I've begun to learn a new language. Probably the most practical endeavor I've ever taken on.

It's great for spooky season.

You can't go in completely blind, because the game straight up gives you a content warning before you start a new game, but the reveal is so much sweeter if you know as little as possible going in.

I haven't played it, but I've already heard about "the thing" about that game. Might still be worth playing though.

On one hand, it's beyond fascinating on a technical level. Like something straight out of science fiction. I'm so curious about how far they can push the technology.

But on the other hand...this is going to screw with a lot of different professions. The goal of technology should be to lessen the burdens and monotony of everyday life. Technology should offset tedious labor and make our lives easier. But instead all of this monetary gain is going straight into the pockets of the rich, only widening the distance between economic classes. In a perfect world, technology would reach a point where no one would ever have to work and yet be able to live comfortable lives. But sadly it isn't going to play out that way.

I went 25+ years without flying and when I flew the first time as an adult, I definitely felt uneasy watching the plane leave the ground. Thanks to the post-internet world, I've seen too many videos where flights don't go as planned...

Aside from the unrealistic premise of six beautiful woman being attracted to a guy who's broke and unemployed, I actually really enjoyed it. But now I'm incredibly sad because my storyline with Xiao Lu has ended ;_; I knew she was the one for me from the moment we first interacted. She was the only one who didn't have a lavish job, but still offered to pay my rent so I wouldn't be homeless ;_; She also has the most adorable smile. I did anything I could to please her, even if it meant climbing a fence into restricted grounds just to get a better view of a meteor shower. I would do anything for her!!

Ok, I probably shouldn't be playing these kinds of games. I get emotionally attached too easily.

I think there's some symbolism in the way that the tortoise is compelled to move forward out of necessity, due to the confines of its environment. Whereas the hare has total freedom of mobility, leaving it with no sense of direction or purpose.

I'm almost 40 and I don't feel it at all. Still feel as spry as a teenager. Though I eat well and get plenty of exercise through my job. The only thing that's been getting worse is my pessimism.

Just looking at my own personal situation, I think a large part of what fuels my depression is the complete lack of mental stimulation. Mainly, being subjected to the same environment day in and day out. Every day is just work/home/work/home/work. And the only time in my life when I feel a genuine sense of joy is when I'm vacationing somewhere new. It's like the pores in my brain open up and the gears start turning and do what they're supposed to do...process new information. I think monotony is the main source of mental decay. You can live in the most fascinating environment, but if it's the only one you're ever subjected to, it becomes no different than living in a jail cell.

Just my thoughts.

All jokes aside, you should try learning a new language. It's probably the most life-enriching thing I've done. Not to mention, it's probably the best form of mental exercising there is.

Nobody offers 4% savings accounts. But there are plenty that offer that level for money market accounts (my credit union has 4.25% APR with $20,000 or greater and at least $500 per month direct deposit) or CDs (my CU has 4.70% on a 6 month CD with $1,000 minimum).

But with the Fed cutting interest rates, the rates are probably going to go down soon.

I have a savings account with PNC that offers around 4.2%. So they must exist. I also use Amex's savings account as well which is about the same rate.

I'm not sure. I've never attempted a max. I know I did at least 10 on the last cruise I went on (pre-buffet) because the elevators were too crowded. So at least that.

Or to put it another way, stop obsessing over the things you have no real power over and which ultimately don't affect you as much as you think anyway, and just live your life. Appreciate what you have, and the beauty that exists in the world, rather than always focusing on the shit side of the coin. There is both beauty and ugliness in the world, and that's been true for every human who's ever lived.

You're living in the golden age of your species. You have access to amenities and abilities the likes of which literal emperors in the past couldn't even have dreamed of. To most humans, you have pretty much godlike power and privilege. People in the past would have happily slaughtered millions just to be you.

Act like it.

Don't wallow in artificial negativity because the Internet tells you to. Stop doomsaying, doomscrolling, and trauma wanking. Learn to appreciate what there is, and if you're still bothered by the worst aspects of modern society than find a fulfilling life doing what you can to leave the world a slightly better place when you leave it than it was when you came into it. That's all any human can really do.

Everything has always sucked, forever. That's the nature of existence. But everything is also awesome, if you let it be, and learn to see it.

But honestly, I think one of the worst things people are doing to themselves in this day and age is staying too connected to the internet, in whatever form it may be. For Lent, I made the decision to give up Youtube and Reddit, and during that time, I felt a very palpable cleansing of my mind. I experienced noticeably less feelings of doom and gloom, almost as if I were on a drug or something. And the effects probably would have been even greater if I gave up the internet entirely, but I was too scared to commit to that. So take that as one piece of anecdotal advice.

No. I'd prefer to be with someone who shares my love for IVE.

I've only seen a few and can hardly remember them, but I remember Rear Window and North by Northwest being my favorites.

I actually like all of these fake trailers. There's something about them that's charming. The Captain America/Avengers ones are good.

You can tell the AI is advancing too, as they're taking their glasses fully off, when before they'd just sorta turn like they were a hologram card.

