adding ceasefire talks have stopped

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Friday his government was considering alternative options to ceasefire talks with Hamas after Israel and the U.S. recalled their negotiating teams, throwing the future of the negotiations into further uncertainty.

Netanyahus statement came as a Hamas official said negotiations were expected to resume next week and portrayed the recall of the Israeli and American delegations as a pressure tactic.
The teams left Qatar on Thursday as President Donald Trumps special envoy, Steve Witkoff, said Hamas latest response to proposals for a deal showed a lack of desire to reach a truce. Witkoff said the U.S. will look at alternative options, without elaborating.
In a statement released by his office, Netanyahu echoed Witkoff, saying, Hamas is the obstacle to a hostage release deal.

Together with our U.S. allies, we are now considering alternative options to bring our hostages home, end Hamass terror rule, and secure lasting peace for Israel and our region, he said. He did not elaborate. Israels government didnt immediately respond to whether negotiations would resume next week.

This honestly makes watergate look pretty lame in comparison.

All signs point that Trump was at the very least aware of the sex trafficking of children, at the very worst was a major part of it.
I am talking the current withheld release. The oversight committee will subpoena the DOJ where they most likely find Trump told them to stop/not a release of the files. That to me is a by the book cover-up which is the main scandal of watergate.

Peacock heading to be the most expensive

https://variety.com/2025/tv/news/peacock-price-increase-2025-1236463982/

NBCUniversal execs have believed Peacock is underpriced relative to the streamers rivals and, to that point, the company is raising rates for the third time in three years.

Starting July 23, the price for Peacock Premium (which includes ads) will increase by $3 to $10.99/month and Premium Plus (which has limited ads in live programming) by $3 to $16.99 per month. Peacocks annual price will be $109.99/year for Premium and $169.99/year for Premium Plus.

The new pricing now makes Peacock more expensive than the ad-supported and ad-free tiers at Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max and Paramount+. The higher prices will be effective July 23 for new and returning customers, and on or Aug. 22 for current customers (depending on their next billing date).

In addition to the higher pricing on those two packages, the company is beginning to test a new Peacock Select tier, which will feature NBC and Bravo current seasons and an assortment of library titles, which will be priced at $7.99/month and $79.99/year.

NBCU last increased Peacock pricing in July 2024, after hiking prices a year earlier for the first time since Peacocks 2020 launch.
Peacocks latest price increase comes off the massively popular recent season of Love Island USA (pictured above) and a strong start to Love Island: Beyond the Villa. And it comes ahead of the NBAs return to NBC (and Peacock) in the fall of 2025 after a 23-year absence on the network.

Movies coming to Peacock are set to include Jurassic World Rebirth, How to Train Your Dragon and Wicked: For Good. The platform also will have the return of The Traitors and new scripted originals like The Paper, plus programming from NBC and Bravo like Saturday Night Live, the WWE, and the Law & Order, Chicago and Real Housewives franchises.

NBCU also is touting the return of the NFLs Sunday Night Football this fall, as well as the NBA, WNBA, Premier League, Big Ten, the FIFA World Cup in Spanish and more sports. NBC also has Super Bowl LX, and next years NBA All-Star Weekend, as well as the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics and Paralympics in February 2026. All told, according to NBCU, Peacock will stream more live sports in 2026 than Amazon Prime, Paramount+, Hulu, HBO Max, Apple TV and Netflix combined.

As of the end of the first quarter of 2025, Peacock reported 41 million paid subscribers, up from 36 million at the end of 2024. Execs said the net gain was driven by its deal with Charter Communications to bundle the Peacock Premium ad-supported streaming service with the Spectrum TV Select video package.

In Q1, Peacock revenue increased 16% and the quarterly loss from operations narrowed to $215 million, compared with a loss of $639 million in the year-earlier period.

Trumps Labor Department proposes more than 60 rule changes in a push to deregulate workplaces
The U.S. Department of Labor is aiming to rewrite or repeal more than 60 obsolete workplace regulations, ranging from minimum wage requirements for home health care workers and people with disabilities to standards governing exposure to harmful substances.
If approved, the wide-ranging changes unveiled this month also would affect working conditions at constructions sites and in mines, and limit the governments ability to penalize employers if workers are injured or killed while engaging in inherently risky activities such as movie stunts or animal training.
The Labor Department says the goal is to reduce costly, burdensome rules imposed under previous administrations, and to deliver on President Donald Trumps commitment to restore American prosperity through deregulation.
The Department of Labor is proud to lead the way by eliminating unnecessary regulations that stifle growth and limit opportunity, Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer said in a statement, which boasted the most ambitious proposal to slash red tape of any department across the federal government.
Critics say the proposals would put workers at greater risk of harm, with women and members of minority groups bearing a disproportionate impact.
People are at very great risk of dying on the job already, Rebecca Reindel, the AFL-CIO unions occupational safety and health director, said. This is something that is only going to make the problem worse.

The proposed changes have several stages to get through before they can take effect, including a public comment period for each one.
Heres a look at some of the rollbacks under consideration:

No minimum wage for home health care workers
Home health care workers help elderly or medically fragile people by preparing meals, administering medications, assisting with toilet use, accompanying clients to doctor appointments and performing other tasks. Under one of the Labor Departments proposals, an estimated 3.7 million workers employed by home care agencies could be paid below the federal minimum wage currently $7.25 per hour and made ineligible for overtime pay if they arent covered by corresponding state laws.

