving it to him so they wouldn't lose Ohio. There's nothing here to me that screams "Effective" or "Capable" the way the nuttier people are.

Side note, but if Trump dies of old age, I think 2028's bench will likely be Carlson vs. Vance or some alleged inheritor of Trump's political movement. Without Trump to engage with it, Carlson will win a primary, and all bets are off on how a 2028 race goes. I could easily see Carlson making his play far, far, far too early and bombing, which is why I think he waits, lets the GOP simmer in anger, then approaches the bench to take it over as an outsider defined predominantly on white nationalist politics in a more explicit way in the 2030s. I don't think this would win nationally and would hope things don't get that bleak, but who knows.

I believe Vance is effectively going to be a 2028 fall guy while Republicans regroup. He'll likely win a nomination with Trump's endorsement but he is a very, very bad campaigner - his underrunning in 2022 in Ohio despite a lot of ground being moved for him is proof he's effectively incapable of winning nationally - and any bog standard Democrat wins in 2028 for similar reasons as to why Biden won in 2020.

The question has always been "What happens when Trump is no longer on the ballot?" as low propensity R voters only turn out if his name is on the ballot (and often won't even vote downballot, as 2024 showed with a number of split tickets) and Vance isn't the solution. The premise will be to dress him up as a "normal, reasonable guy" but the sauce that makes Trump is frankly the opposite of this. You need a populist ideologue or someone who has the charisma to pretend to be one. Vance is wholly incompetent, indecisive, and badly flanked from the far-right.

I think the most realistic outcome is Carlson is the 2032 nominee and he strategizes by biding his time in the fallout of a Vance loss. Im' not sure how any of this plays because I think it's very likely Democrats eat the GOP alive the next two cycles - but absent any solutions, the GOP will roll back up the same way they did after 06 and 08. There is no permanence until core issues are solved.

But I just don't see any members of the current bench being capable. Trump is uniquely strong as a populist speaker and none of his political hangers on liked, understood, or wanted him until it was solely necessary to maintain their careers or seek power. DeSantis is probably the most dramatic and obvious case for how all of this goes: They're all going to try and be Trump and fail so dramatically that they'll lose on low turnout. DeSantis has success in Florida, but he barely won his first race and Democrats rightfully concluded spending anything at all in the state was a dead idea after Nelson and Biden both lost the state.

The tactics are appropriate and frankly don't go far enough. Newsom, however, is trash.