I really like them too, even if that may be partly because I'm just fascinated by the technology behind it. But also because of how uncanny they are. They all look like something out of a dream, or something I really did watch long ago and have forgotten about. I feel guilty, but these trailers are more appealing than 90% of the stuff Hollywood has been throwing at us recently.

Had something similar recently. Talked for nearly a whole year, and then suddenly nothing. Nada. Zilch. And I know they were still around cuz they were posting still on the site even after they stopped.

I, in the most literal sense, do not know why they stopped talking to me.

That really sucks, especially after a whole year. I think the worst part of all is the lack of closure. It's always going to be that mystery that haunts me for the rest of my life. It sounds dramatic, but I'm just someone who needs answers.

And to make it worse, it wasn't even a romantic thing. It was a penpal (if that's still a thing) from the other side of the world. We had friendly conversations through email for about two months and discovered that we had a ton in common. Then suddenly, radio silence. And they didn't die in a freakish accident because they still upload to Youtube (where we first met).

I can't stop wondering, did I do something wrong? Either way, I'm done trying to connect with people. This is just the straw that broke the camel's back. I can't connect with people in my own town, and I can't connect with people who live 10,000 miles away. I just give up. I've tried so many times and I'm tired. I just give up.

Never heard of anyone mention these ever since the dawn of the internet. I wonder if more than a dozen people ever owned them. Apparently they're from 1993.

My cousins and I used to play it all the time. But we'd always hit a roadblock at the point where you're supposed to gas the raptor nest or something like that. We never figured out how to do it.

There's so much that can be said on the subject, but one of the biggest obstacles is how men in this generation are going through life with a handicap. They're automatically assumed dangerous unless they can prove themselves otherwise. And the only real way to overcome this obstacle is to possess a great deal of charisma. But if you look at it in reverse, no man is going to fear or turn away a woman because she exhibits socially awkward traits.

But then people will say, just learn to be more charismatic, while others will say to just 'be yourself', which are equally unhelpful, not to mention contradictory. Not everyone is socially outgoing. Some people are introverted, and we should be accepting to those who are, and yet they're led to believe that there's something wrong with them.

I don't feel like going on, but the point is, men need to possess a very specific set of traits to be desirable to to others, while women have a much lower bar to work with.

Even my 72 year old mom who knows nothing about pop culture can identify Pikachu. Although, she calls every animated character "a pikachu". So hmm, I don't know.

I'm not familiar with the legalese, but I thought there was a precedent that made clauses unenforceable when you state "you can't sue us for anything for any reason". And I've also read that you can't enforce any clause that any reasonable person would never agree to if they were aware of it. So if Disney said they owned your first born because you used Disney Plus, that wouldn't hold up in court because that's not something any reasonable person would ever agree to. I don't know if that applies to this case in particular, but it should.

I never walk barefoot, so the Lego one is completely inconsequential. So I pick that one.

I used to always wake up congested and eventually invested in an air purifier. Completely solved my problem. My room just generates too much dust and allergens, even if I clean it regularly.

My current level is "survival" and im trying to get conversational at least by the end of the year. but i keep falling in and out of the studying habit. I also have a subscription to talktomeinkorean.com (it was free for the longest time and i'll never forgive myself for not becoming fluent during those years lol)

Duolingo was my first go-to when I decided to teach myself Korean about two months ago. But I bailed quickly. I hate how it doesn't explain anything to you, and the audio files they use are really low quality. I got to the point where they teached basic phrases and one of them was 'ant's newspaper'. That's when I left.

I ended up learning about Billy Go's channel on Youtube. He has a 100 video series that is so much better. It makes a huge difference hearing explanations for how the language works instead of just bombarding you with flashcards.

But kudos to you for making it work somehow.

But like everything else that Disney puts out now, no I'm not interested. Nothing they do now is ever going to surpass the era of hand-drawn animation.

'Worst movie' is a hard metric to gauge, because sometimes you have those movies that are so bad it's good. But out of what I've seen, I'd have to say Dragon Ball Evolution. It had no redeemable qualities to speak of.

I've got another question, if you need to believe in god/jesus and have faith in him in order to go to heaven, does that mean everyone who has never encountered Christianity (such as uncontacted tribes, people in some remote areas, etc) and have never even heard of god will just be excluded from heaven without ever getting the opportunity?

We know that isn't the case, because God is perfectly just, which means he isn't going to condemn someone just because they had no knowledge of him. What happens is in the moment of their death, they will be made known of his presence, and they will have the opportunity to choose salvation. It should also be noted that God does not send people to Hell. This is a common misconception. Every soul that is there is there by their own choosing, hence the whole free will thing. When given the opportunity to make a full repentance, they deliberately choose the Devil over God. God wants everyone in heaven, but he isn't going to force you in there.

I never knew arrabiata was a thing growing up. I was always subjected to either marinara or tomato basil. Now it's my new favorite. The spice helps the spaghetti not taste so boring.

Universal Studios took out too many of their classic rides and replaced them with newer IPs that I don't care about at all. IoA is way better in terms of rides and theming. I'm not even a Harry Potter fan, but that Hogwarts ride was amazing, as well as the VelociCoaster.

Kudos for all the magnificent illustrations. Now I really want to see this as an animated series.
