People are weak. Granted not taking them doesn't particularly make you strong. Everyone's got ways of dealing shit, some healthier than others.

Fair reminder that humans are fucked up creatures. You can have scions of health that don't do any of that stuff, even avoiding sugar and caffeine and the like, live to like 30. On the opposite end you have cases like Keith Richards.

My mind is blown by how unpopular stealth games are. Or how many people when given the option, prefer guns blazing. To me that is more stressful and taxing than finding a way to sneak around enemies and taking them out while they're unaware of your presence.

Patience is the problem, people want the gratification right now and busting in like John Wick gives that to them, learning how the enemies work/path and taking them down one by one or sneaking past doesn't.

Probably because of the fact that a lot of people have limited time and some game genres kind of try too hard to introduce all sorts of mechanics that people just dont finish those games. Where as your more simple games are more enjoyable in the sense that even if you stop playing them you can hop back in no problem.

I mean, I have limited time as well. I can't say I've ever run in to a game so complex I couldn't sit down and pick it back up, even weeks or months apart.

I'm sure some old DOS games are so archaic they just aren't worth figuring out to people these days as an example, but even things like CK3 I can jump around a few menus and get a general idea of what I was doing in like a few minutes. Time isn't really an excuse for not thinking.

Most people don't play BG3 with even a single thought in their head. There's a ton of creative ways to get through the game, but almost every play through I see it's "hit stuff with stick, need to get to next horny scene"

That said, it's not just gamers. Most people in general I run across would vastly prefer to just never think these days, it feels like.

After what they went through just to get ABK, they would get absolutely annihilated on an international level for trying to buy out Valve if we're being honest.

I mean I'm sure they want to. There's probably even documents and a plan. I just would say it's not really feasible at the moment for them to try

For profit companies exist to make money. They don't operate a charity by offering guaranteed salaries. Public companies have additional legal and ethical standards to their shareholders to maximize profits.

A company should not over hiring or overpaying to the point it leaves the company in bad financial position. If they continue to operate in a way that lessons their profitability they are mismanaging the company, failing to uphold their duty to the shareholders, putting the future life of the company in jeopardy, and all the great things that the author of that piece thinks they should be doing will never happen.

At this point, most people don't care about that. People don't care about the company, they care that the companies policies and operations are making life miserable at the moment. People are tired of number goes up. That's more or less the point of this. That and how the entire innovation sector is basically focusing on how to remove the human element from the economy so these companies can just print money theoretically, although that's not really how that works unless they start recycling it.

Dunno, I've mostly gotten better at games over the years. Probably some of the old shit I did in MMOs purely out of time constraints.

A lot of old PS1 era shooty games give me motion sickness these days too, shame because I really want to play Armored Core Master of Arena.

Centrists as they are depicted are bad. Fence sitting and not knowing or how to take a stance and constant both siding... Yeah. As one myself, it's less about the middle ground and more not being beholden to political parties. To take a step back and look at what you think would really be better for the future.

Naturally no one's got future sight and everyone's opinion differs, but... If we're being honest, the "both sides" folks use it as an excuse to keep their heads in the sand. Everyone does awful shit. Everyone does good shit. Can still have an opinion on it all.

Of course a lot of centrists these days just use it as a shield so they can recruit for whatever political party they really support. See a lot of it for the Republican side these days.

Why not? I have always been able to sleep on demand basically, and can also stay awake for a couple days no problem.

Sleep enough to net de age myself a decade or so, and make some better choices that will get me way more than this cash, then get it when I hit that point again.

FYI these are the other stats these people answered:

Sounds like the people who answered this were largely really fucking dumb cause that doesn't seem like merely being misinformed.

It's legitimately about the "vibes", though yes I'm sure either misinformation or being willfully ignorant of these things is a possibility.

It sucks having to pay more while you don't see any tangible benefit which can pretty easily color your beliefs.

I hate how things are currently in that regard but that's entirely me, I know what I see is separate from the big picture.

Its interesting that the local economy in every state is better than the national economy. More people think they're doing fine, but that the country is doing bad. At some level, you can't have both.

