Eh, that's not unusual at all for women wearing a bikini. You put the jorts on over your bikini bottom when you're not swimming.

I'm much more concerned with her left arm apparently melding into the beach towel.

most countries consider it a vegetable. It blew my mind when i told people casually that watermelon was a good fruit, and everyone started correcting me. It was weird but hey, america and uk arent the center of the world.
Is that because the peel can be cooked in savory dishes? Anyway if I was in a culture that considered it a vegetable I wouldn't argue.

so do you consider watermelon a fruit or a vegetable?
A fruit. Is this supposed to be a trick question? Because it is a fruit by both the culinary and the botanical definition.

It is a gourd, meaning it's a fruit according to botanical categories. Some gourds are vegetables according to culinary categories, but not watermelon obviously.

Categorizing fruits and vegetables like this is asinine.

The culinary definition of vegetable is an edible plant with low sugar content and a relatively savory flavor profile. A fruit is an edible plant with high sugar content and a relatively sweet flavor profile.

The plants you listed are fruits by the botanical definition. That makes sense for a botanist or someone studying plant biology. But we're talking about these plants being used as food and drink here. Why shouldn't we use the culinary definition over the botanical one?

Moreover, there is no botanical definition of "vegetable" as a category of plants. Vegetable just refers to the vegetable kingdom as a whole, which includes fruits, grass, flowers, trees, even algae. So if we go by the botanical definition, either none of the plants on the list are vegetables or every plant that has ever existed is a vegetable.

So not only are you pedantic, you're wrong.

Powdered_Toast posted...
One of the things I found out while looking into this a few years ago is that Japanese comedians (or TV Talent, because they're also used for stuff like gameshows) are heavily controlled by talent agencies.
Comedians and "talent" (literally the English word converted to Japanese pronunciation tarento) are not the same thing.

Comedians, also called warai geinin or just geinin, have to come up through comedy talent agencies, with a whole bunch of rules and hoops to jump through, then work their asses off taking small gigs and developing their acts. If they're lucky, they get an appearance on prime time that blows up enough to make them celebrities and they use that to secure themselves a permanent slot hosting and/or appearing in TV shows.

"Talents" are people who are famous just for being famous. These days they mostly come from social media, but before that I think they were mostly models or entertainers with little success in their fields who were able to use their charisma to land spots on TV shows. Either that or some show that focuses on meeting and interviewing regular people would have some random person on who really popped, so producers would decide to give them spots on other TV shows. That's how it usually happened, although occasionally producers would even recruit random people off the street.

Anyway they're not the same but one thing that comedians and "talents" have in common is that they are frequently used as "filler" celebrities to round out panels and appear on game shows. There is a lot of overlap in what they do. You would definitely see both of them on shows like Susunu! Denpa Shnen back when they were popular.

That show was kind of the peak for a trend towards extreme physical comedy that had been going since the 80s. Comedians were basically expected to endure humiliation, grueling physical challenges, and even extreme pain in order to get a laugh. "Talents" were also expected to humiliate themselves and endure extreme, stressful situations. There actually was a public backlash to this show, specifically. That, combined with a lot of incidents where bullies would copy things on TV to torture other kids and injure them or drive them to suicide, made the studios gradually phase this kind of entertainment out throughout the 2000s.

Nowadays it still sucks to be a comedian or "talent" in Japan. You will work extreme hours for little pay unless you blow up really big, and endure a lot of humiliation. But the really dangerous and dehumanizing stuff is pretty much gone I think.

Yellow once again giving me more trouble than the so-called harder categories. I was definitely feeling less than confident with my guess for it even with only eight words remaining, whereas purple and blue stood out instantly to me from the start. As for green, I don't think I've ever heard of an everything bagel or an egg bagel. I'm far from a bagel connoisseur, however.
They're both pretty common. "Everything bagel" is when they take a little bit of every spice, seed, etc. available and put them all on one bagel. Egg bagels have egg mixed into the dough, giving them a yellowish color and slightly richer taste.

I don't think it's possible to get rid of auto-play completely because a lot of countries have laws against it for minors. I'm pretty sure it's still turned off by default for accounts owned by people under 18.

If the issue was you putting them in the dryer, then just say you'll put them in a hamper from now on. If that was what she wanted, then she's justified in being somewhat annoyed but she should also acknowledge it was partly her fault for leaving it in the washing machine all day. Say you'll put the wet clothes in a hamper or something and that's it.

If she just expects you to leave her clothes in the washing machine and put your own laundry on hold, then she is 100% wrong and unreasonable, and you should just get out of that house ASAP if you can afford it.

The kana is completely different. The words themselves use the same pronunciation.

Check the videos to see what I mean:

pronounced "sh"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2Cd_KNm67E

pronounced "sh"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afxBS3YWel8

Then in the latter video when they break down the individual kana, you can clearly hear pronounced as "he" but in the full word it's "sh"
They're not the same. Your ears (or technically the language structures in your brain) just aren't trained to hear the difference. To a native Japanese speaker, and sound very different.

It's just one of those things that will come naturally with practice. Especially if you make an effort to pronounce them properly yourself.

I'm gonna need some more explanation than this because the in () / (ashita) sounds exactly the same as the in
It's really hard to explain how to move your mouth during pronunciation just by explaining it. But I'll try.

Japanese and English h (as in "he") are identical.

One difference between English sh and Japanese that in English, when you say sh you slightly purse your lips, but you don't with .

Another difference is that when you say your tongue should be closer to the front of your mouth than sh. When you say s in English, your tongue is right behind your teeth right? Try putting your tongue slightly behind where you put it for s and that should make it sound more like Japanese .

To practice, try saying words that use the characters into Google translate or some other voice recognition software. Like maybe try saying... () meaning "scalp" and () meaning "investment."

I kind of wish there was a minor difference in the kana to let me know which one I was supposed to use like /
I really don't get what you're saying here, shi and hi are completely different kana.