Protections for migrant farm workers
The department is also proposing to reverse a 2024 rule that protected migrant farmworkers from retaliation for activities such as filing a complaint, testifying or participating in an investigation, hearing or proceeding.

Adequate lighting for construction spaces
OSHA said if employers fail to correct lighting deficiencies at construction worksites, the agency can issue citations under its general duty clause. The clause requires employers to provide a place of employment free from recognized hazards which are likely to cause death or serious physical harm.

Mine safety
Several proposals could impact safety procedures for mines. For example, employers have to submit plans for ventilation and preventing roof collapses in coal mines for review by the Labor Departments Mine Safety and Health Administration. Currently, MSHA district managers can require mine operators to take additional steps to improve those plans.

Limiting OSHAs reach
The general duty clause allows OSHA to punish employers for unsafe working conditions when theres no specific standard in place to cover a situation.
An OSHA proposal would exclude the agency from applying the clause to prohibit, restrict or penalize employers for inherently risky professional activities that are intrinsic to professional, athletic, or entertainment occupations.
A preliminary analysis identified athletes, actors, dancers, musicians, other entertainers and journalists as among the types of workers the limitation would apply to.

Tarriflation on the horizon just in time for fall. Then next year Trump gets his pick for head of the Fed. Good times ahead.

https://apnews.com/article/inflation-trump-fed-powell-prices-8842d6ebca9d1870983e678e578d2091
"Inflation rose last month to its highest level since February as President Donald Trumps sweeping tariffs push up the cost of a range of goods, including furniture, clothing, and large appliances.
Consumer prices rose 2.7% in June from a year earlier, the Labor Department said Tuesday, up from an annual increase of 2.4% in May. On a monthly basis, prices climbed 0.3% from May to June, after rising just 0.1% the previous month.
Worsening inflation poses a political challenge for Trump, who promised during last years presidential campaign to immediately lower costs only to engage in a whipsawed frenzy of tariffs that have left businesses and consumers worried. Trump has declared that the U.S. effectively has no more inflation as he has attempted to pressure Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell into cutting short-term interest rates.
Yet the bump in inflation last month makes it more likely that the central bank will keep rates unchanged at the central banks next meeting in two weeks. Powell has said that he wants to see how the economy reacts to Trumps duties before reducing borrowing costs.
Excluding the volatile food and energy categories, core inflation increased 2.9% in June from a year earlier, up from 2.8% in May. On a monthly basis, it picked up 0.2% from May to June. Economists closely watch core prices because they typically provide a better sense of where inflation is headed.
The uptick in inflation was driven by a range of higher prices. The cost of gasoline rose 1% just from May to June, while grocery prices increased 0.3%. Appliance prices jumped for the third straight month. Toys, clothes, audio equipment, shoes, and sporting goods all got more expensive, and are all heavily imported."

This is over the 60 Minutes edit of Kamala Harris interview causing Bill Owens to leave. Paramount paid the shakedown money.

Bill Owens, the executive producer for CBS News flagship 60 Minutes program, announced he will resign from the top job on Tuesday, saying he no longer has control over the show.
In a memo obtained by CNN, Owens said to 60 Minutes staff that the last few months have made it clear that he would not be allowed to run the show as I have always run it or make independent decisions based on what was right for 60 Minutes.
So, having defended this show and what we stand for from every angle, over time with everything I could, I am stepping aside so the show can move forward, Owens wrote, adding that the show is too important to the country, it has to continue, just not with me as the Executive Producer.

https://au.variety.com/2025/tv/news/south-park-slam-paramount-merger-24480/

On the heels of the South Park Season 27 premiere getting delayed by two weeks to July 23, creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone released a scathing statement against Comedy Central parent Paramount Global, whose proposed merger with Skydance Media has still yet to close nearly a year after the companies inked the deal.
The Season 27 delay was announced Wednesday morning by Paramount and Comedy Central, and 30 minutes later the South Park X account released a statement from the creators calling the Paramount-Skydance merger a shit show that is fucking up South Park.
In response to the press release from Comedy Central about the change in premiere date for South Park Trey Parker and Matt Stone said This merger is a shit show and its fucking up South Park. We are at the studio working on new episodes and we hope the fans get to see them somehow, their statement read

While Parker and Stone did not lay out of the specifics of why the long-pending merger between Comedy Central parent (and owner of CBS, MTV, Paramount Pictures, Paramount+ and more) Paramount Global and Skydance are to blame for the delayed South Park premiere, its clear by the toll the holding pattern has already taken across the rest of the company in the form of cancellations, release date changes and major layoffs.
The $8 billion Paramount-Skydance deal is still pending FCC approval nearly a year after the agreement was announced. President Trump, when he was asked last week what was holding it up, launched into a discussion of his lawsuit against Paramount and CBS over a 60 Minutes interview with Kamala Harris. Late Tuesday night, Paramount and Trump announced a settlement of the lawsuit under which Paramount will pay the president $16 million.
Theres also an ongoing legal battle with South Parks streaming rights. Warner Bros. Discoverys HBO Max has maintained the exclusive streaming rights to the series, but its deal expired in late June and a new deal between Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount hasnt been agreed upon yet. South Park is still available on Max (soon to be renamed HBO )Max, and extension talks have been ongoing, but Parker and Stone have accused incoming Paramount president Jeff Shell of interfering in their contract negotiations with WBD and Netflix.
