Even though I have Below Zero installed I've never completed it, it just doesn't match the vibe of the first game.

I can point to a lot of small things like the sea truck being lame or the map being smaller but I don't think these are really the issue. I think it's just the sense of mystery and wonder and alone-ness in the first game. You're thrown in with no information, no tools, no companions or voices to talk to or even your own voice, no other NPCs. Just you and this hostile but beautiful world and you have to make a home and uncover a mystery from finding logs. You're not told what to do or anything, you're just given very vague hints.

They threw out so much of that in below zero in an attempt to tell a gripping narrative with characters and such but I don't think it worked.

Labour positioning themselves as "like reform UK but more stuffy about it" is an interesting strategy for sure

The neat thing about herd immunity is that even if you are smart and go and get vaccinated for certain things, you're still adversely affected by the large volume of dumbfucks who decided not to.

Couple of reasons why:

1. I enjoyed the elemental/environmental chaos in that game
2. The turn system was actually in turn, which made you think more about how to be strategic.
3. The high ground advantage was fun to play with (and more pronounced in that game)
4. You felt less restricted on what you could do on your turn (often in BG3 I am just ending turns with an unused bonus action, but that may well be a skill issue)
5. Bigger numbers more fun
6. IN BG3 using my spell splots in a combat encounter and then having to go do a bunch of cutscenes just to reset them is a bummer sometimes
7. As is having a very limited amount of spell slots, but I can't remember how that worked in DOS2

But there are a couple of reasons why not:

1. kinda sucked how you had to be careful about not nerfing your party with a bad magic/physical damage split
2. I suppose the not strictly turn based system in BG3 does encourage more discussion with team mates

Being handed a payment machine and being told "and you'll just be asked something on the screen there" and it's a multiple choice with the first percentage being 20% and it keeps going up...over a fucking pint being poured

Makes me want to rage

Of course. I used India to highlight a country that has an insane amount of productivity while having a very high level of poverty.

A lot of right wing arguments have this sort of conflation of GDP and personal wealth, justifying all kinds of heinous inequality on the grounds that we'll be more productive as a nation. Well, look at india. Fourth highest GDP in the world and yet a still very high level of poverty.

To clarify, nearly all of India's socioeconomic woes can be directly blamed on us, the british.

I've been sitting in this thought that no matter how bad things get it'll never get that bad, surely.

But like...why not? All the same technological advancements exist in India. What doesn't exist are worker rights, OSHA, sufficient workplace compensation, access to education, social safety nets. It's a giant overpopulated mess of unskilled labour with low social mobility.

Nah, this is an L take for sure. Team Cherry are making a good game, not swamping us in endless hype and giving the game to fans and kickstarter contributors ahead of games industry journalists. The game costs $20.

Honestly this is the kind of thing we should be celebrating, not getting pissy about because it doesn't follow IGN's release schedule or whatever.

Same experience for me with D:OS2, so I stopped at act 2.

D:OS2 is a slightly different breed I think because that game is so hard that every bit of loot and Exp feels incredibly precious, as does not nerfing your build.

I have been enjoying how much you can fuck up in BG3 and it not really matter too much.

• falling into trap of save scumming
• falling into trap of looking stuff up and trying to min-max my experience (even though I don't want to)
• keep inadvertently trying to make sure i don't miss out on key items and quests etc.

Still managed to fucking ice Minthara without even noticing, effectively killing off a whole ass origin character before she's had even a single line of dialogue. I mean I just killed an important character early game like she was NPC canon fodder.

I think I just need to let go and roll with this game

Well yeah that's kind of the point. If he goes to HR/payroll about the issue and they do nothing, then that's a labor law issue. But it will almost certainly get sorted out quickly exactly because of that reason

Finished that game with him, each shed a solitary tear

In terms of what you might be missing, One Piece is genuinely the funniest and most heartstring tugging show out there, and that only happens once you've invested into it. Like the show makes you cry at some ridiculous stuff while laughing at the same time, not many shows in any genre can do that.

Now that I think about it, did anything actually important to the long term plot happen in skypeia? That entire arc felt like a filler somehow. I liked it a lot but I can't remember if there were any long lasting consequences.

The live action exceeded all of my expectations by a really long shot.

They somehow kept the spirit of the show and the characters without making it *too* anime and without cheapening it for fans.

I don't exactly know how they managed to do that. Like Usopp doesn't act or look like the manga/anime version, and yet you still 100% believe that it's Usopp in real life.

They did an insanely good job adapting it.

MLS isn't la liga or anything but it's not exactly a beer league either.

The thing about soccer (more than any other sport is that) the talent pool is so freakin' large and starts so young that even in the lower leagues you have guys who are inches away in terms of raw performance to the top european leagues.

In any case, this level of performance at his age is just not normal. Like in the world cup, a guy in his mid 30s should not be all over the world's best defenders. The way he humiliated gvardiol lives in my head rent free.

38 years old. Most of the guys on this pitch are younger than 25 and he's got them all tripping over each other trying to keep up. There will never be another like this dude -_-

Now that I think about it, every character is using the same gear I've had since level one but Karlach has a blue axe, blue gloves and a green helment and boots. Derp.

Just not come across any good gear for anyone else though.

My party has a necromancer, an elemental wizard, a beast master ranger and Karlach. We're in act 1, level 4 characters. Just cleared the goblin camp.

Karlach is so much stronger than everyone else that it feels like I've derped my other builds somehow. Like she hits the most times, has the most health, does the most damage. She just goes into berserker frenzy rage time and goes around one-shotting everything. Every turn of hers feels meaningful and powerful.

Meanwhile my wizards be like "pew pew" and a bit of fire puffs out and does 6 damage (although it feels like I miss half the time anyway), and then I can't do anything useful with the bonus action. The most useful thing I've done with a wizard so far was to cast some kind of madness spell on one of the true souls and he basically killed half the goblins for me, that was pretty neat.

The beast master has some semi useful summons, at least. Does so little damage though.

I think the hardest thing to figure out about these scenarios is how to cover it.

If you just started randomly selling mountains of rare metals or saffron or whatever despite not having any kind of actual mine or farm or anything to plausibly explain where its all coming from, you're going to attract a lot of unwanted attention.

So that's got to be part of the plan. I think you'd need to invest in some kind of farmland as a cover or something.

Maybe this is why it feels weird. There's a definite shift away from "who the hellis this marine and where did he come from?" to "and the almighty Slayer of ancient History doth taketh his shiny sword of Wonder and slayeth forth..."

It's like the devs read all the online memes and were like "this is cool, let's literally write this into the lore"

On the one hand it's pretty funny how demons and even people are afraid of you

On the other hand hearing those audio logs and lore logs going on about the Slayer as a literal God is just a bit OTT

Seinheiser is my go-to if I want quality on a budget.

Great is relative, though. You're going to get audiophiles who will tell you you can't even get great quality at under a thousand dollars.
