Rean's... okay. When he's good, he's great, but still also feels less than Estelle and Lloyd. And it's true that he's not really a driving force of his own narrative despite his fate and role in Erebonia's events.

I will put another point in his favor though. Despite the story of Rean (and really all of Erebonia it turns out) chugging along a predetermined trail of cold steel towards an anomalous endgame, it's Rean's ability to touch people's hearts and inspire them that makes him... better? Like, he is a pawn in the games of so many players, but his value as a person makes him more than a piece. If he weren't Mr. Social Links/Harem Man, if he wasn't able to break through to people earnestly and truly affect people's lives on a personal, empathetic level, he wouldn't be able to get through so many things as he has. Hell, half the bad guys would probably still be bad guys or dead.

Again, he's still a level below Estelle and Lloyd, but his ability to pull people up and respect them and challenge their beliefs and inspire people has been pretty great to witness in spite of being a far more reactionary character stuck with a pre-ordained spot in events. I'm not going to fault him so hard for that when lots of Erebonian characters are also stuck on the same board.

My rankings are at work, and I don't remember where she ended up. I want to say she's between Millium and Ash.

And this last update was *chef's kiss*. Love all four of these Crossbellans. I'm playing CSIV right now, and two things jump out this update:

1. Randy is the best at nicknames. He likes you, you get one, and it's the best nickname you're ever gonna have. Why does this mayter with CSIV? Because Ash is such a tryhard who can't give someone a good nickname to save his life and will never be on his teacher's level. In my game, Ash just dubbed Crow "Mr. Johnny-Come-Crawling-Back" and I just sighed and wished Randy were in my party.

2. Very sad to hear Juna's going to backseat. She was so, so good the first Act.

It might be similar mood, it might be experiencing both around the same time, not sure. But they are knotted together in my neural pathways. It's been at least three months since I started re-listening and since the outset I have thought about the season 1 finale of Dollhouse. This is the first time I've listened to "Remains" in years writing this up, and they're just stuck together for me. The same melancholic piano feels? Those same feelings of isolation and being cast aside and what is left of you?

I can't really formulate what else the song evokes for me. There's a lot of quiet unease to the song, a lot like "discord" but also some kernel of hope that isn't readily apparent? I think of Dollhouse, The Talos Principle, past friendships, absent friends, lost family.... it's all very... gummy. No, that's not it. There's like a smooth, sterile emptiness.... why am I conjuring Mizar's Palace from Jet Force Gemini? I don't know.

This is why I'm taking so long doing these. Nonsense.

Grey area, yes, but I'd consider Morph a completely separate character from Changeling. Changeling was a one-off villain who posed for Xavier and was technically one of the first X-Men based on that. Thanks to him, we got Morph as an X-Men cartoon character. Whose presence there led to Morph being a pretty cool Age of Apocalypse character.

But, like Blink, I don't think he's be anywhere near this high if not for Exiles. He's NOT the Age of Apocalypse character (like Blink and Sabretooth), but shares the same design. He's completely his own character and a standout from an insanely good cast.

I understand that synopsis. It is pushes a lot of good buttons, and I love the instruments and percussion. Listened to Purple Rain for the first time last year and this song blew me away, even when New Kids on the Block steals from it to make The Right Stuff. I love how intense Prince's vocals get, and I know I nominated it in part because there was a song in my ranking (can't remember OTTOMH, but it was towards the bottom) that I negatively compared to this in terms of intense parasocial...

Whoa. There's... wow. Maybe it's headphones-on-computer vs. full volume phone, but the intensity is greatly missing from what I just listened to now. I remember being blown away and listening to this on repeat like five times in a row last year, and now it feels like nothing. Huh.

But, yeah, I totally get the triggering aspect and it was never intended.

Super Mario Land is on my list because I enjoyed it. The music is great, the level design is fun, the enemies are memorable and different, and I put more time into than many other games around the time I had it (at least before Pokemon). I much prefer it to Super Mario Land 2 at any rate.

My list has four novelty songs and something from a preschool show, so I was feeling it was aimed at me. I like my picks, but I think only 2/7 have any chance of going anywhere and if Karo doesn't like Billy Joel or Steven Universe than that'll take care of those too.
