Yes. A heavy granite one, which is pretty much the only kind anyone should have.

For the doubters - consider how annoying it is to clean a food processor or a garlic press. Sometimes this is the better option.

I think you might just be bad at negotiating car prices.

I am too.

I'm not great at it but in this case there wasn't anything I could do. The car had failed its MOT which is a legal requirement in the UK. At this point it was a "pay $1500 to fix the car or scrap it to earn a couple hundred".

So I understand why it wasn't worth anything - nobody would be prepared to buy a car that is expensive to repair while being worth nothing to sell. But it makes me wonder how fucking wasteful the car industry is. Like, this thing ran fucking fine, it was like 90% operational, just not 100% road legal.

Like you get this luxury car. It cost 40k. It's a marvel of technology. A comfortable living room packed with technology that weighs several tonnes and can zip you across the country at a hundred miles an hour and barely shake while doing so. It has an engine that can do maybe 300,000miles and still run perfectly fine.

But literally the second they get in and drive it out of the showroom it's immediately worth like 10k less. Then a year later when it's done maybe 10,000 miles, it's worth another 5k less. This depreciation continues, barely slowing down for years.

Then you end up with the car I have. I bought it 5 years ago for $1200. It's 15 years old. It's done 190,000 miles. What is it worth? Like $100 to a dealership. But everything still works. Sure, it has some rusty spots. The paint looks like shit. It's maybe not as fuel efficient as it once was. But the engine runs fine. The mechanical parts all run fine. The electrics all run fine. It's somehow even more comfortable inside than it was when it was brand new. All that luxury is still there, and it still maintains the primary function of being able to zip you across the country at a hundred miles an hour, but what was once 40k is now worth not even 0.25% of that.

To sell this car, some kid turns up and offers me $400 and somehow that feels like a really good deal for me.

Fun fact.

Assume Bill Gates' net worth as a cash amount.

Every time he wanted a meal for the rest of his life, he could buy an entire mcdonalds franchise - 3x a day - and he'd still have over 80% of his fortune left by the time that he probably dies in 15 years.

Yes. Fuck the gold card. Bill Gates could spent 5 million dolalrs every for 15 years and still have over 100 billion dollars left, and that's without doing any kind of interest calculations or whatever.

I genuinely don't even know one. I've also seen her deliberately speed through a flock of birds.

My brother had a 3 series convertible (double whammy of convertible and bmw driver) and he was the kind of dude to steer with his knee so that he could text more easily.

I recently almost (ALMOST) bought a 1 series and couldn't bring myself to do it (or rather, i didnt want the headache), and now my youtube is dripping in BMW driver memes. Let me tell you, these people have no sense of humour at all

Neighbour's 18 year kid (works part time at a gas station, earns maybe 12k a year) became enamoured with another neighbours old Lexus because it had a relatively (for UK standards) big engine, like a 4litre V8 or something. Guy sold it to him for 1k because it's old and has all kinds of electrical problems.

the insurance for him to drive it is 400 a month.

I know you pay a lot in insurance in the USA but for reference, 400 is what I pay in car insurance for the entire year. 400 a month is also what you might pay in finance if you wanted to drive a pretty much brand new Lexus RX sport. So he's not even making a stupid decision that makes any goddamn sense. I want to shake him.

  • carrying a ridiculously powerful mythical creature inside
Best friend: Megumi/Sasuke
  • moody with spikey black hair
  • Child prodigy
  • Grapples with morals
Girl in the group: Nobara/Sakura
  • Fiery temper/tsundere type
  • Uses brute force in combat
Mentor: Gojo/Kakashi
  • Spikey white hair
  • Eyes/face partially hidden
  • easy going demeanour
  • Ridiculous once in a milennia prodigy

Well you see the larger size of American cars means they have larger crumple zones.

So in an accident the person reading their phone will most likely not kill me as they drive into me headfirst.

The grill on these trucks are literally head height.

In conventional car design, you will be hit, you'll roll over the hood and off the roof of the car. You'll definitely break your legs but you might survive.

In a truck (and often, it has a bullbar) you are getting smacked by a 7tonne wall of steel to the face. The only thing that's crumpling is your skull.

Youd have thought so but the UK is completely stupid when it comes to consistently measuring things. A lot of people will give you their weight in stone, their height in feet and inches and their tape measure measurements (for DIY) in centimetres.

Is it the truck or the wagon looking one. If it's the wagon thing it's probably due to perspective, as it does look like it has some ass on it. Makes it seem bigger when by itself.

It's the wagon. It's quite big by UK standards. Big old ass on it, longer than most cars around here.

(I'm slightly shitposting at this point, it's cool that you like your car and nothing personal. If I lived in the USA I'd probably be buying a truck too. but I'm serious about the truck criticisms.)
