The problem is with these reduced votals, Gamefaqs strength hardly even matters anymore. SSBM had to bring in something like 20k external votes to beat CT, which isn't that easy. Nowadays reversing a 63-37 might take 8k external votes or less. What was an exciting match last contest would now be CT losing its lead about 20 minutes after the rally started and getting buried 1000+ votes under within an hour.

super metroid's year being about as strong as its ever been

The fact that the year its in is losing to a mid card year (2005) in the first round shows a lot. Also undertale was super popular for like 3 months on the internet, and pretty much saw an exponential decline in popularity/discussion/purchases. Ya, that screams fad.

2015 didnt need to win the fucking contest, but if a year contains a game that caused what it did last contest, ya 2015 needed to beat a meh 2005.

More proof that undertale mania was just a fad. People (not just here, but the internet in general) in 2015 immediately put it as its favorite game of all time, and that hype died down almost right after the gfaqs contest.

And 2005 > 2003 should of been the favorite in the guru contest and what not. 2005 has RE4. Its very often in peoples top 10 of all time. That alone can make it beat a year with a bunch of good but nothing amazing games like in 2003. And people need to realize that Zelda post Majora's has different contest strength than Majora's and earlier.

i assume most people that have 2016 winning this round have it going all the way. people making the questionable decision to have 2016 win this round and then lose after probably made several other mistakes already.

I've been playing with data. of the folks who picked 2011, ZeldaTPLink looks the best.

for those with 1991 and 2001 getting to 1998, Dragon66116 looks the best - his only risks are 2015 winning two rounds. I'll revisit this after we see the 03 and 05 matches as those will tell a lot.

Also why the F isn't Halo 2 listed for 04? Even more reason 04 should be winning.

Relative to WoW imo no. And that's just ONE 04 game. WoW has been out 13 years and is STILL the most popular and most played MMO to this day. That's huge.
