Honestly, very few come to mind.

FF9 came first, for being consistent, clear, and having complex, yet fun. The world is realized, the dialogue is good, and even the final boss has relevance if you understand thematic stuff.

Chrono Cross was another one. Sometimes it is almost poetic. And no, I dont have a problem with how it handled CT. I appreciate the direction, I felt it when we realized what went down, and it made it more heartbreaking.

The only other ones I can think of are VNs, which really shouldnt count. But Hotel Dusk and the sequel popped into my head.

Recently, I played Mad Rat Dead. While the dialogue isnt special, the themes are kind of a rare thing to see in games, or any story. A story about a rat who swears revenge on a scientist who experimented on him, after the Rat God gives him one more day to correct any wrongs he feels. He eventually comes to terms that not only is revenge was driving him mad, and that life is about the journey and not the destination, but he even goes as far as trying to understand the scientist, because he learns how to communicate instead of just acting on his feelings. I really appreciated the character development from such an unexpected place.

I actually like 15s world a lot. It just feels nostalgic and its really well built, and feels real. The rest of the game is debatable.

I think its just that a lot of complex games just dont have anything appealing for the masses. They are usually super geek scifi or super dingy knights of the round grey-fests.

Anyway for me, Id also agree with linearity. Id also go with length. Sometimes a short game is great. I honestly probably play arcade games more than anything, because they are fun.

Its not always bad. I think it got bad with FFX and 13 though.

FFX because there was already the linage of the series for having a lot of side content and out-of-the-way optional towns to find. X isnt bad in hindsight though.

FF13 on the other hand, is completely linear, has NOTHING to do besides battles, and the only side content that it has is an area with more battles. It has no sidequests besides that one mentioned before, no optional areas, and nothing to find for yourself. The game gives you everything as if you are a baby in a high chair and mom is saying here comes the airplane while feeding you baby mush.

It was a Christmas movie, where Batman gets captured and a very young Robin has to save him. I didnt watch it, but i heard it was good and funny.

We have been getting silly Batman stuff forever. Just last year they released a comedy Batman movie.

this was probably some scheme. A lot of times, companies do really dumb unthinkable decisions that nobody likes. Then they come back in a blaze of glory, and everyone runs back acting like an old friend returned from the hospital.

Watch them also turn the buildings back into the old colorful versions. They have been building a desire for nostalgic old days the last few years, with the McDonaldsland characters coming back, old Halloween buckets, etc.

We are about to enter a new era of redemption through nostalgia. And then they will do it again in twenty years.

I always point to Lukes terrible line delivery when people talk about PM. The series has always been plagued with these issues. Its just nostalgia.
