Just wanna say

The grind to get the six yellow ascension gems for 80 is the worst part of either Genshin or Star Rail. It takes forfuckingever and at least the artifact grind gives you other things and maybe some filler ones you can use while going for the optimal ones. Wanting to ascend Beidou/XQ/XL/Yoimiya and its just taking forever, even after converting all the ones I have
Yeah I remember this used to be annoying.

On the bright side, as you play longer it becomes less and less of a problem. Eventually you build up a pool of gems by doing daily commissions and weekly bosses so eventually you should never need to grind again.

In the meantime, you can get more by converting other gem types. Even if you're F2P, if you're getting all the wishes you can and using them, that should give you enough stardust to buy all the wishes per month while still having some left over to buy conversion materials.

That said, if other people want to spend money on it, and the company is being transparent and isn't using manipulative tactics to make people buy it, I see nothing wrong with it. I may think it's a bad deal but if other people want to buy it, that's their business.

I'm cautiously optimistic.

There was a time when it felt like every Happy Madison movie was just going through the motions, and was little more than an excuse for Sandler to take his family and friends on a free vacation somewhere. Sometimes they might have one really great idea but the rest of the movie is boring (like Dunkaccino in Jack and Jill). But in the last five years or so, it does feel like they're actually putting in real effort to make movies with a lot of jokes that are genuinely funny. They're not as good as the 90s movies but still pretty funny.

Also I think Happy Gilmore was the most successful they've ever been at making a likeable character out of the Adam Sandler comedy persona.

The term "internet meme" was coined in 1993, in reference to memes going around on message boards, Usenet, and email. Here is one of the first memes to catch on, a New Yorker cartoon from 1993:

I think the "Mr. T ate my balls" memes go back farther. Even if they don't, there was plenty of text-based buffoonery on BBSes and Usenet that would qualify.

Of course if you go by the broad definition, there are things from 100+ years or more ago like "shave and a haircut, two bits" that qualify as a meme.

Yeah that's one of the "wildly inappropriate" things I mentioned that no one really denies happened.

Also like I said, I don't know how illegal even the allegations were at the time. Talking explicitly about sex and french kissing, for example, I'm pretty sure they would be illegal in any state right now. But they didn't use to be, just because the laws weren't clearly defined yet. Until the later part of the 20th century, basically if you weren't putting a penis inside another person, the law didn't address it. And then it took decades of modifying laws and setting legal precedent to get to where we are today. I don't know what the laws and precedents were at the time. So maybe the reason MJ was "exonerated" is not so much lack of evidence, as much as they couldn't prosecute him for the things he was accused of doing.

A lot of people assume calling him a pedophile means he raped children. And it's true, there's no evidence of that. However there is very strong evidence of him doing weird, extremely inappropriate things with kids. The question is whether he took things to the point where they were illegal. Especially in the 1980s, when laws about that thing were a lot less strict and a lot more ambiguous.

His music was great, obviously, some of the best of all time.

With online netcode getting better (because the Japanese devs are now FINALLY putting in rollback netcode into their games) there's only soo much you can blame "lag" or "inputs" until you realize that the main reason you're losing is simply a skill issue.
Even if it's rare, I think the uncertainty is what bothers a lot of people. What if you're in the middle of match and lag is what costs you the victory? It's very frustrating. Not only does being in a team soften the blow a bit, but also 1v1 play tends to be shorter, more intense matches where every second counts. So even a small amount of lag could conceivably cost you a match. I think a lot of people just don't want to risk it.

Also when it's 1v1 I think people want to be able to see and interact with the person in real time more. Playing with random strangers that you never meet can be lonely, but feeling like part of a team makes it less so.

That said, Dems have won virtually every type of election, from special, to general, to local to state and national House and Senate hard since 2018, with zero signs of slowing down. Hell, they just won in ALABAMA running on abortion rights, of all things. The GOP is in shambles of infighting and is running out of money. There's no reason to believe Biden is the weaker candidate, here.
I agree with this.

But Hillary Clinton was also the stronger candidate.

What I'm saying is, there's plenty of reason to be cautiously optimistic but it's important that we NEVER treat this election like we've already won.

So with this all in mind isnt safe to say we were the bad guys during the Iraq war?

MrMojoRising posted...
Yes, this was clear to many people at the time as well.
I'm going to disagree because saying we were "the bad guys" implies a good guy vs. bad guy dynamic, and that is the wrong way to look at the Iraq War. I would say that kind of thinking is part of what got us into that war in the first place.

Because Sadaam Hussein was an absolute monster who slaughtered and tortured even his own people, hundreds of thousands of them, that mindset allows you to see yourself as "the good guys" as long as you're less evil than him. Make no mistake, Sadaam Hussein did worse things than the US did in Iraq, but that doesn't justify anything we did. Especially because the US utterly failed to give Iraq a new, stable government.

The people that the US fought against were also not "good guys." They were largely terrorist groups. ISIS came out of these groups. Many of them were no doubt intentionally trying to increase the death toll and make the US look bad.

They killed more people than the US army. Still, the US is partly responsible because the chaos we created allowed them to thrive. If we had done the war more competently, they probably would have been far less effective. And again, this does nothing to justify American torture, American war crimes, or the decision to outsource much of the combat to mercenary groups made up of people who thought the US army wasn't violent enough.

The USA was wrong. There is no need to compare us to other sides in the conflict and ask who is "the bad guy." It's irrelevant.

Choosing the right dating app is important. Tinder is one of the worst, it's like 75% men, and out of the remaining 25% lots of them are bots or scam artists. Bumble is better, like 33% female I believe, and supposedly women are better about messaging especially if you go on the site looking for a long-term relationship. And match.com has always been close to 50/50.

But there are other factors too. Like, if you live in an area where almost nobody uses dating apps, obviously you're going to have a terrible time trying to get a date on them.

Sadaam Hussein was a monster who killed way more people than the Iraq War did. If the US had actually gone in trying to help Iraq rather than using it as a rationalization to exploit them for oil, it could possibly have been justified. You could also make a case that even if the chances of them having WMDs were low, it was better to go in and prevent it just in case. I would disagree, but if the USA had been transparent and honest about what they were doing it would at least have been somewhat justified.

But we all know what actually happened. The invasion was founded on lies about the WMDs and weasely, deceptive insinuation that Iraq was linked to September 11th. And they fucked it up in every way imaginable. The Bush administration thought that as soon as they toppled the regime, corporations could immediately move in and turn it into a venture capitalist paradise. They grossly underestimated the troops and resources necessary every step of the way. They ignored experts on the region and listened to yes men who gave them the rosy predictions they wanted to hear. In terms of sheer incompetence, it may be the worst executed military operation in US military history. Certainly the worst one ever carried out on that big a scale.
