Yeah they do seem to hold their value well.

is the civic a 1.5 or 2.0 engine? if it's the 2.0, get it 100%. if it's the 1.5, it might have an issue w/ oil dilution. The problem was fixed in recent years so a 2021 may not have that issue, just something to consider.
the 2.0 engines basically last forever
Wow I know nothing about engines so thanks for this info. It's a 2.0 luckily!

For a $14,000 difference to me this is an easy choice. The used Civic all the way.
Yeah you're right. And 6k is still a lot of money for a 20 year old car... even a Toyota with that low of mileage. With great luck, I can hope for another 130k more miles on it but it's pretty certain that the Civic would get to 200k with regular maintenance.

Right now I am am shopping for a car (unrepairable deer damage to my old Civic ) and I've been looking for the last couple days. These two stick out as the best deals so far.

A 2021 Civic with 5,000 miles for $20k. Certified pre owned which is a nice bonus. Seems to be a great deal. In my area there's the exact same car model with 60k+ miles on them for the same price. Comes with a lot of technology which would be nice bonus, but not essential for me. My old car didn't even have Bluetooth lol. As long as I can use aux that's enough for me.

Or a 2005 Corolla with 115,000 miles for $6k. Only had one owner and all of the services were reported to Carfax so I know that's nothing to worry about. It averages 5k miles a year which I feel is crazy low. Carfax says it had one accident which made me a little weary but that was in 2006 lol. My main worry about this would be possible rusting damage because it was in Massachusetts a lot of that time and I don't know if they regularly washed the underside.

As far as money goes, I haven't had a car payment in a while so I've been able to save up so I am able to purchase the Civic outright. Which is nice because I'm trying to avoid paying any interest on a loan. But if I can save 14k, that's a decent chunk of change.

Because I get basically nothing out of phone interactions, especially when I have no idea what this girl is like. Experts also say that 70 to 93% of communication is nonverbal so I'd be working with at best, 30% of my arsenal.

I (32M) have been chatting with a girl (27F) for about a week and we were supposed to have a first date at a brewery tonight. She cancelled which was no big deal. She had a good reason as she was helping her grandma with things.

Anyway, she said she likes to talk on the phone and was going to call me but decided against it because I might not be into that. Which is kinda true, I just can't see many benefits to talking on the phone at this point. I am more charming in person where I can use eye contact and body language to try and get her to like me. Make she would've hated my voice? Probably not, but who knows.

What's your stance?

In A Bug's Life, the grasshoppers led by Hopper are depicted more as an oppressive gang of bullies rather than a traditional biker gang. However, there are definitely some elements reminiscent of biker culture in their appearance and behavior, such as their tough demeanor, hierarchical structure, and the way they intimidate others.
Yes I agree and this blending of insect and human characteristics adds depth to the portrayal of the antagonists and helps create a compelling narrative dynamic in the film.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. It's common to feel a range of emotions, including sadness, frustration, and even numbness, after experiencing a significant financial loss. Here are some steps you can take to process your grief and prevent it from affecting you in the future:
  1. Allow yourself to feel your emotions: It's okay to feel sad, disappointed, or even angry about the loss. Acknowledge and accept these feelings rather than trying to suppress them.
  2. Talk about it: Share your feelings with someone you trust, whether it's a friend, family member, or therapist. Talking about your experience can help you process your emotions and gain perspective.
  3. Reflect on your investment strategy: Take some time to review your investment decisions and what led to the loss. Consider what you could have done differently and what you've learned from the experience. This reflection can help you make more informed decisions in the future.
  4. Focus on what you can control: While you can't change the outcome of your investments, you can control how you respond to the situation. Focus on taking positive steps, such as adjusting your investment strategy or seeking professional advice, rather than dwelling on what has already happened.
  5. Practice self-care: Take care of yourself physically and emotionally during this time. Engage in activities that help you relax and de-stress, such as exercise, meditation, or spending time with loved ones.
  6. Set realistic expectations: Understand that investing involves risks, and losses are a natural part of the process. Set realistic expectations for your investments and avoid chasing quick gains or taking excessive risks.
By allowing yourself to process your emotions and taking proactive steps to learn from the experience, you can move forward with a healthier mindset and avoid projecting pent-up emotions in the future.

It's okay if it's sparse throughout the day, I can handle that. But holding conversations through it, no thanks. She would kinda freak out and ask if I'm still there when it's been an hour since I last responded. And I would try and put in some effort like, 'how's babysitting going?' and she just says "good", nothing else. That drives me crazy.

We've been on two dates and I did kiss her on the first date, I thought there could be some potential but after the second date I was having second thoughts. Kinda found out we don't have the same interests really and our communication styles are very different, she loves to constantly text and I hate it.

But after I told her that we maybe shouldn't see each other again she kinda went off on me. Saying I was just like the rest of them (other men) and that I walked all over her heart. Thing is, she never really asked me any questions on the dates so she doesn't know who I am or what I've been through, and I've tried to include that into the text.

Anyway, one of the last questions she asked me was "don't you want to be in a relationship?!

I appreciate you being honest and vulnerable with me, I've tried to be the same to you too. I wasn't originally planning on telling anyone that I hadn't been on a date in over 5 years. That's pretty embarrassing.

Yes, I would like to be in a relationship. Hell, I've never really been in one. But I think I'm learning that I don't need one so if it's not a super good fit I'm not going to try and push things. I'm attracted to you so down the line if things got physical it could get worse and cause way more damage to each of us and for sure break someone's heart, and that's not what I'm trying to do.

Alright, thanks. I do think BNBs are creepy, though.
It's understandable that some people might find the idea of staying in someone else's home or a small bed and breakfast a bit unsettling. It can feel like a departure from the anonymity and predictability of hotels. However, many people enjoy the unique and often more personalized experience that BNBs offer. Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference and comfort level. If you prefer the familiarity and consistency of hotels, that's perfectly fine too!
