How many non Japanese people do you see a day? How do the Japanese people treat you? Is the work life balance really as bad as depicted? Are the subway trains packed?

I'm at training atm so quite a few but that'll change when I start work. Work starts next month. Subway are packed at certain times but other than that, manageable.

They've been nothing but respectful towards me.

Might wait before I make a general. Still need to settle into an apartment then gonna gather material.

how people fight these days scares me.

of course, people would sometimes slam their opponents in the past, but now we have that plus MMA stuff. and people also seem more brutal, maybe because they know they're being recorded and the fight can become viral.

Yeah tbh back when I was a kid fights were never this brutal.

Contract for 1 year and can be extended. For that first year I'm hoping to learn more Japanese (at conversational level right now) then get another job in data/programming.

Want to stay there permanently if all goes well.

From 5k people to over 270k people as of now following the curator because the employee that also had a spicy take on Toriyama decided to open his maw and try to get the curator creator banned off steam. This literally would have been some random obscure list lost among all the steam curators if that dope didn't make a huge thing about it.

Yeah I personally started looking into it more when he dissed Toriyama. Some of his friends also started taking digs at Toriyama. I'm pretty sure when he did that, he attracted the attention of people outside the gaming sphere, further escalating the issue.

My wife is a programmer in Japan. If you know Japanese it is super easy to get a job. Massive shortage of programmers.

I'm at conversational level, hopefully I'll be able to improve whilst I'm there. Gonna have to work hard for it though.

Just be aware some phones in the US have really weird network frequency bandwidths that make them unable to use Japanese SIM cards. I had a phone that was unusable after moving here.

I'm from the UK so the phones are unlocked. I also have an old Galaxy S8 that i'll bring too.

Did they use Mimikaki to actively clean it? Its an instrument different from a standard ear bud.

They like cleaning your ears. Whenever I'm lying down with one, they usually like cleaning it or just touching around it in general. It was weird to me at first but apparently its an intimate activity they do to their SO.

It's called "Mimikaki" I believe. I've also had some kiss me around the ear too.

Edit: Of course this is a generalization and not all Japanese girls do this, but I've had three including my ex do it to me.

I spent most of my time going back and forth between a college and my host house. The main big thing I remember was the Toyota museum

But also things have probably changed in 20 years. I guess I don't really know many particularly exciting things about Nagoya. I just like it cause it was my only trip to Japan so it's all I know apart from 1 weekend in Kyoto

Nagoya has a cool Eiffel Tower replica area now. And my favorite Chinese restaurant in Japan. Also a Studio Ghibli Park:

But overall Nagoya is pretty boring compared to Tokyo or Osaka.

Oh yeah Nagoya castle is pretty cool, but I am pretty sure you still can't go in the tenshu, they have been doing repairs for so long.