People are eating out more, traveling more, buying more, and going "FUCK WHY DON'T I HAVE MONEY FOR GROCERIES AND BILLS" because a lot of people in the US have never had to budget between recreation and necessities because recreation was straight up impossible for a lot before hand.

Things are pretty good right now. We don't know how to do good.

Recession is code for "we're unhappy because we have to pay too much". We're not in a recession, but rising costs coupled with wage stagnation, and if there isn't wage stagnation just more rising costs, is really making people tired of the capitalism treadmill of bullshit lately.

People have lost any sense of accomplishment they get is the problem, honestly.

I honestly don't care about tech specs, as long as it works.

Yeah, basically. I only watch Rosemi and that's only because I was a fan before. Before I was watching a good chunk, Vivi, Aia, Scarle, Elira, and that's discounting Pomu and Selena. And it sucks because I know it's very likely none of those talents fault, but I still can't bring myself to watch them these days.

It's because graphics don't impress any more. Most people don't care about those lighting and particle effect improvements and just care about the overall product which outside of a very small handful of games this gen, there really haven't been any that impressive. The ones that have been also haven't been making bank exactly, either.

So, why upgrade? No real reason to since a not of stuff still comes out on previous Gen hardware.

Not to mention the competition from infinite garbage games on Mobile.

The fact that we technically don't own our appearance or voice is still fucking insane to me. The sooner AI voices get taken down or red taped to oblivion the better.

Like how Thriller held the record for highest selling album of all time, which made sense back then when you absolutely had to buy the music to listen to it rather than just go on youtube for free.

It's really both. The floor is way more accessible now. Way easier to get your music out there and even get respectable numbers on it, but the ceiling is also way higher to get to and stay at the top.

Honestly, feels like recoil/correction is setting in. Video game industry fucking exploded during lockdowns when everyone was trapped inside. Problem with a moonshot, in the economic sense, is everyone loves the ride up and thinks it's going to last forever. No one plans for when it finally gets there, loops around, and starts going down back to Earth.

I personally would never trust a cloud service. I understand why people do, and why businesses use them, but as just a random dude I see no value in just adding to the ways I can get my shit stolen.

It's weird because even though they split strider into two classes, it felt like the Warfarer class was their way of saying "See! You can play the strider again! And other different class combinations!" Except you have to waste one skill slot for the weapon change skill and thus remove the fluidity of the strider class.

To be fair on this one, you did only get 6 skills in DD1 and were basically using 2 by the end, but it was way more fluid. Wayfarer is basically the DD1 arisen, but less satisfying lol

Absolutely not. Even though I'm pretty opposed to $70 games, this is the first one I bought, even as a fan of the first, that definitively felt like it wasn't worth that price.

Diseases and climate disasters aren't new, but this climate one is a unknown. While itd been a while since humanity has faced a legit one, weev also never had the technology and communication we have now.

If you dont care about the future theres no point caring about the present. But people do care about the present, and should.

You just gotta carve out an existence that works and take control of what little you can. Theres value even in being a small force for good in the world, there always has been.

Warmer climate means we're going to get more pandemic-style diseases in all reality, so it'll likely be way more common. Climate change is definitely fucking us up already(Look at the Tornado statistics from the past couple years would be an easy one).

Being a small force of good is great and all, but these days it's pretty easy to feel like everything is crushing you under heel in the present, and the outlook for the future is pretty grim these days. Not to mention Millenials going through... three? Four? "Once in a lifetime" economic disasters. I'm still doing what I can for my retirement, but that's strictly because I want time to sit on my ass and play video games when the time comes until I'm too old to move. Most people I know though? They don't care about it, honestly.

Today, what do we got? The climate lookin' to give a whole bunch of people beachfront property and waking up all kinda nasty diseases. The economy not really following common sense any more, and even if it does we got crypto doing whatever the fuck it wants with money basically.

Big difference between then and now? Prez gettin' blown away, nukes flying, all that is controllable by humanity in some degree. We can recover. There's a lot of stuff going on right now that we're just incapable of fixing as things stand, and we're trying, but we're still a long ways off making anything better.

Not really a reason to care too much about the future these days.
