that seems super hard for a 6 year old

the jars are an example of the right differences, but don't add up to 40. 13 + 6 + 3 = 22. (oops, never counted the first jar, it actually has 16, but 13 + 6 + 3 still has the right differences.) so we need 40 - 22 = 18 more bugs. distributed evenly would be 18 / 3 = 6 more bugs for each jar, which makes it 19 + 12 + 9 = 40.

there was a time that the credits were WHY you beat the game. it was the primary reward. see games like: SMW, Zelda 3, Starfox, FF6, (maybe it was just a nintendo thing?). These days, you get like 1 small cutscene which is just a video file, and then an hour of slow scrolling text.

I should also say, if you can identify the spot in the wire that is broken (move it around and try to get the sound to cut out, and look for a part that seems crooked or bent inside; it will probably be a part of the wire that tends to move or get yanked on more often) then you can just splice out that part of the wire, which is a lot easier than opening the speaker. (though if the wire gets yanked hard on the speaker end pretty often or something, the break may be inside the speaker or even right at the connection to the speaker.)

I have no experience trying to get a programming job, but programming is a field where an experienced employee is *astronomically* more valuable than an inexperienced one, and in fact an inexperienced employee can be almost purely detrimental. so all you tend to see are Senior level jobs with few to zero junior or intermediate positions.

the main thing to do is try to become the best programmer you can be in your spare time. you don't need a job to become great at programming, you just need to program.

the wire usually is very obviously soldered to two leads on the base of the actual internal speaker and is "really easy" to replace (naturally depends on the particular speaker). make sure to keep black and red on the proper leads. (as far as I know, wiring it backwards still works, but the sound will be weakened or something.)

the harder part is probably the other end with the plug. you need to either splice the new wire to the old plug, or onto a new plug (or maybe you have wire that already ends in a plug). as long as you replace the part of the wire that has the break, and solder it properly with no shorts, this will very very likely solve the problem.

a speaker that just doesn't work even with a replaced wire is not something I've ever seen or heard of. I've seen speakers that are basically torn in half still work, they just sound terrible. I think the actual speaker mechanism is simple enough that it's very unlikely for it to fail. (not an audio or electronics expert by any means though.)

I've never known a speaker to "die", except by having the wire break. Even a half broken speaker still puts out sound, just much lower quality sound. Especially if the sound is "cutting in and out" I would expect it to be the wire.

The word is often used in that context, though.

where? immortal beings can almost always be killed. (unless they are specifically immortal *and* invulnerable or nigh-invulnerable.)

the thing is, as I'm fond of pointing out, immortality only removes biological aging; it does not remove temporal aging.

that is, even if you're immortal, you will still accumulate injuries, your teeth will still decay, you will still get scars, your organs will still fail, your blood will still accumulate junk, eating poorly will still result in poor health, you can still lose your sight or hearing, you can still be paralyzed or brain damaged, you can still get cancer (in fact cancer is more or less *caused by* immortality), you can still lose or cripple limbs, and so on and so on.

the space travel, though, is the better choice. in some sense, this question is "live longer in ignorance, or live shorter with vast amounts of new knowledge". exploring the universe grants new knowledge on a scale we can't imagine or predict.

I've had something like that a couple times. my only guesses are maybe that it's caffeine withdrawal, or maybe a non-obvious side effect of bad sleeping patterns (or both at the same time).

another possibility though I think probably isn't it, is something like a painless migraine. I've had two occurrences of hour-long "lightning shows" on my retina, with a very faint dull ache in my head. I assume these are painless migraines. I have no reason to think they're connected to the brain fog thing, but who knows.

why? just because you have big or great cities doesn't mean you automatically get top 10, you have to actually outdo almost everyone else.

and I would guess that most likely the reason US is not there is healthcare related.

that said, I live in Calgary, and it doesn't really feel like the 5th best city in the world, but w/e.

also, wasn't it not long ago that Vancouver was supposedly like a rape and violent crime cesspool or something.

no, the internet is just shining lights into places that haven't had light shone before. as long as light continues to shine (speech continues freely) the bad ideas should eventually shrivel up to the point of relative harmlessness.

this is one reason why things like net neutrality are important though. as TV dies and propaganda machines ("mainstream media") become less and less effective, there will be more and more desperate attempts to take control of the internet to be able to control the flow of ideas.

Netflix has no idea how you figured out its IP is 54.194.149.231. All it knows is your IP address, that you've gotten from your ISP.

k, you're right I'm wrong, which is good because I didn't like that that conflicted with my understanding.

what unblock-us does is use their own DNS servers, which made me wonder how that could affect anything, but apparently it's by changing the address entries for specific sites to use their proxy web servers, so you get a proxied connection for those specific sites, and a regular connection for everything else.

actually I can't even tell if it still works on XP these days. I guess maybe it doesn't work at all now. at first it was just "MSE won't get any more updates", ok. but it sure seems like it doesn't work at all now.

what I would do is, make sure you have ALL windows updates, and don't run as an administrative user. it's a lot more of a pain to run as a limited user in XP than in Vista+ due to not having UAC, but it's a LOT safer than running as an admin. make some admin account that you can use to install and configure things (with "run as", never login as that user, and be careful what you do with processes that are running administratively), and be very cautious about what you install. (remember that installing software is like injecting yourself with a syringe.)
